I wonder what kinda feedback they want. They shove copilot up everyone's throat and yet no one used it.

I've been giving feedback every time it pops up asking. The feedback is always "How do I get copilot to fuck off?"

nooo, Copilot on notepad.exe is a must have! I swear bro, please try it, pleaaaaase - Microslop

The fact that notepad had a remote code execution bug is wild. Why is a text editor that shouldn't have any network capabilities capable of getting hacked

a sloppy Samsung update bricked a ton of smart-fridges in Korea

welcome to the roaring 20s

That specifically was my breaking point with Windows, and finally got me to switch to Linux for good. I know that doesn't work for everyone, but for me, it's been night and day.

I don't have time to dismantle a decently working system and re-do the whole thing, but I'll at least try linux out whenever I upgrade post-rampocalypse

regarding notepad I just use the old one, which is better anyway, it's still there, just has to be re-enabled in place of the new one

Yeah, fair. I bounced off it for years and years for similar reasons. It only hit the point that I thought it was worth it, and actually stuck with it, in the last year.

Good luck if you give it a go!

“Make it work better.”

Pretty much why I don’t use AI, outside of the terrible impact of it. Whenever I end up resorting to checking to see if AI can solve whatever problem I’m having, it either very clearly and quickly doesn’t, or I get sucked into correcting it over and over as a sunk cost fallacy until it spits out the thing I need, which takes basically the same amount of time as it’d take me to do it myself.

I'm a heavy user of an unlimited Claude budget at work, but otherwise have been a pretty light user in my personal life, Opus 5.5 finally made me cave and buy a sub this month, its probably the first model where I'm actually impressed on average by what it can do and how it reasons, and its nowhere near as sycophantic as the older models. The free stuff you get when you just make an account on chatgpt is not really comparable imo.

Ive had good results as far back as Sonnet and Opus 4.6. Would love to know your token usage for work purposes

What kind of things can it do that are notably better? I use both the pro and free versions of Gemini quite a bit and never notice much difference.

2

u/EveningAnt3949 7d ago

This is tricky, because Gemini isn't as good as Claude or ChatGPT when it comes to language.

The best models at a higher thinking level are much better at analysing text and writing complex text, but that requires some user input as well.

And deep research is also where the paid subscriptions are just better.

Opus 5.5 is pretty damn good at image analysis too. I let it run wild in a folder of a few hundred camera RAW files today to see if I could simplify my culling/rating workflow for photography and it was more or less in line with what I would have done myself.

Have you tried any frontier models lately? This was more of an issue last year than it is now. The current models work even better if you run them in a harness.

if the demo is garbage then why would I pay for the actual product?

AI competency is a requirement in high tech workforce is why

let your employer pay for it then lol

Judging AI from copilot is like buying the cheapest laptop at target to play games on and deciding all PC gaming sucks because the performance was bad lmao

u/Scared-Section-5108 7d ago

Out of all the AIs I have tried, Copilot was by far the worst especially at providing additional info I never asked for.

Except for...you know...vast amounts of enterprise customers. It literally dominates the space.

Feedback that validates middle management's feelings

1

u/mrjackspade 7d ago

No one in this read read the fucking article apparently because this was an opt-in feature that was only available to Windows Insiders, which in itself is an opt-in program.

u/LordBrandon 7d ago

They want you to let them shove whatever they want down your throat. I suspect the "feedback" they responded to was falling market share.

1

u/bananapudding877 7d ago

They listen to feedback? The Feedback Hub seems to be a black hole where suggestions go in and nothing comes out

They shoved their corporate slop, the data harvesting, and wanted us to feed their Ai, train it for them, so they can build monetizable services and sell it back to us... lol

fool us once shame on them, fool us twice shame on us. So here we are in a technofuedalist stand off, corporations want us to keep feeding them for free, whilst they profit off us, and from us.... nah, this is not the kind of relationship anyone wants.

I am certain if the Ai actually did stuff other than steal all our data and documents with zero value they could have pushed it on us through the useful idiots who give away freedoms and liberties for convinience. But since this isnt happening, here we are, and here is micro$lop feeding us slop for us to give them free labour and data... not on.

I use it all the time. So does everyone I work with. Maybe unemployed degen gamers don’t, Idk.

u/IgnatiusRileyFreeman 7d ago

Of course you use copilot, you literally run on the same software, clanker

30

u/Crodface 7d ago

Hey wuddup, fellow employed person.

Fuck copilot and AI. You and everyone you work with are actually writing worse emails now that don't answer my fucking questions.

8

u/Then-Departure4896 7d ago

If you think using AI for your job means something about you, well you’re right. It does. But not what you think lmao

6

u/Disma 7d ago

I find it more likely that you're a MS employee or shill than a person who enjoys copilot.

3

u/AgtNulNulAgtVyf 7d ago

A lot of people I work with lean on it heavily. They also tend to be the people who are really bad at their jobs, but now think a verbose output they don't understand means they're good at their job. That bad news for you is if you use it heavily in your work you're probably also the person in the team who's bad at your job.

My head chef gave me a recipe the other day, there was 500g of salt in a recipe that yielded 10 kg. I questioned it and he said "Oh the AI probably fucked that up just do it to taste instead".

It's a race to the bottom

Had a total dolt of a site manager a while back who was obsessed with asking ChatGPT everything and would constantly try to plug his/ChatGPT's opinion into everything. Most of us were convinced that he was completely inept because he delegated all this thoughts to whatever Sam Altman would feed him.

Note that we're a very niche industry, most all the data scraped by AI chat bots were scraped from papers that I or our other engineers/researchers wrote (or papers written by our competitors)
