The other day I got a pinball videogame on steam, after only having played Space Cadet back in the day, and got thoroughly hooked. Since then, I've been delving into the history of pinball and learning the lingo and techniques, so that I can be as knowledgeable as possible.
I'm having a blast.
Unfortunately, I don't have access to the real thing where I live. Such places are few and far between, and traveling to the closest one would mean quite the journey.
My question is threefold:
First, how realistically can a videogame portray the physical machine? (I'm playing Pinball FX, on the "realistic" setting).
Second, for those of you who either have access to, or have acquired your own physical machines, do you also play the digital version of the thing, or does playing the real thing take away from the digital?
Third, is there anyone out there who actually prefers the digital?
I guess that's three questions.
Whether physical or digital, I think I found a new hobby.
