r/Orks Update / Announcement New Rule: AI generated content is not allowed

1.4k Upvotes

First, WAAAGH! Now that formalities are out of the way, it's not often that new rules are added as that means more work on my end enforcing them. For the good of the community, going forward AI generated content is no longer allowed in r/Orks. The community has overwhelmingly made it known that AI "slop" is not content this community is interested in and does not spark engagement or interaction. In short, AI content = No thanks.

The rule reads as follows:

AI generated content is low-effort and not considered as an original work. Posts evaluated by the mod team and determined to be AI will be removed without warning.

If you see this content in r/Orks please report it. This is the best way to get our attention so we can handle it accordingly. This is not retroactive, don't stress if you have posted AI content in the past. If you disagree with this new rule, that's unfortunate. Anyway, please keep AI content off r/Orks and I thank you all for making this the best community about plastic space fungus toys on this platform.

Discussion Weekend Waaagh Planning - October 16, 2026

Hey r/Orks, let's talk about some of the Orky things you have going on this weekend. Stuff that will make your fellow green-skins either jealous to be you or thankful they are not you.

Examples of what we're talking about:

  • List building?
  • Leading your Waaagh to victory at your local friendly game store?
  • Working on your grey pile of shame painting backlog?
  • Building a new kit?
  • Teaching a new player the ropes?
  • Brushing up on tabletop skills?

Who knows, maybe your post will inspire (or shame) some other git to get moving on their project. So, what's good this weekend?

Painting Favorite Green Skin Recipes?

We are diving back into Orks after a very long hiatus. I haven't even painted Orks since discovering contrast paints. So I have a bit of relearning to do. And looking for ideas.

What's everyone favorite green skin recipe? Last night we started experimenting with different recipes on the Grots. The perfect test subjects.

We tried Gutrippa Flesh and Plaguebearer Flesh over Grey Seer. With a little bit of Seraphin Sepia around the "felshier" areas (hands, faces elbows etc...). Thinking I'll do some light highlights then call it done.

Super happy with the lighter tone for Grots. Think I'm going to move onto something darker next.

Painting I know that all the rust and whatnot comes at the end of the paintjob... But I really wanted to see the yellows finished. I think that the yellow now fits with the rest of the colour scheme quite well being darker and grungier.

Painting Been painting orks for the first time and having an absolute blast!

My buddy and I have been going to a local hobby store on a set day throughout the past few weeks to paint and hang out and I've been painting orks for the first time (he's painted and played them in the past) and we're just having a good time.

I'm completely in love with how much freedom there is of the faction. Having come from painting templars, Imperial fists (30k models) and necrons. Not to mention the lore and some of the rules, especially the older ones are hilarious.

I'm very eager to be involved with Orktober.

To mek or not to mek

So I plan on running the meganobz with nazdreg. He already gives IGNORES COVER so is there a point to having the MEK? I know the mek can heal his unit but is that worth it?

Help Which is better in your opinion. Gorkanaut or Morkanaut?

I got the kit and trying to decide which to build. visually I love the gun on the gorkanaut more but its another leathal hits non-monster/vehicle like so many other ork weapons. Seems the Mork is better at dealing with potential vehicles and monsters at range, but the gork is better close range and has that 20 attacks with its guns.

So curious what people tend to run them as and why?

Starting an Ork army

Hey all. Picked up the Armageddon box and sold off the Blood Angels side. Looking to start an Ork army as I mainly play Necrons. I have no idea what theme I want other than I know I Ghazgull.

I like the Mek side of things Im thinking. But what are some good units I should definitely include? I know rule of cool exists but I also want to get some good units. Im thinking pirate/mad max themed but I dont know yet.

Happy Orktober everyone, my first ork model of the month was finally getting around to this fun proxy. I painted this deff dread in two hours and made a short about it on my youtube channel on how it was done. I was heavily inspired by the original artwork and midwinter minis video on this model in particular. if your interested in the other stuff I have done below will be my Instagram and youtube.

Are they mega?? They seem kinda small compared to their new Armageddon brothers but they look like they can pack a punch and take a few too.

My first time using cork on bases and spending my time basing properly rather than PVA and flock.

Did I do them justice??

First time converting monopose models to fit with my armys theme of stroggified orks. Thought I ruined a couple of them but was able to convert up all the armageddon lads and had some leftover bits to kitbash some extra cyboys.
