Collie Halloween costume ideas??
I’m the biggest Halloween fan and we’ve decided to throw a party this year to celebrate, so I’m on the hunt for good costume ideas for our sweet boy, Ollie. Surely there are some great ones — especially if there’s one that looks extra good with all this collie fur!
Accepting any and all ideas — and feel free to drop pics of your pups’ past costumes in the comments too! :) 🎃

Photo/Video Anybody else’s Collie obsessed with cardboard boxes?
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
My boy Tavish has probably accumulated $500 of dog toys in his lifetime, yet nothing compares to his enthusiasm for a good ole cardboard box! He likes to carry them around and tear them up, but never chews or swallows anything. He comes to work with me and my husband every day (he’s our Customer Service Rep!) so whenever I restock the snacks and drinks in the lobby, I give him the leftover boxes 📦🤪

Question Puppy refuses apartment stairs but handles other stairs just fine. Any advice?
My 16-week-old Rough Collie, Winnie, has been doing wonderfully with training overall! She’s picked up commands like sit, stay, place, crate, and recall fairly easily. We do several short training sessions throughout the day, and she’s generally very eager to learn.
However, there’s one thing we just cannot seem to figure out: the stairs in my apartment building.
She has absolutely no problem going up and down the outdoor steps at my parents’ house. She’ll do those confidently and without hesitation. But the stairs in my apartment building? Absolutely not. ðŸ˜
I’ve tried treats, praise, and gentle encouragement. I even once tried placing her on the last couple of steps to see if she’d continue upward, but she literally backed DOWN them instead. Won’t be doing that again!
I live on the third floor, so this is becoming a concern as she gets bigger. She’s growing quickly, and carrying her up and down the stairs multiple times a day won’t be sustainable much longer.
The apartment stairs are fairly steep with dark treads, and I’m wondering if they’re just intimidating to her. I know Collies can be sensitive, so I really don’t want to force her or turn this into a negative experience.
Has anyone else’s Collie struggled with certain types of stairs as a puppy? Did they eventually gain confidence with age, or did you have to work through it with specific training exercises?
I’d love to hear what worked for you!

Question Kennel training
Where is the best place to put the kennel when initially kennel training? We currently have a dog that is kennel trained as in he will willingly go in one and not bark or pout about it if we needed him to. He sleeps in bed every night with us, so I’m wondering where the best place to put a new puppies kennel would be? As in our bedroom, the living room (a place we’d be in and out of or a room that is separate from everything?

Question Rough collies of Alberta Canada
Hello, I was wondering if anyone here knew a lady by the name of Lori Jones. She was a breeder I purchased a puppy from around 10 years ago. Just wanted to see if anyone else knew her and what your experience was. I had a very very negative one.

Grooming
Hi all - I really want to learn how to groom my collie - we do regular brushing etc but more so the trimming etc. I've been to four groomers in our area and legit every single one has messed up her regal floof so I'd rather learn and do it myself and save the $200+

Question Advice for first time rough collie coat care?
Hello all,
I'm writing to ask how you learned to care for your collie's coat. stella is a retired show collie, and my first collie. My approach to grooming is strictly functional, but I'm a little out of my depth, and frankly intimidated. For a little background, I've had a variety of dogs, but lots of goldens. So I'm used to using rakes, and pin brushes and deshedders. But Stella is used to a grooming table and I don't have one, so getting her stay in one place isn't easy. And I've read things like always spray the coat, but there's so much coat. And I'm not doing well with line brushing. Honestly, I'm just kind of overwelmed and don't know how to know if I'm doing it rightish.
the goal is just to keep her coat healthy, mat free, and clean, and realistically to reduce the tumble weed poofs flying around.
Please advise
