General Discussion Silver Pines is what silent hill should be. It’s the best horror game since signalis.

Liked the remake on my first playthrough but somehow when it comes to replay, I love playing the original. Liked silent hill f.

But Silver Pines is the game I always wanted to play. It has the atmosphere I want from a silent hill game. It’s hard to describe what silent hill is but as soon as you play the originals and you compare them to the new, you know it.

In silver pines, just by the way the people talk, I get the atmosphere I want from a horror game. I can’t recommend it enough to silent hill fans. The 2 D or 2,5 D doesn’t matter trust me. Atmosphere is king here.

It has an npc chilling on the toilet. Where you only see the cowboy leather boots. Who sings. Do I need to say more?

Fanmade Was working on a re-edit of Return To Silent Hill when I noticed an easter egg that little stinker Christophe Gans slipped in the audio track

I don't know who approved this but somehow, somewhere someone managed to slip the Roblox OOF into the soundtrack. This was not my edit. This is in the actual movie.

edit; Now that I've gotten off work, I can confirm that the Roblox OOF is at 41:11, exactly

Silent Hill 3 (2003) My first ever Silent Hill game is SH3 and I’m absolutely terrified

My experience with survival horror has mostly been through Resident Evil. I’ve never played a Silent Hill game in my life, but I decided to jump straight into Silent Hill 3 because its aesthetic, protagonist, atmosphere, and overall vibe appealed to me the most.
Holy shit, this game is terrifying.
I feel like a little kid who’s too scared to watch what’s happening on the TV. Every single step I take into a dark room feels like a threat to my mental health. I’m constantly dreading whatever might be waiting around the next corner, and I genuinely have to convince myself to keep moving forward.
The puzzles have also been a massive reality check. Not in a bad way, but I’m so used to modern Resident Evil games, especially RE4 Remake, and titles like Alan Wake 2, where they practically paint the solution yellow for you. Silent Hill 3 has been a serious wake-up call.
Like, HOW THE HELL WAS I SUPPOSED TO FIGURE OUT THAT I NEEDED TO MIX BLEACH AND DETERGENT IN A TRASH CAN TO GET RID OF AN INSECT NEST SO I COULD PROGRESS?
When was I supposed to think of using a pair of bread clips to fish keys out of a box?
And how the hell was I supposed to know that I needed to crack open a walnut with a pipe wrench and put whatever was inside into some creepy-ass door?
I’m genuinely amazed by how much the game expects you to figure out on your own. I keep staring at random objects, wondering what kind of unhinged combination the developers expect me to come up with next.
I’m currently in the basement area after leaving the subway, and this place is an absolute nightmare of a labyrinth. I’m getting lost, I’m crying, I’m scared to look at my screen, and every step forward feels like an act of pure psychological warfare.
Every checkpoint is a mira le sent from god. I stop playing every time I reach a checkpoint to keep my mind sane.
I’m having an absolutely miserable time. I fucking love it.
I can’t believe I’ve gone this long without playing a Silent Hill game. If the rest of the series is anything like this, I think I’m in for a hell of a ride.
Please tell me I’m not the only one who felt like a helpless little child playing this game for the first time.

Merchandise Looking for Gecco Heather Mason

Post image
36 Upvotes

Hey guys,

I’m trying to eventually add the original Silent Hill 3 Heather Mason statue by Gecco to my collection (complete with box).

The 1,000€+ prices on eBay are way out of reach. Does anyone know good Japanese proxy sites, reliable second-hand shops, or collector circles outside of eBay where this specific statue occasionally pops up for a more realistic market price?

Any advice or website recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

In my case, while playing SH1 for a third time, I started listen to Fleetwood Mac, specifically the album Mirage. I liked the combination so much that I played it in that way several times, and now, every time I hear it, I think of SH1.

Silent Hill 3 (2003) Replaying Silent Hill for spooky season.

Thumbnail

I'm currently doing my annual playthrough of Silent Hill 1-3 for spooky season.

I just finished doing 2 re-plays of Silent Hill 1 on Next Fear mode and unlocked the katana for the first time. Aside from the Midwhich Elementary school levels and the Floatstinger boss battle, hard mode really wasnt that bad.

Just starting up Silent Hill 3 today. I always love seeing my old save file from over 22 years ago still on my memory card. It brings back alot of nostalgia. I had purchased a copy of SH3 at gamestop for around 25-30$ back then. Insane how much it goes for now.

I bought a copy the day before I was out of town getting a major foot surgery done. I was 15 years old at the time. When I got released from the hospital I was pretty much stuck on the couch all summer long recovering and playing video games.

I immediately opened my copy of SH3 and delved in. I fell in love with it instantly. I had only previously played Silent Hill 1, so the upgrade with the graphics was mind blowing back then. I still feel like this game visually holds up so well for being a 23 year old game. Easily one of the best looking games the PS2 ever had. Plus in my opinion the best monster designs, sound track, atmosphere re-playability and combat. I love how visceral Silent Hill 3 is.

I know Silent Hill 2 is always held in high regard to be the best in the series, and I love it as well, but for me it will always be Silent Hill 3.

Silent Hill: Townfall (2026) How in the world do you get the other endings? Spoiler

I just finished my third playthrough, each time I’ve gotten the abandoned ending. I even used a website that was suggested on a previous post to track my memos, Simon kills, Zoe mistakes, and IV refills.

Simon kills: it was at 17 by the time I made it to the Weight boss fight.

IV refills: 0, I lost the starting one and never refilled it, didn’t even craft one

Zoe mistakes: 0, beat that section fairly quickly too

Discoveries: 85, I even got the achievement

What in the world could I be missing?? I don’t care if I get forever, or justice, or even the other two I’m just tired of this same stupid ending.

Am I not allowed to kill things as Zoe? Is it that I picked up the axe as Simon? Maybe that I don’t have all the strange postcards? Genuinely, whatever it is I’ll do it, I’m just stumped

Silent Hill: Townfall (2026) Help me enjoy this game

I love survival horror but the stealth is just completely ruining this game for me. I can’t bring myself to keep playing and I haven’t even made it to the medical center yet because it feels like you’re forced to play that way, every time I’ve tried to play even a little more aggressive I get punished hard. The melee weapons don’t last for shit and when I use the gun I get jumped. Any suggestions?

Silent Hill: Townfall (2026) What was that big container? Spoiler

In the S.W.D.P., the last thing you do is prime the release clamps for a big container, and I don't quite understand what it is. The best I can glean, it was supposed to be some kind of emergency escape mechanism that lowered into the water, only the clamps failed to release properly and either roasted them alive or dropped it from a height instead of slowly lowering.

Silent Hill 2 (2001) Huge fan looking for higher quality "Making of Silent Hill 2" to encode and preserve, any help please?

I'm working on a high-quality archival encode (10-bit HEVC, 50/60 FPS deinterlaced) of the Making of Silent Hill 2 documentary.

Unfortunately, the European PAL bonus DVD (authorized by Fun TV) is a technical mess: they duplicated the entire 32-minute video stream just to add hardcoded French subtitles, cutting the MPEG-2 bitrate in half to a weak ~4000 kbps (despite having GBs of empty space left on the disc).

I already processed this PAL source with bwdiff bob deinterlacing, custom Mod 16 cropping (752x576), and x265 psy-settings, but I would love to find a higher bitrate source (like the Japanese NTSC TDK DVD release or an uncompressed master) to truly preserve this masterpiece.

Does anyone have an ISO/VOB rip of the Japanese version or know if a higher bitrate master exists? Any help or pointers would be greatly appreciated!

Silent Hill 4 (2004) SH 4 headphone fix?

I used to play SH 4 a lot on my PS2 as a kid, so much the disc broke. So I grabbed a PC copy of GoG for my birthday and I gott ask, was the audio mixing always this bad? Or is this just a PC port issue? Is there a way to set it up for headphones so the music isn't always 20 times louder than everything else without just disabling the music?

Silent Hill: Townfall (2026) How difficult is it to get the other two endings where documents and amount of kills matter?

I just need these two trophies to platinum the fans, and I'm wondering how easy it is to play the game, keeping the kills and document thresholds in the right amounts to trigger the endings. Any pointers or tips?

Theory Symbolism of the Nautilus (Ammonite) Shell - Townfall Spoiler

Thumbnail gallery
2 Upvotes

I thought I would give this one a shot, please let me know what you think.

  1. In-World Symbolism (Company Logo):

The most obvious symbolism (in-world) is the fact that the ammonite is a fossil, and CEG's business in St. Amelia is related to fossil fuels, but this is a very superficial symbolism. More of an in-world reason for the logo, which also references the Fibonacci spiral, the Golden Ratio, or God's Ratio (you can actually find an image in which it shows the shell with the Golden Ratio drawn on top). A company would probably use this to signify stability and balance with nature.

  1. Thematic Symbolism (The Spiral):

We've all heard the phrase "it's not a loop, it's a spiral". All three characters in this game seem to be stuck in a "loop"related to St. Emilia and the SWDP disaster. All have trauma related to the event, and they keep reliving it over and over and over while trying to escape this apparent loop.

But here's the thing, it's not a loop, it's a spiral. A loop is something that repeats itself over and over, Non-Stop, without an escape or change. A spiral does repeat itself, but every iteration introduces a slight change, it can seem endless as it goes more and more inward, but the idea of a spiral is that it has an end.

Based on Zoe's comments and the call Simon hears in the beginning, the person that is pulling both of them into their "loops" is Richard. Unlike Simon and (to an extent) Zoe, Richard DOES know he's stuck in a repeating "loop" and he knows the main reason for it. He also knows or theorizes that silencing Zoe (like he silences the Widows) will help him fix things, but he can't do it without Simon, who is the only one that can open the door to Zoe. Once Zoe is removed, Simon can "talk" to the people of the town and he'll be able to fix things.

Richard is seeking the end of his spiral. In the end, Simon does provide all three of them with the end of their individual spirals, but not in the way that Richard thought he would. Simon "gives it to them", he gives peace to the people of St. Amelia by giving them the real culprit behind the tragedy so they can punish him. He gives them Richard. He frees himself. He frees Zoe. He frees the "Collapse", the representation of the disaster and St. Amelia's collective victims.

Of course, by the time the game happens, Simon already did what he did. He already declared that CEG is not to blame and hurt St. Amelia. So, this is more of a redemption after everything, a metaphysical redemption, happening in this other world, possibly after all three protagonists have passed away at different times in their lives. Remember Zoe tells Simon, "This is after. [Where he can get all of his answers]". Here he puts to rest the souls all of those people that he hurt. The end of the spiral.

What do you think?

Reference Anyone watch Ghost stories (2017)?

Just was recently rewatching it for the lead up to halloween and couldnt belive how much h it reminded me of silent hill. I dont want to spoil for those that havnt healed with it but it deals with themes of limbo, guilt and death. It also mentions at least 2 names from silent hill 2. If this movie was a silent hill game it would fit perfectly. I'm suprised I didnt see any connection between the two online already! What does anyone else think that has seen over and played silent hill 2?

General Discussion Novels based on the games

Hey everyone!

I heard a lot about Silent Hill games, but unfortunately i don't really have the console or the pc requirements to play them. Only the Silent Hill 4, is playable for me and so far i love it.

I would like to ask if by reading the books based on them (for 1, 2 and 3) one can get the experience, thoughts and generally the phycological horror, Silent Hill gives you.

Any opinion is appreciated! Thanks in advance!
