Base Game Help - Spoilers OK! Dark Bramble Frustration/Help Spoiler

• Upvotes

>!I’m near the end of the game, and I am/was loving it, probably my second favourite game ever. Most of the game has been really fun and rewarding. However, I’m at the end stage now and navigating Dark Bramble is sucking all the joy out of my experience. I’ve already been to the Vessel and marked it on HUD and have been able to obviously therefore get there once before, but now I just can’t for the life of me to drop off you-know-what there. I don’t particularly struggle once the red seed is entered bc obviously you can do nothing and coast, but I can’t get INTO the red seed in the first place. I’ve just attempted it and I kid you not, I died 13 times. I spent 2hr+ just dying without getting into the red seed once. I took less than that to figure out Ash Twin Project, Sun Station and Quantum Moon combined. it’s kind of sucking the joy out of it. I know they’re blind so don’t thrust, but here’s my issue. I go into Dark Bramble and thrust towards the red seed. One of two things happen - Either I collide with something like a branch and my ship goes off course & therefore I either go stationary or have to thrust to correct my aim (therefore die by anglerfish) OR I get near the Red Seed but I’m not perfectly aligned with the hole so either crash or float past it. I can’t match velocity or thrust bc instant anglerfish death.

Any solution or tips would be great. I am happy with spoilers if I missed something earlier. Please don’t just say “thrust away from the anglerfish” because i’ve tried so many times to do exactly that and whenever I get near the red seed, same fate. I’m slightly misaligned so either crash & have to thrust, or thrust bc I’m floating away. anglerfish kills me each time. Its genuinely making me want to just watch a video of the ending but I think that’d be a really underwhelming ending to such a great game. pls help me salvage my love for it! thanks so much.

I especially want to know technique wise because I have to do this while carrying the *** so I don’t want to waste even longer loops trying to catch lighting in a bottle just cuz I got cocky getting lucky once on DB practices.!<

DLC Help - NO Spoilers Please! Have I seen the worst of it? (DLC spoilers) Spoiler

• Upvotes

I know the game warns you the DLC might be “intense” but OMG I was not prepared for the jump scare I just experienced.

I just found the 3 secret locations and watched the slides I found there. Earlier in the game I had come across one antler guy when I followed a green light and he got me and blew out my lantern - wasn’t too scary. I really thought to myself “oh is that all?”

Fast forward to now I just extinguished all of the lights in that big house (after crossing an invisible bridge?!), and when I crossed over to light the inside bridge I ran into an antler guy out of NOWHERE. I’ve never played any type of scary game before and it got me good.

But now I’m wondering - did I experience the worst of the scares or will there be more?

I can deal with knowing they’re out and about with their little lanterns but if other scary things start to happen I might have to turn on the “reduce frights” option. My heart can’t take it! 💀

I also have a theory - I did see an antler guy watching a reel or whatever, and when I shine my light on the screen he disappears. Do I need to do that before extinguishing the house? I honestly can’t handle running into him again lmao. I assume these guys aren’t bad and whatever they’re up to is just misunderstood by me still, but they’ve still scared the shit out of me. (I know I said no spoilers but I’d appreciate if someone could confirm whether this is right so I can be a tiny bit less afraid to try again).

DLC Help - Hints Only! Need some guidance! Spoiler

I’m trying to do stuff in the shrouded woodlands in the house full of the creatures that plays music. Every time I get inside, the music stops, the doors lock, and I’m inside but the dudes don’t attack me until I try to exit. Can I have some hints on what I’m supposed to do to get around them to the fireplace?? I’ve tried about 7-8 different times and I can’t for the life of me figure it out

Real Life Stuff Pro tip for veteran players: do drugs and alcohol NSFW Spoiler

You say this game can only be played once and has no replay value?

I've played this game about 2 years ago during the dark ages of my unemployment. I remember you have to align something something to open something then you go through some centrifuge to get the thing and then you put that thing into another thing on another planet then you get into the forest and end the game or something something.

Sound pathetic? WRONG!!!! IT'S PEAK! I literally remember 10% of the game barely. I can already see myself playing this masterpiece again in another 2 years, I just have to keep drinking and smoking weed, there's just this little funny tingly feeling on the left side of my upper chest and the lower side of my right, but WHO GIVES A FUCK I can get to play OUTER WILDS again SOON

WEEEEEEE

DLC Help - Hints Only! Is there an easier way to get around them? Spoiler

Finished the main game recently, liked it a lot, got the DLC, been going through that.

Ive explored a decent chunk of the overworld in The Stranger and the main lead i have now is to go into the dreamworld and find, I assume, the tablets used to seal the coffin. Ive found all 3 secret locations, but I dont get a whole lot of exploring done in the dreamworld before getting caught by the owl folk.

My game is extremely dark. I followed the recommended settings for the gamma and it is all the way down, so I can barely see a thing when I go into these places, even with the lantern. But focusing the lantern so I can actually see where I am going means I easily draw the attention of the owl folk. I could raise the gamma so I can see better in the dark, but that feels a bit like cheating to me.

So, what I wanna know is, is there an easier way to deal with the owl folk? Maybe stun them when they notice you, or distract them when they are nearby so they go somewhere else? I just want to know if there's an in-universe way to make it easier to get around that I have missed. If there isn't anything I guess ill just raise the gamma, cause i really cant see in the dark there.

Real Life Stuff Betelgeuse is dimming again since August 2026

Post image

I thought this was a cool comparison picture of a real life star about to go nova compared with the model that was used in the game. You can even see the roiling and bubbling of Betelgeuse, as well as the star dimming before it's end. Credit to the devs for making something seem out of this world, but also so close to fact.

Custom decorations?

I’m interested in having a large-ish floor lamp made to look like Slate’s campfire. Doing an outer wilds theme for my living room. Any recommendations on where to find something like this would be appreciated. I’ve seen some smaller campfire lamps online but I’d like something bigger if it’s an option. Planning on getting a bunch of little stump floor mats for sitting around the campfire 🏕️ 🔥

DLC Help - Hints Only! stuck on the dlc Spoiler

As the title says, I'm stuck on the dlc.

I accidentally discovered putting down the lantern and jumping off the raft before I even entered a vault.

I've been in vaults one and three, and the codes aren't there. I've been in the artefact testing place and I tried artifact two lol.

I have no "more to explore" things on my ship log and the only two question marks on the ship log (the weird coffin and the second vault).

Is there something that makes it worth going in the second vault because I don't need the second code, or is there somewhere I need to go?

so I finished the game today and I'm completely speechless but the one thing that I don't remember seeing is solanum saying that famous quote people are saying on outer wilds videos "discover my quantum mechanics" and the one saying "the universe is, and we are" am I forgetting something or is it a community thing?

Base Game Appreciation/Discussion Maybe the Nomai knew how to not rip da fabric Spoiler

Edit: before you say that information is treated differently than matter, this theory could be an explanation as to why this is the case to begin with. Also sorry for the fortress of text

So, major spoiler ahead, but only for the base game

I've always wondered why on our last loop where we enter the eye, how we can allow the loop to end, yet the fabric of space time never collapses.

I'm pretty sure the irl answer is that the creators never considered it, but I think there's a genuine in universe answer as to why.

We know that when the hatchling enters the time portal in the ash twin at the end of the loop, they have to continue doing so for every loop, or else causality breaks and the fabric of spacetime shatters. So why doesn't the information from the probe of former loops act the same? Why does the universe allow the loop to end?

My hypothesis is that the Nomai knew they would run into this issue, and if they went forward with the ash twin project without being careful, the universe would never allow them to end the loop. I think they found a solution to this. They would have to figure out how to separate the information of the coordinates of the eye of the universe from the causality of it being found in a former loop. It would have to be a system that, in theory, already had the coordinates before the time loop even started.

While there may be multiple ways to do this, the only one I can think of is some equivalent to the library of Babel. If you don't know what it is, the library of Babel is the concept of a library with randomly generated text, where every possible combination of characters on a page already exists. This means the library already contains every piece of knowledge there could be. Every story that could be told. The problem is that it would have an infinitely greater amount of lies, and an even greater amount of undecipherable nonsense. You can check it out on this website. https://libraryofbabel.info/

I think that the Nomai had their own equivalent hooked up to the ash twin project, and the way they might've stored the coordinates of the eye would be the page that contains the coordinates in such a library. In theory, with a randomized number, they could've been given that page without a time loop, however unlikely.

It would then follow that any page number sent back in time would have to be disguised as a randomly generated number, or else there would be a path of causality. This would not only be true of the coordinates, but also our memories of the former loops as well.

All this to say, I think that the ash twin project was never intended by the Nomai to be a true time loop, but instead to be more akin to a quantum computer that collapses a superposition to find a solution for a problem it was tasked with, and that they simply had to set up the possibility of a time loop to give the "computer" the conditions it needed to collapse the superposition.

Otherwise, if all the loops where the probe fired really happened, and we used the coordinates to get to the eye, then waited 22 minutes, the fabric of spacetime would've collapse, just like how it does if the hatchling enters the time portal.

Hi all! A while back I did a cover for the Main Theme for Outer Wilds, my favorite game ever, and one of the best ost's ever written. I found it quite fun to try to recreate the whole soundtrack only using guitars, so I hope you enjoy it!

Base Game Help - Spoilers OK! A Final Question Spoiler

I have one final and probably stupid question before I finally put Outer Wilds away until I'm ready to do a new playthrough.

The Ash Twin Project. Is it just perpetually marked as having more to explore because of it being tied to the final puzzle or is there something I overlooked?

The rumor section for it has three entries not counting the initial one.

The eight monoliths

The Sun Station notes

And the supernova notes

Base and DLC Appreciation/Discussion Finished the game for the first time today Spoiler

It's 2.30 in the morning and i will wholeheartedly say this was one of the best games i've ever played with an absolutely beautiful ending. From jumping into the geyser before syncing with the ash twin project (made me think this game was permadeath) to reaching the eye of the universe, this game was magical every step of the way. From the simple yet vivid graphics to the amazing music, except for the elkians in shrouded woods because why would you listen to something that creepy, i fell in love with this universe. A big thanks to everyone behind this game and an even bigger thanks to the music crew, outer wilds is one of a kind!

Base Game Help - NO spoilers please! New Player

So I followed the directive and purchased the game knowing absolutely nothing about it.

I booted, talked to everyone I saw, read everything I passed, did the cave repair demo, got looked at by the statue, and launched. I flew to Giant’s Deep, accidentally landed in some trees, talked to the hammock pal, couldn’t get back into my ship, walked into a cave, and died.

I’m just curious if something fundamentally changes about the gameplay here, because the first 43 minutes did not offer the promise of a hook for me. It doesn’t feel good to play, and I’m not intrigued by the story yet.

Please be vague in any reply. I just know this game is really special to a lot of people, so I wanted to give it a shot.

Thank you!
