Copilot taking resources is a big reason I don’t wanna upgrade. I don’t care if it’s optional I just don’t want it baked into everything and constantly scanning everything on my PC.

giving it access to my file system is terrifying, because you just know its going to leak something out onto the internet uncontrollably.

Can't upgrade my, albeit pretty old, computer to win 11 even though everything I need it for works just fine on win 10. So...if security updates stop next year as anticipated, I'll just install Linux instead. I'm not paying AI inflated prices on a new computer just so Microsoft's AI can exist on my machine (I'd disable all AI functions anyway).

I’ve thought about switching too because of this. I really don’t care about it existing I just hate the idea of it taking up resources and, like you said, inflating the costs when my use of it will be infinitesimal, if I use it at all.

Windows 11 updates bricked my PC for the 2nd time recently and forced me to revert the update. Shits fucking infuriating.

Didn’t know that. I’ll have to look into if I stay with Windows, thanks!

I've never had it on mine, so it has to be possible somehow. Worst case scenario you can probably uninstall it

It barely uses anything. Megabytes of storage and memory, low priority memory, and doesn't take up any CPU cycles unless you're actively using it and even that is only enough CPU to run what's basically a web page since it's not running locally.
