Nothing is beginning. If his past were going to hurt his career it would’ve happened a long time ago. I think the Shane Gillis thing is controversial in part because it happened specifically on SNL, which is meant to be a safe haven from non-woke humor. It’s the whole “platform” thing, if it were a one off comment he made somewhere else nobody would care.

I think his listeners don’t care? Most people I know who like his show either were fans of cumtown, have heard at least a few clips, or they know of it and are indifferent. I’ve seen people mention this a lot but I never got the impression that he has a lib language-policing fanbase akin to SNL.

I say this whenever that sub comes up on here but what’s especially cowardly about it is that they pick people they already dislike for obviously petty reasons and then just try to dredge up whatever they can to retroactively justify it. I don’t love Sydney Sweeney or Timothee Chalamet or Gillis or whoever, but they’re just frothing at the mouth for some bad quote, some joke out of context, some information their target was obviously keeping private so they have an excuse to basically harass en masse.
