That YouTube sign at the end is not level. Deeply unsatisfying

243

u/ekidd07 1d ago

And the drawer is ajar. It needs to be pushed in. Wtf

137

u/RedditingInMyCubicle 22h ago

The drawer is not a jar, it's a drawer.

24

u/darkoblivion000 16h ago

The drawer doesn’t draw. Deeply disturbing.

3

u/zherkof 16h ago

It draws outward

2

u/Key-Half1655 8h ago

The door is a jar

1

u/_Endercat_ 4h ago

I go into the jar

6

u/afro-deezy-yac 21h ago

That's what she said.

5

u/MagicSunlight23 21h ago

I don’t think it can be pushed in any further. There are bits on each side preventing it.

7

u/Hi-Whats-Your-Name 21h ago

agree the ending ruined an otherwise satisfying video

1

u/DesertSpringtime 22h ago

I think that was to show that it's a magnet

How many times are you going to see it?

335

u/eastcoastjon 1d ago

All cool until you buy a new brand

107

u/-kylehase 1d ago

At least it's mostly modular, so a new scissors only needs a new scissors module, unless it's much larger.

3

u/JohnnyWix 1d ago

I think the STL files would work on other brands.

38

u/pobodys-nerfect5 1d ago

Yeah just gonna make sure to print a new drawer organizer every time I buy a different brand. It’s not wasteful if it’s my hobby!

4

u/JohnWittieless 1d ago

That’s why I use gridfinity. Sure it’s not sleek but the most I would have to reprint is a 6-8 1x1 sub inch of grid tiles. The other 99% is just repurposed from the old drawer

93

u/DarkExtremis 1d ago

Meanwhile my drawer is just the square hole and where does everything go?

That's right... in the square hole

58

u/Rapunzel10 1d ago

I will never get tired of that video

https://giphy.com/gifs/hLlvQi2Jzdb2D9ntN5

2

u/AppropriateAd7326 8h ago

All time classic

179

u/Neon_Pancakes0425 1d ago

There is a tool for this called gridfinity. It's so cool. There are lots of tools for it so you can make custom trays for tools

56

u/thewags05 1d ago

I have some of my kitchen and workshop drawers done in gridfinity. It's a pain and usually not worth the effort of making cutouts that specific. Plus if you get something new or shaped differently you have to print a whole new bin.

I usually just do boxes sized to fit what I need and label them.

14

u/Neon_Pancakes0425 1d ago

I feel like it would be worth it if you have some tools in a workshop that always need somewhere to go

3

u/strangedot13 17h ago

Then custom trays would literally be the worst

1

u/Neon_Pancakes0425 17h ago

Whys that

4

u/strangedot13 17h ago

Impractical, can only be used for one thing and only at one place. In a workshop you don't want anything impractical. Tools have their place, yes but never in some custom trays.

4

u/thewags05 17h ago

I do that, just with labeled blank bins rather than ones with customer cutouts. The advantage is that I can always repurpose a generic bin for anything else with a similar size.

5

u/kageurufu 1d ago

And how the hell do I ever have enough drawers for the huge amount of stuff I end up with.

7

u/Milord_888 1d ago

I have similar stuff in my drawers. Gridfinity and Skadis are amazing to arrange personal stuff

2

u/AceJohnny 4h ago

It’s named like infinity because of how long you spend printing

118

u/The_Real_Kru 22h ago

Great! You can now invest into a 3d printer, do a bunch of design work, and reduce the available space in your drawer by 40%. Truly future tech!

26

u/toastedpaniala89 18h ago

Its a form of hobby for a lot of people

4

u/lostwriter 11h ago

But then you print more space!

3

u/Gingergerbals 7h ago

This man 3D's

27

u/SaticoySteele 1d ago

*Takes scissors out of blister pack and throws it away*
*3D prints new blister pack and puts scissors back in it*

Ah, satisfying...

24

u/New-Let-3630 22h ago

buy one more micro sd and you have to reorganize the entire thing

2

u/madmelonxtra 14h ago

Yeah it's cool. But it would make more sense to give yourself extra slots for everything

10

u/MassiveAssistance886 11h ago

It's difficult to beat the space efficiency of unbridled chaos.

9

u/honestly-thinking 12h ago

Ah. Life before children

48

u/Punk_Says_Fuck_You 1d ago

He’s super proud of his hand reaching for it while it’s being printed. He didn’t get it quite perfect though since you can see the splice.

28

u/jmking 1d ago

It still made me do a double take. It's a neat effect even if imperfect.

14

u/henriquegamesUwU 1d ago

You see the secret is removing the part where you have to reprint it 3 times because your tolerances are off

41

u/Chili_Clause 22h ago edited 20h ago

While that's satisfying to watch, it's completely useless. The assumption that he's never going to have anything else to go in that drawer is ridiculous. Also people who are that neat and anal about such things scare the shit out of me.

6

u/Teftell 23h ago

Why everything slots perfectly, one could put way more things without those slots.

6

u/Restart_from_Zero 20h ago

And now you can never buy another SD card or piece of stationery.

11

u/No-Party-9047 22h ago

There's no way he uses any of this

23

u/Senselesspassion 1d ago

Me on sofa, having nothing like that critiquing him about the smallest irregularities lmao

6

u/Upper_Top9348 1d ago

I don't know.. I just use two Ziploc sandwich bags and it works for me. Less wasted space.

12

u/DingesF 19h ago

So much plastic. If you just throw your stuff in the drawer like a normal person, 3 to 4 times as much stuff fits in there.

9

u/ajako_94 19h ago

Without all that crap, you could fit like 3x more useful items in that drawer

8

u/masshuudojo 23h ago

Wow, everything fits so perfectly in this custom printed 3D drawers for exactly that everything! Also, what if he needs to change scissors? Or pens?

0

u/ToastedSimian 18h ago

Or his porn collection outgrows the number of SD slots he made.

4

u/Vyviel 23h ago

Other than his shitty draw that doesnt even go in properly

3

u/dered118 19h ago

It's specifically made to be a fit, that's less satisfying than finding something that just happen to fit

3

u/aspophilia 17h ago

A week later everything you use regularly will be all over your desk. At least it would be on mine. The ability to maintain this level of organization seems like magic to me.

8

u/I_Like_Water11 20h ago

We really just have a bunch of channels making plastic waste for content now. 3d printing is just a waste generator at this point. People keep saying oh it can be recycled but I am sure majority of the people with 3d printers aren't recycling

5

u/userlivewire 22h ago

I appreciate the craft but people like this make me nervous.

11

u/Tocan139 1d ago

I got an adhd boner from this. The part where he makes a perfect spot for the tape measure... good lord!

2

u/usernamedottxt 23h ago

I’d put that whole thing thing together. Spend two days randomly opening it just to look at how sexy it is. Then never open it again. Years later when I can’t find the third pair of scissors I’ve bought I would remember this, open the drawer, use the scissors, then toss them in the drawer lazily on top of everything else.

1

u/Tocan139 23h ago

This guy gets it!

1

u/barshat 1d ago

Adhd or ocd?

1

u/Tocan139 1d ago

Hell if I know. Little bit of A and a little bit of B I guess. All I know is I really liked it.

0

u/RogueAOV 1d ago

Yeah but the way he just let the tape retract is going to loosen the end piece which will ruin how accurate it is, that was enough for me to throw my hands into the air and wordlessly scream into the void so that even my ancestors will share in my disappointment.

1

u/Tocan139 1d ago

I work in construction, I dont know how to not be rough on tape measures. Its a character flaw.

1

u/RogueAOV 1d ago

I used to work at Home Depot, you put my kids thru college.

3

u/TheOtherOne79 1d ago

No way, custom 3D printed objects fitting perfectly? Never would have seen that coming

3

u/Automatic_Pair_4914 1d ago

Satisfying to look at but goodluck buying another brand or size of something. Most probably, it won’t fit.

-1

u/blacksmithwolf 1d ago

Good news, he owns a 3d printer and it's literal cents of PLA to make a new one.

0

u/afro-deezy-yac 23h ago

I am honestly more impressed by the 3d modeling skills. What software is everyone using to model this stuff? Are we using free tools, paid tools, or stuff that has a monthly subscription fee?

0

u/XcRaZeD 20h ago

Gridfinity is the most popular one from what i know of. Free and open source

7

u/ManyChikin 1d ago

What’s he gonna do when his scissors break and they don’t sell that model anymore?

13

u/punsnguns 1d ago

Download a new pair of identical scissors

10

u/aFerens 1d ago

You wouldn't download scissors

3

u/ThresholdSeven 21h ago

Downloading scissors is a crime

1

u/davewave3283 10h ago

I’ll just drive to the store in my downloaded car and buy new scissors

10

u/ufffd 1d ago

probably reprint the scissors part?

12

u/TorbenKoehn 22h ago

It’s modular so he would just print a new holder for the new scissor, no?

1

u/flipflopcuntflaps 12h ago

NO

2

u/hexadeciball 6h ago

Depending on the print settings, it might use way less plastic than it looks like.

Something printed at 15% infill (so about 85% air inside) is still gonna be very strong.

I'm not saying that throwing plastic away is good, but using 3d printed stuff might be the lesser evil compared to buying stuff from a store.

1

u/r_a_d_ 1d ago

I think you know what he would do.

1

u/ThresholdSeven 21h ago

He might know someone that could design and print a new custom holder.

1

u/FlarblesGarbles 16h ago

Repeat the process for the new scissors?

https://giphy.com/gifs/lkdH8FmImcGoylv3t3

1

u/TehAMP 9h ago

Yeah, true. Not like he can just fabricate a new one out of thin air. /s

5

u/CoffeeWith2MuchCream 1d ago

Thats like $8000 in SD cards now.

1

u/JohnWittieless 1d ago

When 3D printers are as cheap as a 512gb micro SD card

4

u/CastorVT 23h ago

>the way everything has a slot

no shit if you're literally printing those slots as you go along.

this isn't satisfying. If anything it's annoying cause he's just making a modular desk panel.

2

u/fielvras 19h ago

The actual cool thing is him grabbing the parts while they are printed.

2

u/spieles21 19h ago

Wasn't there a game about this?

2

u/ExplicitDrift 18h ago

What’s the old saying?… oh yeah. Measure Twice. Cut Once.

2

u/ShvetsIvan 17h ago

That's probably more than 1000 USD in memory card alone with prices nowadays)))

2

u/ohmygodsquad 16h ago

Good luck cleaning all that.

2

u/DesperateAd5590 12h ago

Timing the time lapse perfectly with your hand is crazy

2

u/logangreer 10h ago

How did he do the print timelapse?

4

u/Vick_CXVII 1d ago

That’s what it was made for? Lol

2

u/mysanslurkingaccount 1d ago

Would be cool to have something like this, but I was actually unsatisfied with how much movement the memory cards and usb drives had.

1

u/Few_Candidate_8036 1d ago

I mean, you can modify it however you want. Thats the point of it being 3d printed. Just make the slots smaller.

4

u/GotSomeUpdogOnUrFace 1d ago

And then ruined with that shit YouTube logo

3

u/kikomir 21h ago

How to utilize a metric crap tonne of plastic in order to reduce your available space by 70%. This is r/mildlyinfuriating

7

u/PoundKitchen 1d ago

So inefficient... and more plastic in the world. Be a slob!

-3

u/SlinkAU 1d ago

He printed those out of a roll of plastic...the same sum of plastic!

1

u/Shadow9378 1d ago

If y'all like this and havent heard of it already, check out Zack Freedman's Gridfinity system, its an open source organization framework designed to be 3D printed

-1

u/Cabitaa 1d ago

Don't forget Infinite Storage. I like them because they show the research and testing process in their shorts.

3

u/KoosGoose 1d ago

What a waste of material.

-1

u/raymate 1d ago

Not for me I did this a few years ago and it’s all still organized and custom to my needs.

2

u/pessimistoptimist 1d ago

And then your scissors go missong or yhe tap measure breaks and the new one doesnt fit.

2

u/AccordingIy 1d ago

Roughly $500 in memory cards due to memory shortages

2

u/No-Journalist-619 1d ago

It's neat until you consider all your usb's are different sizes and won't fit anywhere

2

u/ColbyAndrew 17h ago

Meanwhile, trashcan full of landfill next to the desk.

1

u/raymate 1d ago

Did this a few years ago. Mine is still organized. Just wish it took a few minutes like this video. Took me a few weeks to complete it.

1

u/whispersloth 1d ago

This is literally why I am not allowed to have a 3d printer or a label maker.

1

u/MoreOfAnOvalJerk 23h ago

Cool, but my adhd brain would be like "that thing you just covered no longer exists. Hope it wasnt important."

1

u/mondi0 23h ago

... for the next year .

1

u/MattJoeMan 20h ago

Christ I thought *I* was particular

1

u/macona-coffee 19h ago

OCD anyone

These comments. Yeeeeesh!!!!! 😬

1

u/Warizard22 14h ago edited 14h ago

OH! hes a youtuber. Now it makes sense.

1

u/PossibilityUsual6262 14h ago

I have a bag for old memory cards, some of them might even work.

1

u/heftybagman 13h ago

Oh nice stuff to put all my stuff in. I love my stuff maker it’s my favorite stuff of all and I reeeeally love my stuff so that’s saying a lot.

1

u/Bangreed4 12h ago

one of the reasons why I want a 3D printer

1

u/Amen_Ra_61622 10h ago

Less space is taken up if everything is just dumped in the drawer 🤣

1

u/HighIQIndividual2 9h ago

I can see the clearance of the individual cards in the slots. r/oddlyirritating

1

u/Whitelight_og 8h ago

Where get buying sd cards with these prices

1

u/ExperiencedOptimist 2h ago

See I was satisfied, until I thought about how much filament was wasted printing the YouTube sign that way.

1

u/BloodAndTsundere 2h ago

Yeah, but have you tried just stuffing random shit in a drawer for 30 years?

1

u/OneBrokenClock 1d ago

I’m very worried about microplastics

1

u/Psychological_Cup450 1d ago

What printer is that?

4

u/Syssareth 1d ago

I think it's a Bambu A1 Mini. At least, it looks identical to mine.

1

u/FyouinyourA 20h ago

The edit and cut with his hand hovering and picking the stuff up right as it finishes is so clean and satisfying

0

u/dcondor07uk 19h ago

Useless, he cannot buy another SD card, cannot get a different type of scissors, if a pen doesnt fit he is screwed, also it will look scratched and dirty in a month,

3

u/gnote2minix 19h ago

or you can print new one.. been doing this of years, its dirt cheap to print

3

u/PremiumUsername69420 17h ago

Landfillcore energy

1

u/overdosingOnPie1313 11h ago

Hooray! Plastic waste! Exactly what this world needs more of.

2

u/dcondor07uk 18h ago

Time is not cheap, these things take hours to print, i would rather print something useful

2

u/yrthegood1staken 18h ago

The time is only an issue if you have a backlog of things to print. Most people aren't running their printer 24/7.

2

u/IM_OSCAR_dot_com 15h ago

Also are people not… doing other things while their stuff prints?

3

u/RealAmerik 14h ago

No. You're supposed to sit there and intently stare at the print the entire time. If you can't fully lock in and observe the process, why are you even printing?

1

u/gnote2minix 18h ago

if you do side business, yes. time is essentials. but for me who has 3d print as hobbies, i only print whatever i thing usefull and fun..

-5

u/dcondor07uk 17h ago

Useful is the keyword, i hate waiting on stuff to print that i start to feel thats going to be useless,

0

u/gnote2minix 13h ago

then 3d print is not for you my man.. just go to mall an buy whatever you want..

0

u/dcondor07uk 11h ago

Useless info

0

u/windsynths 16h ago

What sort of things have you made with your 3D printer?

0

u/dcondor07uk 16h ago

Hobby stuff that i use daily, of work related parts that actually solves a real life problem,

1

u/windsynths 15h ago

So nothing dissimilar to the prints in the video? 😂 get over yourself

0

u/dcondor07uk 15h ago

Why would I get over my opinion, i find what he made in the video useless.

0

u/windsynths 15h ago

He’s not printing it for you though is he 😂

-1

u/dcondor07uk 15h ago

Doesnt matter, we can find things useful or useless, we are both entitled to our opinions/tastes, what we are not entitled to is telling other people what they can like/ find useful or not, get over yourself

1

u/windsynths 15h ago

😂😂😂

0

u/Klutzy_Machine 1d ago

what should I print with my new shiny HP printer? I asked myself this question when I was 14 then I printed hentai out colored.

0

u/Busy-Doughnut6180 1d ago

My dream (but I'm poor and hate plastic so it stays a dream).

0

u/__Cavalier__ 23h ago

Shit, I think I have to buy a 3d printer now

0

u/calicoconduit1 23h ago

That’s good ad for 3D printers

0

u/TechnoHead909 15h ago

What a complete waste of a day and hundreds of $$ on a printer when you could have just put the things in a drawer!

2

u/JohnStern42 13h ago

The printer can be used for more than this, printers last many years, so calling it a ‘waste’ doesn’t make sense unless that’s the only thing you’ll ever print with it.

Once you have a 3d printer you find you print stuff that is certainly not world changing, but little things that genuinely make things slightly better. A headphone hook for my desk, a special case for a raspberry pi. One of my windows had a plastic bracket as part of the close mechanism that snapped, I designed a replacement and printed it. It’s one of those tools that can sit for months unused and then all of a sudden is the most useful tool in the world

-1

u/Just_here2020 1d ago

This is the most envy I’ve had in a while!

It really appeals to my anal retentive engineering brain.

-2

u/dessertlover007 1d ago

I learn to not like this dudes anymore... their fancy techy videos.. have something off :S

0

u/sxdrick 19h ago

Serial killer type shit

0

u/sparrrrrt 17h ago

Gross plastic

-1

u/ajai01niner 23h ago

We all know what he's measuring with that tape measure and rulers during his breaks right?

-1

u/Libitica 1d ago

I love his stuff on YouTube. It’s sadly mostly membership only now, but the videos he has posted are great. Scott Yu-Jan if anyone is curious

2

u/SP3NGL3R 1d ago

YouTube does memberships now? Like for one creator, not premium?

3

u/Libitica 1d ago edited 1d ago

Yeah… the memberships are only for that channel. I refuse to pay for it. Think of it as a Twitch subscription for a single streamer. YouTube premium is only no ads across the platform.

1

u/SP3NGL3R 1d ago

OnlyLANs?

2

u/jmking 1d ago

Yeah, it's been a thing for years now.

EDIT: Channel memberships launched in 2018

-1

u/buddhamunche 1d ago

Omg I’ve watched this like 20 times it’s so well done

-1

u/CalexCQueen_923 23h ago

This was so satisfying to watch. If only I had this for everything in The house ….

-1

u/zytukin 12h ago

Almost like it was intentionally designed to by measuring the stuff beforehand and making slots the perfect size.

-2

u/PositiveStretch6170 1d ago

Now I'm all hot and bothered!

-6

u/balloon_knot_muncher 1d ago

That makes me wet
