Time slots and no returning stars are not real reasons for reality shows flopping

Every time a new reality competition show bombs and is cancelled after only one season(or silently cancelled due to the show not getting mentioned months after the finale aired), it’s always blamed on the show’s time slot, but Amazing Race 39 proved that isn’t the case. So here’s what Networks should do to stop shows from flopping(I know I’ve touched on this before, but here are more reasons why seasons like Amazing Race 39,
1. Cast people who want to compete and hire hosts that actually want to be on the show: If you watch Fear Factor:House Of Fear, it’s easy to tell that Johnny Knoxville wants to be there, compared to a host like Manu Bennett on The Summit who sounds bored and like he’d rather be at home with his girls(Phil would’ve been a much better host, given how fun he was)
2. Read The Room/Know your show’s audience: As much as we all love to hate them, Shows like Masked Singer and Big Brother are mainly for audiences who love more comedic styled shows, Fox’s shows like Extracted(survival fans), The Floor(fans of trivia shows) and Fear Factor(mainly audiences who’ve never seen the original show)had great marketing that exclusively targeted certain audiences that preferred their types of gameplay. Even Traitors:New Blood has been attracting audiences who never watched the original show. For example, Summit looked more like a show that would air on National Geographic than a social competition show(which it was, but Survivor fans who were the target audience didn’t know that because the tv spots CBS aired never told them) same with the Road which announced a music competition(but sold a more documentary styled show(that pretty much confused both audiences)and America’s Culinary Cup(which lets be honest, I don’t think CBS’s audience and the viewers watching March Madness were the right audiences)
3. Give the shows better Titles. Would you have told that The Real Love Boat was a competition show if you only saw the title? Of course not because it doesn’t suggest one, The Floor, Next Level Chef, and Amazing Race all explain the format in the title
5. Keep the illusion of being real/Give audiences a reason to care about these people. Extracted made the show feel like it was genuine where the emotional moments really made you feel, and Survivor and Amazing Race have been doing something like this(You can tell Liz really felt upset over being denied Applebee’s and you can tell Eva was starting to feel frustrated.(Audiences don’t want artificial drama that is obviously fake, which is what I attributed to killing the talent competition genre)

The Canadian version of The Assembly, the groundbreaking series adapted worldwide where a cast of autistic and neurodivergent interviewers collectively quiz celebrities in an ask-anything interview format, will be back for a second season!

According to Deadline, the new season will include Heated Rivalry star Hudson Williams, The Hangover‘s Zach Galifianakis, This is the End actor Jay Baruchel, three-time Olympic gold medalist Marie-Philip Poulin, Miss Universe Canada Ashley Callingbull, who has appeared in Netflix, CBC and APTN comedy North of North, and singer-songwriter Lights.

Apparently Hudson is asked about his sex life and whether he felt something more than friendship for his Heated Rivalry co-star Connor Storrie!

Who's also at the edge of their seats waiting to see what he answers with?!

A collection of some of the hardest people to watch this year on reality shows IMO. Not saying they're bad TV, but some of them should never reappear on TV.

What are your thoughts?

Dating Shows

Are there any reality dating shows that aren’t as raunchy as Love Island or as childish as Single’s Inferno? They’re both so extreme it’s uncomfortable to watch but I’d love a more middle of the road, sweet dating show, something like Love is Blind or Are you the one would be great! All reccs appreciated!

Most interesting

I think this is the most interesting reality TV 📺 show. There is so much backstory that we don't know. And we are finding out bits and pieces daily. It's like a big puzzle. So many lies and so many secrets. 🤷🏽🤦🏽🙅🏽🎯

Part of me feels that in the future, they can have actual civilians instead of celebrities be a part of this, and possibly win some money.

Also, one has to wonder about other places where soldiers train for survival, like Arctic, Forest, Wilderness, Wasteland, Island, etc.

currently watching mob wives for the first time but it appears to be coming to an end soon, so is my happiness. therefore, i am chasing the thrill of my next obsession.
here’s the criteria: niche, 2000s, reality tv show. preferably with like 3-5 seasons, with primarily the same people throughout. insane fights and hilarious story lines. hopefully someone who’s going through a crisis. i wanna see tears, maybe some blood. i wanna laugh. i want the THRILL!!!!

plz something like mob wives even though i know nothing will ever truly compare but mama can dream.

Promi Big Brother- Wedding Spoiler

Are networks going too far vaulting entire seasons? The fight to release RHUGT Morocco and Taylor Frankie Paul's Bachelorette season.

Hey everyone,

I wanted to open up a discussion about something that's been incredibly frustrating lately as a reality TV fan: networks completely wiping away fully filmed, finished seasons, because of behind-the-scenes drama or legal issues.

Instead of addressing the controversies transparently, networks like Peacock and ABC are choosing to completely lock these projects in their vaults, essentially punshing the rest of the cast, the crew, and the fans who invest their time (and screaming subscription money) into these franchises.

Right now, there are two major fan-led movements on Change.org trying to fight back against this:

  • Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip: Morocco (Season 4 / Ex-Wives Club 2): It has been over three years since this legendary cast assembled and finished in Marrakesh. Reports have confirmed that 7 master episodes are completely finished and edited. While there was a serious dispute between two cast members, namely Caroline Manzo and Brandi Glanville, burying the work of everyone else—including Alex McCord, Camille Grammer, Vicki Gunvalson, Eva Marcille, Phaedra Parks, and Gretchen Rossi—feels incredibly unfair.
  • The Bachelorette (Taylor Frankie Paul's Season): ABC completely pulled the plug on airing an entire season that was already filmed. Regardless of the public narratives or outside controversies surrounding her personal life, fans are pointing out that silencing her story completely strips away her narrative and deprives the audience of forming their own balanced opinions.

In both cases, fans aren't asking for perfection—we are just asking for fairness. Networks have all the tools to handle these situations responsibility, whether that means adding a formal disclaimer, airing a contextual special, or editing around specific incidents out of respect for privacy.

What do you all think? Should networks release these "lost" seasons with proper context and disclaimers, or do you think they are justified in keeping them buried forever?

Episode 1 of my fan-made Australian version of The Devil’s Plan is out on YouTube!

I’m really excited to introduce Episode 1 of Definitely Not The Devil’s Plan 2, my fan-made Australian reality competition show!

It’s a four-part series featuring 10 players competing in strategy games, making alliances and trying to survive elimination, with a cash prize for the winner.

The format is based on the Korean Netflix show The Devil’s Plan, and inspired by other Korean strategy shows like The Genius.

We’ve stepped things up considerably from our first season, with a bigger production, custom games and a full filming crew.

You can watch episode 1 here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1tZn-am9IEY

Would love to hear what you think! Hope you enjoy. :)
