I found this factory sealed PS2 for $350(yes it’s still brand new), and I am really excited to use it, knowing it’s nice and crisp. However, I’m starting to wonder if I should just hang onto it and get a used one?

Hi everyone! Got it just today, and so excited. Im waiting for an hdmi adapter to arrive, but as far as I can tell, it turns on, fan and disc bay work.
Dude who sold it to me also included a DualShock 3 (???) and I’m not really sure what do to with it.
Now just gotta go to street markets and find some games, I accept any recommendations :)

Decided to get into retro gaming. The PS2 was my first console as a kid. Last week I picked up a PS2 Slim, a little 19" tv, and some speakers for the tv. Im loving it. So much nostalgia. And so many of the games held up so well. What games am I missing?

Stumbled upon this locally and I have been looking for more ps2 RPGs for my collection, Star Ocean I have heard of but know little of, I could tell everything was in the box because of heft so it was hard to pass on for 15 with tax

Went to browse the 4 for $20 deals and bailed on that plan when I saw this.

Almost no scratches too. PSU just needs a recap i have some on standby obviously.

So I recently acquired a PS2 SCPH-30004 as part of a bundle and wanted to set it up a my main console for both PS1 and PS2 games.
However, I noticed that games look considerably worse when played on the PS2. Edges are super jagged.
I‘ve attached two pictures from Resident Evil 2. Same TV, same composite cable. Texture Smoothing is off.

Is this normal? Everyone else online claims they should look identical.

I'm so excited! I played the first Sonic The Hedgehog a little and I'm NOT good at it, I keep wanting to just hold right and go as fast as possible but obviously that doesn't tend to work out. Anyone got any recommendations for games I should try first? There's 28 of them so I'm a little spoiled for choice lol

It dose not look that bad but i don’t want my games to get scratched I heard I could just tape it down but is that really ok for the ps2? What should I do leave it or fix it thanks!

im pretty sure they gonna love the lego games, ive also found ratchet gladiator that looks fun, what other split screen coop would kids around that age like for the ps2?

pretty much the title, have been looking for this game and was so excited to find it for a good price, turns out the price was because it was scratched and untested. I don't have a ps2 with me to test it, so thought I'd turn to the experts and see what the consensus was on its possible playability. thanks for input! sorry if the video isn't very clear, most of the scratches look shallow and straight but there's a fair few of them 😔

I thought I'd get a PS2 fat for nostalgia reasons as a birthday gift to myself.

I specifically want a fat, because that is what I played on as a kid.

I came across a SCPH-50004 PAL in very good condition near me. Is this a good model to collect? The guy who has it says he calibrated the laser and replaced the CMOS battery.

Or should I be looking out for a different model?

Can someone tell me how much storage do you get on a 8MB, 16MB, 32MB, 64 and 125MB Memory Card PS2? I am talking about the useable space on the card.

So I've been thinking of buying a PS2 for awhile now and finally pulled the trigger. I'm currently on a Dreamcast journey to complete the full NA set, but also wanted to enjoy some PS2 games I miss. Not a fan of emulation and love the discs, booting up the systems and the controllers, which is why I torture my wallet.

But I do have a couple questions regarding the PS2, since I havent owned once since the PS3 had come out, and I also don't follow much of retro communities.

-Are there any mods for the PS2 that would be fun to add or tinker with? I know theres the free mcboot thing, but not referring to that. On the PS2 journey I'm really just going to buy the ones I miss playing or may not have had the chance to back in the day. I'm talking more like a wifi adapter, maybe some kind of LEDs to bling the system out, or maybe even just a fan swap or anything that may improve cooling or performance of the system in some way?

-Any must have accessories? Or is there a hands down top controller people recommend for the PS2? Or is it really just the good ol dualshock that reigns?

-Must play games? The system I purchased came with GTA 3, Vice City, and San Andreas. Also bought NFS Underground 2, Xenosaga, and Tony Hawk Underground 2. (plan on getting THUG1 and NFSU 1 eventually) Also plan on getting the other xenosagas.. when my wallet allows it lol

-Any preference between the fat and slim model? Do either tend to have a higher fail rate or anything? I had gone with the fat model for the sake of getting a PS3 eventually and just stacking it to conserve space. Something I can't do with the slim model with top disc load.

Good afternoon folks. Does anyone here have the Bitfunx Ocean Blue shell? Just wondering what is the quality of the plastic like, and please post images below :) I'm considering getting one but they aren't cheap. Also, are the PS2 logo stickers available to make it look like an OEM case?

I've recently started using my PS2 again after many years in storage and it takes at least 1-2 minutes to recognize discs and load the games. I watched videos on taking the PS2 apart to clean the lens and feel confident that I can do it. Has anyone done it and actually fixed a slow loading problem? Is there anything else I should be trying?

Hey all. I'd like to play backup or imported games, but specifically want to include PSX games too! The 3900x doesn't have any softmods that allow PSX games that privilege due to the system architecture. Are there any available chips (that have enough of a following for people to offer the modding service) that would enable me to do that? Just really want to play the patched English translation of AC3 Electrosphere on my CRT. Thanks!

i recently got a hard drive and a network adapter clone and nothing can detect it

in wlaunchelf hdd manager, it says there isn't one connected and opl just gives me an error

im 99.9% sure the console just doesn't like the hard drive but i wanna make sure thats the reason before i drop more money on another hard drive when i could've used this one
