I regret buying a RTX 4080 instead of a 5090 but I wasn’t keeping up with the market much then even my 4080 is worth more 😂

that one person that has to play CS in 1000 fps

1

u/ThankGodImBipolar 8h ago

Can Nvidia cards even hit 1000 FPS in CS? 😂

u/Soleks2000 5700x3d/9070xt 8h ago

I have no idea. I was just throwing out a ridiculous number that I thought of 5090 would be able to do.

It was a wrap at least 3 years ago

There are hundreds available here in Norway.

But hey, they haven't really been "available" for most people for ages anyway.

I'd much rather just wait for the RTX 5080 Super (24GB) to come out than buy a 5090.

There are used 4090s going for $3k right now. A brand new 24gb 5080 would easily approach that price.

As a 5080 owner its great that i can say "i got the best GPU a money can buy"

1

Oh noooo I just had 8k saved to get one!

NewEgg still has them if you still want to be an absolute moron with your money!

I have to think a lot of retailers do not see much reason to even stock them anymore since the demand from regular consumers at the current price point has to be pretty low.

1

u/rolandguy85 9h ago

I might try and grab one of those 24gb 5080s when they drop and just stop buying any upgrades for like 8yrs

1

u/Puzzleheaded_Dig8990 9h ago

The RTX 4090 is always an option as well

1

u/rolandguy85 9h ago

100%, I have a 9070xt desktop rig now and it’s great. But a 24gb 5080 would be way more future proof. But I will say 9060xt 16gb, 16gb ddr5, and a 9600x is the best value desktop rig you can get right now as far as I’m concerned if you’re building.

No one is buying a 5090 as a gamer.

4

u/thatkidwithagun 9800X3D | 9070 XT | 32GB 6000 C30 9h ago

No one is should buying a 5090 as a gamer.

FTFY. But the sad truth is that people will spend all sorts of money if they have it and just want the "best". Just ask my friend who had a 4090, then bought a 5090 only 8 months later for more than double what he paid for his 4090. No hate at all, but the value proposition of these cards make no sense if all you do is play video games.

1

u/Valkanith 9h ago

That’s the definition of somebody just trying to impress people with buying the latest and greatest has nothing to do with using a computer “look at me everyone I have 5090 now after selling my 4090 am I cool now?”

1

u/thatkidwithagun 9800X3D | 9070 XT | 32GB 6000 C30 9h ago

Here's the funny bit about that; His 4090 is sitting in his closet, he won't even sell it.

2

u/SteepStep 9950X3D | 5090 | 64GB 6000CL28 | 13TB NVME 9h ago

I don’t blame him. Might as well sit on it like gold if the value just keeps going up.

1

u/Puzzleheaded_Dig8990 9h ago

Why would he not want to sell his 4090 and make back the money that he spent on it?

1

u/12amoore 8h ago

Pleb poor comment tbh. These types of comments are such a brain dead sheep like comment shouting the same shit they saw someone else post. People 1000% buy these for gaming GPU’s. It’s literally a much better card than a 5080 for more FPS, plain and simple

1

u/Valkanith 8h ago

But why is this “gaming card” freaking going up to $8000, might even go past $10,000 ffs just tells how awful the market is

2

u/12amoore 8h ago

We get the market is awful no one is saying otherwise! But to say it’s not a gaming card when it was marketed to gamers is pure cope. Can it be used as a workstation card? Yeah sure

1

u/Puzzleheaded_Dig8990 8h ago

The 5090 is not a consumer gaming card bud, it's a workstation and computing card. You want to know who is actually going to benefit the most from a 5090? Video editors, 3D artists, and data scientists. Not gamers. Stop with this elitist mindset that a 5090 is apparently needed for gaming, it's not. It's completely overkill and everyone knows that.

0

u/12amoore 8h ago

Marketed to gamers when it released bud. It literally is for gaming lmfao. No one said it is absolutely needed for gaming. But saying it isn’t needed for gaming is flat out incorrect too.

1

u/Valkanith 8h ago

If you only buy it for gaming then that is a stupid decision unless you’re filthy rich and made out of money

1

u/Puzzleheaded_Dig8990 7h ago

Doesn't matter. People who are running demanding workstations are going to benefit from a 5090 WAY MORE than gamers ever will. Simple as that. 32GB of VRAM is not needed for gaming, that kind of memory is needed for 3D work and 8K video editing. I don't know where you are getting this idea that a 5090 is needed for gaming, but you need to stop spreading that idea around. It's complete bullshit and you know it, you just don't want to admit it.

0

u/12amoore 7h ago

Ah yes I care so much about my thought process for a redditor. What’s really simple is calling a spade a spade and acknowledging the 5090 can absolutely be used and can be needed in demanding games and settings. To say it’s not needed is cope. Simple as that

1

u/hawkdeathpaw 9h ago

its all ai garbage who cares about your stuiped ai model

-4

u/EmpatheticRock 9h ago

I am a gamer and have 2. Kind of a stupid statement you made

2

u/Motor_Perception_648 9h ago

Im talking about the average gamer. Not one in a million.

2

u/Puzzleheaded_Dig8990 9h ago

Good for you, do you want a cookie for wasting money on 2 5090s that you don't need? The 5090 is not a consumer gaming card, it's a workstation and computing card. Do you know who actually needs a 5090? 3D artists, video editors, and data scientists. Not gamers.

1

u/EmpatheticRock 1m ago

You sound poor

u/Mr_CJ_ 8h ago

The new GPUs are coming late next year.
