Before the latest update, MCP & Tool Settings had Groups. You could create a group (e.g. a "Work" sandbox), choose which MCP servers belonged to it, and map a ring gesture to it. I had:
- Hold & Talk → Index agent with the built-ins (notes, reminders, calendar, timers) plus my MCP server
- Double click & hold → a separate group containing only my MCP server
That second gesture was the only reliable way to reach my custom tools. On Hold & Talk, the built-in actions tend to win: a work to-do with a deadline became a Reminder ("Failed to parse time"), and other commands just became "Added to Notes to self."
In 1.15.0 (firmware 3.75.0, Android / Pixel 11):
- Groups are gone from MCP & Tool Settings
- Each gesture can only choose Hybrid / Remote / Local Index agent, Web search, Webhook only, or Nothing
- All agent gestures now share one Index Agent action list, so both gestures behave the same
- The MCP server gear only edits the connection (URL, auth header, prompts), with no per-tool or per-gesture options
- "Any unclear requests become a…" only offers Note or Reminder, with no "do nothing" or "ask MCP" option
My MCP tools remain reachable, and the server logs show the app listing them, but the agent often skips them and files the request as a note. Light commands are 0/3 right now, and every one became "Added to Notes to self."
Requests:
- Bring back groups, or let each gesture choose which actions and MCP servers it can use
- Add a fallback option that doesn't create a note (or one that sends unclear requests to an MCP tool)
- Some way to tell the agent to prefer MCP tools over built-ins for certain phrases
Is anyone else seeing this since the update? Is there a new place to configure this that I'm missing?
