Question on documents: Polish/American living in USA
Hello Everyone,
I'm not sure if this is the right place to post.
I am a Polish American citizen living in the USA. I got married a little while back and sent in documentation to the Polish embassy to have it registered, only to have it sent back to me requesting more information. I also recently gave birth and want to make sure my daughter (3 months) also gets a Polish passport.
How important is it that I register my marriage with the Polish embassy? Should I focus more on getting myself a new passport and applying for my daughter instead? Do you have any good resources for me, preferably with translations (my Polish has deteriorated over my time in the States, and legal language is hard for me to comprehend)?
Any and all advice is deeply appreciated!

If you don't register your marriage, there can be issues with all subsequent paperwork including your passport.
Do you have any good resources for me, preferably with translations (my Polish has deteriorated over my time in the States, and legal language is hard for me to comprehend)?
Official resources on the matter, which is as authoritative as you get. Keep in mind that if your Polish identity documents have expired long ago, you may end up having to go through confirmation of citizenship, which takes ~2 years to complete by latest reports.

Register the marriage first, especially if you changed your surname. Then transcribe your daughter’s US birth certificate into the Polish register. She needs a Polish birth certificate and PESEL before receiving a passport. Renewing your own passport does not replace these steps. The Polish consular website in the US has English guides for both birth registration and a child’s first passport 👌

Ok, moja historia. Teraz w marcu będę w Polsce i zgłoszę małżeństwo. Trzeba mieć przetłumaczone dokumenty, zapłacić kwotę jaką Ci powiedzą w municipality i już. W stanach jest to o wiele trudniejsze do zrobienia.
