Day 3... Again. I consider myself lucky.

So for context I started using kratom in 2022 and other than this last quit I've quit and gone thru withdrawal 2 other times. I relapsed and I've been back on for a couple months daily about 30-40 grams. I started to wake up going thru withdrawal before I had my first dose of the day. I'm still fighting for my sobriety and I'm nowhere near in the clear, but I'm having some realizations.

I lost both of my parents to hard drugs. I'm appreciative that kratom has taught me how fucking hard addiction is to overcome without killing me. Kratom has been a hell of a teacher. I in no way condone the use of kratom, but I'm happy it was a safer alternative to other easy to get substances that could have absolutely destroyed my life.

It's hard but I'm proud of myself for making it back to day 3. I have so much to learn, but I'm dedicated for good this time. Good luck to anyone else going thru the chaos of kratom withdrawal. I wish you a better life filled with all of the love you deserve.

TIMELINE: 6 WEEKS WITHOUT KRATOM

I am 6 weeks today without Kratom. I have some recollections as follows

Day 1: So whats the big deal?

Day 2: I didnt know i could jerk my arms and legs so quickly, Reflexes are still pretty good

Day 3: Involuntary movements my ass, its more like random uncontrollable spasms. As an analogy imagine the gut wrenching reactions you would experience while reading a Jeffrey Dahlmer Cook Book you found at the flea market

Day 5: Who was the ahole that made this stuff legal?

Day 6: Who was the ahole that said this sfuff was a healthy alternative?

Day 8: Went to bed early in good faith. Flopped around like sucker fish without Kratom from 10 PM until 8 am

Day 10: Got religion and realized If there is a hell, this is it!

Day 13: Completely blew through 12 rolls of Downey Toilet Paper. Quitting Kratom is hard on the ass and expensive

Day 15: Please, I would prefer the hallucinations, not the heightened awareness that wont let me sleep

Day 20: Victory, I slept for 1 whole hour

Day 25: Fuck it, Im getting out of bed and going outside. Surely something is living out there because everything is fucking dead in here

Day 30: Magnesium and Rum leads to 8 hours of sleep. Great! I quit kratom to become an alcoholic

Day 33: For the the aholes that made this garbage legal or the aholes who said this stuff was some sort of sacred plant: FUCK YOU, GET A REAL JOB

Day 34: This ends right? Like I will feel normal again at some point right?

Day 36: Hey look at that flower! Its pretty. I think i will go for a run

Day 38: Must warn friends

Day 42: Should call boss and explain where i have been for 6 weeks. Hopefully he takes me back

All in my head?

I was taking 200mg of 7oh 4-5 times a day. I used heavy MIT extracts (300mg 6xpd) for the first two days. 3rd day switched to leaf and no lie I had to eat 30 caps the first two doses to get relief.

4th day 8 caps got me right and I started my taper from there. I’m down to 5 capsules of leaf 4 times per day but when I wake up I feel like I’m in withdrawals.

Is it in my head or is my body feenin a 3 gram dose. Just seems extreme.

Edit: the reason I’m doing this is because I’m going on a 2 week multi country cruise and the last thing I wanted to do is kick 7oh or kratom on a ship rooming with a family member.

Back pain in withdrawal

Does anyone get a really terrible ache in their back when withdrawals start? Honestly my other symptoms aren’t that bad but the back is just so intolerable

Relapse!

Went CT on 9/22 and didn't touch the stuff again until today. I was past the acutes! I don't think I'll have a resurgence if withdrawal symptoms and even if I do they'll likely be mild, but there will be a toll on my mental health for a day or two. My wife and I got into a bit of a fight last night and so of course I used that as an excuse to get a shot today. I am disappointed but determined to make this a one-time slip up, not the start of another descent into being unable to control myself. I don't know if admitting my slip up to everyone will help but I felt like I needed to tell someone.

Don’t be afraid. 34 hours and 30 mins since my last tiny dose.

I don’t feel great, but not as bad as I was expecting. It’s crazy how some people really suffer getting off and others don’t. I don’t know the equation to make it easiest for people. I know I had cut way back from 50gpd down to about 20. But I had a long habit. I was trying to remember how long. I’m guessing about 10 years. I was always cheating though too. I have nothing left except some weed, and clonidine and hydroxyzine. I can’t get Xanax for 7 days and I was really lectured here about using that and getting addicted. I will see what I feel like in a week. Really trying to stay positive. All I could do today was work about 1/2 the day and go for a short walk. Thanks for listening.

Does THC use extend PAWS?

• Upvotes

my taper ends tomorrow and I’m jumping.

on Friday snd Friday only I like to drink a THC seltzer of 5MG. it does flood artificial dopamine to the brain so I was wondering if doing this once a week will hurt progress of my brain going to its natural baseline?

I don’t drink alcohol or any other substances

How Long Did Your Restless Legs Last? (taking a poll)

It's only been three days for me and I can't take it anymore! Could this really go on for months???

I have 30, 100 mg. Gabapentin caps and I've been taking three a night. I don't want to get dependent on it but I mean, you can't function if you can't sleep, period.

Did anyone notice you stopped taking care of themselves/grooming themselves

I'm on day 2 of my ct quit...literally feel SO much better today and hopeful... anyways, i'm a person that has always loved taking care of herself, my looks etc...i noticed the last couple of months i wouldn't even shower in the morning until i had my fix, then i'd be able to do all the things i needed to do...i stopped washing my face every night, doing the usual self care stuff i do...drink water omg...i NEVER drank water.. brushing my teeth? Nope, all of this is so out of character for me, I used to have my routines, eventually the kratom extracts are all i cared about...and my face got so dry i started developing a reddish spot above my lip that hasn't gone away for a year... i'm looking forward to being my healthy, and beautiful self again.. i wish i never touched this stuff because now i feel like i don't have the same capabilities to communicate and such without it the way I used to...

Why is this so hard to give up permanently?

It's not even that great but I've gone back for like 3 days a month since I quit for 2 months. I'm starting ADHD treatment in a week and want to give sobriety a shot but something about kratom feels inviting like "what's the big deal as long as I'm not drinking?" Feels like I always find an excuse to relapse. Maybe cause I'm not convinced that it's all that bad for me? How do I overcome the constant relapsing/quitting cycle for good? I don't even get withdrawals from the stuff other than sleep which edibles sleep and I'm prescribed sleeping meds. Makes it hard to commit even though the stuff is such a mild "high" that it feels somewhat acceptable in my brain. Long term quitters what pushed you over the edge?

Dirty dishes

And the coooold wind will blow..

Tear the skin off your nose

And you've got nothing to be grateful for

Just a list of wishes

And some dirty dishes

And you wanted more but you got less

And it hurts

But it could be worse yeah

Things could be

So much worse...

I took pictures of my dark skin spots on day 1

Another reason to stop and be done. Google dark skin spots from kratom- it’s a thing and I have it. Went to the dermatologist and never told her about kratom. She biopsies several areas and all negative. It just looks like shit in my chest and arms- small spots on face- all where the sun hits. It’s bad. Hoping it goes away with this quitting. Hair will hopefully stop falling out too. How I was in denial this long is beyond me!

Nobody has mentioned how much a wrong job can trigger you

Hey guys, i'm 2 days clean Cold turkey...remembering why I started using in the first place and now that I think about it it was my stressful job in insurance...thats when I found the extracts that (even though i had NO idea what i was doing at my job because most bosses at these types of jobs suck) it made me FEEL like i knew what i was doing...I went to 4 different insurance jobs before realizing how bad that work world is..

Then I had another job that was also really micromanaged, kept going with the extracts..

Eventually I went to a job I had a long time ago that I lasted at for 10 years, it wasn't so stressful and I found the job remote...well I kept using because at this point i was convinced EVERY job was going to be that difficult...let me tell you, after 2 days of cold turkey and being at this easier, more laid back job... its not so hard anymore, so I just want to mention that if you CAN..try to find a job that isn't so crazy demanding as this can be a huge trigger...

Those insurance jobs were so insecure for me, I felt like at any moment I could lose my job and that lead to more use.

Does anyone have experience starting suboxone on kratom?

I use 25 to 30 gpd of raw leaf kratom. How soon after my last dose can I take the suboxone? I was told by a doctor yesterday to stop taking the kratom 24 hrs before starting the subs. I was supposed to go into the ER today at noon to get a suboxone shot, and I see the doctor tommorow for a script. However, the withdrawls got bad and I took a dose around 7:45 am today. Should I still go to the ER in a few hours. I dont know if they will give me a shot since I had a dose a few hours ago and I'm not withdrawing right now

I can actually enjoy the present moment now

Hey all, 45 days without any 7oh/kratom! Woo! (1.5 year 7oh addiction at roughly 1000mg a day towards the end. Started at 20mg a day lol)

Tried to quit on my own but couldn’t. There were 4 shops that sold it within a 5-10 min walk of my house including one right downstairs from my city apartment and I would always cave on day 3-4 as I couldn’t deal with the insomnia, rls, and depression and just needed relief so I could deal with real life.

Checked myself into a 30 day residential rehab and it was the best decision I ever made. Insurance covered all of it and I met so many great supportive people, heard so many similar stories, and ultimately really had a great time. It was basically like adult summer camp. I would 100% recommend if you can swing it. Don’t be ashamed, they will give you meds, it’s a new environment, and you’ll likely meet a bunch of great people and learn more about yourself. (I did not take subs and am no longer on any medication at all)

Getting rid of this was the most important thing in my life to ensure the success of everything else so I was down to do whatever it took.

I am back to myself now, living with my girlfriend and I honestly feel amazing, craving are basically at 0, fitness has absolutely boomed, my relationships are better, I’m more funny, more engaged in conversations and able to think quickly on my feet. Work success has gone up. Basically so many things are so much fucking better I can’t believe it.

I do still miss being able to change how I feel instantly and the level of relaxation I could attain but I am learning to sit with my feelings and if I do a lot in the day I feel accomplished and relaxed at the end.

One of the main benefits I’ve noticed is that I can actually enjoy the present moment now. Before, even when I was doing the most fun shit, there was something in the back of my mind just wishing for it to be over so I could go get high and scroll. Like what the fuck is that. Such a sad pathetic way to live.

All the joys in life had become so diminished compared to the high of 7oh that I did not much enjoy anything else. 7oh was my main source of happiness and all the wonderful things about being a human just sort of felt bleh. I never want to go back to that place. I like being excited for my morning coffee, a meaningful conversation, an unexpected visit from a friend, a good sunset, etc. 7oh will rob all of that from you and towards the end give you nothing but grief, shame, and anxiety.

Getting off 7oh and getting sober is the foundation for a successful, happy, and fulfilling life. Get off this gas station bullshit as soon as you can. Do anything and everything to get off and stay off. Your life will be so much better long term :)

Been taking Kratom for 10+ years and I finally want to quit.

After many years with kratom, it's time for us to break up. I'm trying to reduce withdrawal symptoms as much as possible. I've experienced symptoms before when I would forget to take a dose before work and it definitely sucks. I plan on doing a taper. Are there any supplements I can take to reduce the symptoms?

Quitting but extremely depressed

Hi everyone. I’m new here, but I’ve been watching this community from the sidelines for a while. I’ve never really been active ever.

Anywho, I’ve been cutting back in order to quit for about 2.5 weeks. I went from 900mg a day to 150-200mg a day.
I’ve been doing roughly 900mg a day for almost 2 years with the exception of quitting for one month.

However… the immense depression has been insane. I used to be on SSRIs (Lexapro) before. But I recently quit Lexapro completely after cutting back slowly as well because I didn’t know the interactions it had with kratom and because I just don’t want to have a dependency to Lexapro.

Additionally, I want to eventually quit completely after “stabilizing” my mindset at 150mg. But it’s like every effing day is a struggle to get through. I also suffer from
ADHD, not taking any medication for that, so kratom helped with this, too. Now that I’m leaving this behind, I have zero motivation to do anything and everything feels like such a waste. I’m so tired of this loop I want to be off of this shit already. I’ve never been addicted to any damn thing.

If anyone has any specific encouragement suggestions - ANYTHING!! It would help.

Also, side note: I’ve been considering getting on suboxone but I don’t want to go through the whole daunting experience of being treated a certain way, losing (work) opportunities if that applies, or just having it on my medical record in general.

As mentioned, any direction would help. Is all of this normal? How long should I wait before going CT.

Day 3 CT

I am on day 3 CT of a 6 year addiction, starting with plain powder and worked my way to club13 215mg kratom extracts (not 7oh) by the last 1.5-2 years. I was doing about 1.5-2 shots per day in the end. This quit has been a little different than the last (5 months clean after the 4-4.5 years on powder. And I must say I remember by day 3 the physical withdraws being much much worse. This quit, day 1 was pretty challenging after about 24 hours. Cold sweats, elevated body temperature, RLS. However, after that first day, it has mainly just been depression and lack of motivation to do anything. I will note this time around I am taking a lot more helper meds and vitamins. I’ll list everything I’m doing below.

I keep telling myself the worst of the withdraws has yet to come, but I am beginning to wonder if that is actually true. Obviously I know PAWS will stick around for a while, but does anyone have a similar experience at a similar dosage where they really only saw the physical sides on day 1? Not that it will change anything, I will continue to embrace the suck. Was just curious if anyone had a similar experience. I was expecting this to be much worse than when I quit powder.

Along with the below, I am using 1500mg of Liposmal vitamin C every few hours throughout the day.

Morning:
Wake up - amino acids with water no food

30min - 1 hour after with food:
500mcg vitamin B12 (1 pills)
Probiotic (1 pill)
Men’s multivitamin
200mg l-theanine (2 pills)
100mcg vitamin D (2 pills)
200mg Magnesium Glycinate (2 pills)
750mcg Semax (15 units)
500mcg selank (10 units)

Bedtime:
750mg GABA (1 pill)
200mg l-theanine (2 pills)
200mg magnesium glycinate (2 pills)
470mg ashwagandha (1 pill)
600mg NAC (1 pill)
1000mcg selank (20 units)

Question for those quitting white rabbits/mitra kratom drinks

I have some questions for those who have quit from the drinks. I was having about 4 drinks a day at max for about the last 4 weeks. I was alternating some days on and some days off and had a week off about 10 days ago due to a trip.

Since I got back, I had pretty much 4 drinks a day every day. I dropped to 3 yesterday and I'm planning on going cold turkey due to the length of time I was taking it.

Has anyone gone through something similar? I feel so warm today and just out of it/tired. I'm wondering if anyone has advice on what my timeline or symptoms should look like. I have a work event in a few days and a big trip in 12 days and I'm just hoping I'll be ok for those (not profusely sweating for no reason).

Day 6–finally some sleep with help of gabapentin

Day 6 CT, from a rollercoaster of the last 5–almost 6 years of daily use. I did have only one quit around 3 years ago that lasted about 9-10 months. Otherwise, daily use.

I’m gonna be so for real, I think kratom was killing me. It landed me in the ER a couple weeks ago with tachycardia. The last couple months, when I hear they’d be banning 7oh, I decided to try it. My junkie logic was that I wouldn’t be able to get hooked since they’d be banning shortly. I used that and plain leaf together for about 2.5 months until I started having these heart related issues. I’d use it for about a week then have these severe tachycardia events with my heart rate between 130-150 just sitting still. My hands, ankles, feet, and face would all swell. It was terrifying. So I stopped messing with 7oh. But I think that those events must’ve made me more sensitive to just plain leaf. I could no longer take my regular daily dose (~45 gpd) without making my heart race. So I cut down to just maintenance doses of 18 gpd. Did that for a while, then stupidly tried a couple 7oh tabs I had left over. Well, that made me practically allergic to all kratom as best I can describe it. Literally any dose, even just a little bit of plain leaf, I’m talking like 6 g, would send my heart racing.

So, I just quit CT. I had literally 4 clonidine and hydroxizine as helpers. RLS was killing me. I have read mixed reviews re: hydroxizine exasperation of RLS. But in not sure if it was the acutes of WD or the med. Either way, I stopped taking it after night 2. I was getting about 2 hours of sleep the first 3 nights. Taking hot baths every couple hours. 4th night was better, which I attribute to starting black seed oil and a magnesium supplement—but still only about 5 hours sleep (which felt amazing).

Then yesterday, I got my hands on gabapentin—absolute game changer. I took 300 mg around 6:45 after dinner. I know they say it takes an hour plus to kick in, but I swear I felt it 15 min after taking it. Just a slight dizziness that subsided quickly. Otherwise, no effect EXCEPT the absolute disappearance of any RLS through the night. Almost 9 HOURS OF SLEEP. I feel like a new person. I am, of course, very aware of the risks of gabapentin, and I have a very limited supply. So I plan to take it only 2 more days and only at night.

To be completely honest, so far, this quit has been easier than the first. I was down bad the first go round which made me so fearful to try again. And before I knew it, 3 more years had passed on this shit. Also, the discussion around subsequent quits being harder and harder made me anxious. Maybe I’ve just been scared straight by the cardiac issues? But I feel less of the physical symptoms throughout the day.

I want everyone to know that this community has been incredibly helpful throughout both my quits. I can’t even express how helpful. Thank you. I wish you all the best, truly. I wish for everyone feeling hopeless or shameful right now to know that there is light at the end of this tunnel. The time to quit is now. I do believe that kratom can possibly have some therapeutic benefits, but I think that’s for people who can use it at therapeutic doses rather than seeking euphoric effects. I’m definitely in the latter group, and have struggled with practically every opioid out there—so I knew I was wired for OUD behavior.

Moving forward, I know that staying clean will be the hardest part. I’m not sure yet how to approach that considering that I live in a very remote area and resources are limited. But I do know that once I’m through the acute WD that I need to make a plan for staying well. If anyone has any resources they can recommend for someone living literally in the middle of nowhere, I’d gladly welcome any insight.

Thank you all so much. I’m rooting for each and every one of us. Love y’all.
