Freak coming in!
This thing is growing with some crazy potential off of a random 4 ribbed NOID! Hope it continues doing what it’s doing! Haha

Does anyone have any tips on fattening up the middle? The tips and pups are doing just fine, but I want that thickness in the middle. I water inconsistently but usually at least once a week. I fertilize a few times a month with either rabbit pellet tea, pee, cactus juice or kelp, and occasionally I’ll add some cal mag in there. I just dosed w silica, but not sure if that’s even necessary. I planted in ground about 6 months ago. I live in California so it’s been a hot summer. It gets sun from morning to mid afternoon. Do I need to water more? Wait to see if they plump back up over winter when growth slows down? Chop a larger column or two to force energy to the other columns?

Thanks u/bobbobson1967 @bobbobson1967 for spawning me into the chat. A reminder that now is a good time to graft. I had a ball shaped cac that I was seeing if I could save even a piece of it but nope so I had to stick with what I’m good at and of course that’s grafting TBM. Perhaps I should put it in some shade but I hardly have the energy… here goes nothing lol

I have a couple twin lizards that decided they wanted the same haircut along with a few others. All my grafts came from one plant that hadn’t shown any signs of weirdness. My favorite is the lone lizard showing that classic 🦎 👑 funk.

Just recently both started leaning same direction. Thought it was either wind or light but they aren't leaning in that direction. They are in otherwise perfect condition. Any thoughts?

I have an Althea mid cutting that is about 8 inches, but hasn’t rooted for months. Initially was a bit larger but had to cut off a couple inches a while ago because of rot/infection.
It calloused and with rooting powder still hasn’t thrown up anything. I worry that it’s going to degrade and wonder if I should instead just chop it up and graft to try for better results.
I’m pretty patient, but just had a different cutting rot out over time so not looking to repeat that experience.

Not going to cut it, just curious which one it is. Also just sharing a beautiful specimen

OR Patient is a three year old claiming to be of Perivian decent presenting symptoms of unilateral bacterial infection of the base of the column. After lancing and expression, further exploration revealed this spreading necrotic infection is stemming from the interior vascular cambium and spreading vertically expressing discharge from built up positive internal pressure of gangreenous fluid through areolic channels (cysts).
The patient's cohort, a three year old identical twin that under went a penising graft eighteen months ago remains physically unaffected but requires close monitoring by friends or family for the followimg weeks...this patient remained planted next to the OP during the entire operation and witnessed everything.

I just had three massive columns fall over and miraculously not damage any of the mutants below them. This stab wound was the only casualty (so far, looks like the winds will continue on through Saturday 😞)
