Help Best OBS Settings for a Clean World of Warcraft YouTube Stream with an RX 9060 16GB?

• Upvotes

Hey everyone

I'm trying to achieve the cleanest possible image quality when streaming World of Warcraft on YouTube, especially during camera movement, without blur, smearing, or a feeling of slight stuttering.

My setup:

GPU: AMD Radeon RX 9060 16GB

OS: Windows 11

Monitor: 180Hz

Streaming software: OBS Studio

Platform: YouTube

Game: World of Warcraft

Microphone/Camera: No mic, no webcam

My main issue is that the stream can look blurry when I move the camera, even when the image looks relatively sharp while standing still. I've tried different OBS settings, including Game Capture and different scaling options, but I haven't found the perfect balance between sharp image quality and smooth motion.

I'd like to know what settings you would recommend for my specific setup, including:

Best encoder for my AMD GPU: H.264 or AV1?

Recommended bitrate and resolution for YouTube streaming.

Best output resolution: 1080p60 or 1440p60.

Whether I should use CQP/quality-based encoding or CBR, and which rate control is best for YouTube.

Best OBS downscaling filter and color settings.

Recommended GPU settings, WoW graphics settings, and FPS limit for a 180Hz monitor.

Whether YouTube's transcoding is likely to contribute to the blur during movement.

My upload speed is around 10 Mbps, so I also need settings that provide good quality without causing dropped frames or unstable streaming.

I'm not looking for generic OBS settings. I'd really appreciate advice from people who stream WoW on AMD GPUs and have managed to get a genuinely sharp, smooth image on YouTube.

Thanks!

Question 601 seems more accurate than 709 and sRGB

• Upvotes

Recently been trying to figure out a good recording settings for Loseless type footage for an amateur project I'm messing with and as I was trying to get footage, I noticed the footage being off. I double checked my OBS's advance settings: NV12-Rec709-limited, which seems to be fine. Though I should mention, I used the settings suggested in EposVox's 7 year old video on what to do for streaming. I decided to take a screenshot and compare the resulting footage. From what I can tell, Rec. 601 seems to have the best results in being similar to the original colors, outside of blocking from dark colors.

I should mention my gpu is a 9070 and the only pixel formats it offers are 8 and 10 bit, at RGB 4:4:4 Full or limited and YCbCr 4:2:2. I've swapped between these and the results seems to be the same. I've swapped between h264 and h265. HW AV1 doesn't seem to be happy with my current OBS settings, so skipped that for tests. Not sure what's going on, I feel like Rec 709 should produce the best results, but doesn't seem to be the case. I'm a novice with OBS, so maybe the solution is obivous?

Help How to send sound from Xbox to OBS

Sorry in advance for my ignorance, I’m on day 2 of trying to figure out OBS so I can hopefully stream onto Twitch. I am able to view my Xbox screen from the Twitch window, and position it correctly to where it shows up clean on OBS. But now I am trying to figure out how to capture microphone + game audio from the wireless headset (Steel Series Arctic 5 or whatever can’t remember the exact model), to input it into OBS on my Windows laptop. YouTube has many different ways, involving capture cards and purchasing microphones that plug into the computer. I’m wondering if there are alternatives? Thanks

Help Anyone else having this weird bug with OBS with Display Capture while tryign to record Apex Legends?

Basically i use OBS insta replay instead of AMD insta replay because amd one is very bad it desyncs audio and dosent clip sometimes, and looks bad... OBS works perfectly and it has more settings, i literally just have Display Capture and audio channel 1 and 2 for mic and speaker setup and never touch obs again, but apex doing weird things sometimes it captures the window sometimes it completly ignores it as if its hidden wtf? first time i see this kind of issue...

Not only that but AMD overlay dosent even show fps, it shows FPS: N\A but it does show rendering mode DirectX 12...

I would think maybe its dumb strict anti cheat? but i dont think it would be this easy to bypass unless its a bug... it literally stops working right after you get in a game, but then i can close the game and press play again so it would get me into the same game again and it works again??

Game capture works, display capture like i said randomly borken... all audio works, its really weird issue... i tried everything disable fullscreen optimziaitons, disable enable mpo, and other stuff, its crazy that even Windowed mode dont work... its as if OBS comepltly hides apex window somehow even tho that should not be possible cause its display capture and should be capturing what i see...

Anyone else having this bs?? i feel like most people would just do recording or streaming and game capture instead of display capture so they dont find this issue? i found 0 reports or videos or anything on the web... ai is just giving generic fixes i already tried...

(forgot to mention more specifickly when its not capturing its capturing desktop thats why i said its as if apex becomes hidden window on recording, and not laways breaks it feels random)

>>>I just found reproducable method for this issue, i made apex windowed and apparently when i open MPC-BE video on my screen visually nothing visually changes but on obs preview apex window just disapears after few sec, maybe thats why it happened each time and why i thought its random, cause i always rewatch what i clip right away, but why?<<<

Help OBS preview stutters, but livestream is smooth

Hi everyone,

My OBS preview stutters and freezes while streaming my Xbox Series S, but the livestream looks smooth.

Setup:

- Xbox Series S

- PiBOX USB HDMI capture card

- Honor MagicBook X15

- Intel Core i3-10110U

- 8GB RAM

- Intel UHD graphics

- Jio 30 Mbps Wi-Fi

- OBS Studio

I tried 720p30, which improved smoothness but looked blurry. Disabling capture-card buffering also helped.

Could the laptop’s CPU or integrated graphics cause this? Could the capture card or USB connection be the problem?

Which OBS settings should I test for sharp 1080p30 video? Would a better USB 3.0 capture card help, or is the laptop the limitation?

Thanks!

Help AMD Radeon RX 9060 XT

Hello!

I’ve streamed with Radeon/Ryzen since 2020, and never had issues with the quality on OBS. I decided to upgrade and once I got this 9060, my compression/bitrate tanked. It’s grainy when I move, (6000 bitrate-CBR) to Kick. If I record in CQP it’s better, but still not as good as my six year old gaming laptop. Anybody else ever have this issue?

-Thanks.

Question What to put in URL section at RTMP plug in for TWITCH multistream

My main stream at the OBS stream settings is set at YouTube and I used RTMP plug in to multistream at TWITCH. At the RTMP docks I had already added my TWITCH stream key but I don't know what to put in the URL section.

Do I just copy paste my Twitch account like twitch.tv<name>

Or maybe there are better ways to multistream instead of RTMP

Thank you in advance!!

Guide Can someone give me some advice, please?

I create content for Minecraft. I don't know much about settings, though I have some basic understanding. I'm having an issue with FPS—for example, if I get 180 FPS in Minecraft and use a 144Hz monitor, OBS Studio drastically reduces the video smoothness.

If you have any other tips not related to OBS Studio's smoothness, I’d be more than happy to hear them too!

Thanks for your time!

Question Best lightweight setup for local sports scoreboards without heavy OBS plugins or cloud subscriptions?

Hey everyone,

Setting up a broadcast PC for community/amateur sports (weekend local games like baseball, cricket, and soccer).

We want clean, dynamic score overlays and lower thirds, but I really want to avoid heavy internal OBS plugins that break on major updates or risk crashing the stream. Also, cloud graphics engines (like Singular) are out of budget for a small local league, plus we don't always have reliable field internet to depend on cloud assets.

For those streaming local club matches, are you running dedicated external controller apps over localhost/browser source, or is there a standard lightweight workflow everyone uses to avoid manual Photoshop image swapping?

Would love to hear what your current matchday production setup looks like.

Question Is there a way to have the same input source (my microphone) in two different VoiceMeeter Potato "lanes"?

I am a retro inspired streamer and because of that I want my mic to match! I've made a 'jank mic' setting lane (i do not know what they are actually called, apologizes), and a lane of my standard audio settings for a cleaner mic. Issue is I want to output my jank mic only to my stream, and my clean mic to my discord so they can most definitely hear me (tbf my jank mic sounds like a drive through, but it could still be a little difficult for my friends with auditory processing issues. I also dont want to sound like I'm in a drive through speaker 24/7 on discord)

Apologizes if this has been asked before, but the only post I found about it used another external software (VB Wires) which I would rather not have to install a third software if needed. Though, if it's the only way, I'll relent to such. I just stream on a gaming laptop is all, so limiting the amount of shit open is very important.

(PS: does anyone know if AltStream saves VODs? I'm gonna be doing a test stream there tomorrow with Deadlock and don't want to lose my streak of almost every video of mine being on my VODs channel. I couldn't find any info and they somehow don't appear to have a subreddit? I am blind so I might've just missed it. I'll likely have the stream additionally recording if I don't get a reply, which Deadlock runs well on my system. It should be finnneeeee.)

Anyone have had this issue before and figured out how to fix it? TiA!

Help Video quality

Hey guys I need help. I use source record to record my videos so that I can get my face and gameplay. When I end the recording and play the video with the gameplay it looks great. However whenever I export it on davinci resolve and post it on YouTube to see how it comes out, the recording takes a dip in quality. I have a good PC so I know that’s not the issue. I have been running test after test for the past few days and still nothing works. I really want to avoid using the canvas trick on obs since it will make huge files. Has anyone struggled with this, and if you have can you please help me.

Help Xbox to pc streaming setup

I'm looking to get into streaming and I've been doing a lot of research on how to stream gameplay from my Xbox while capturing all my audio to a PC that is doing all the streaming.

But I'm just wondering if anyone has gone through this setup and could share some advice or details on the different equipment that you have found to be most useful.

I want to basically play on my Xbox/ PlayStation/rogallyx and send everything through a capture card to my PC and then to my monitor and I want to be able to capture all my audio for my gameplay and in game chat I want to be able to have discord up on my PC for chatting with my teammates but some biggest questions I have would be do I need two mic in order to talk on my Xbox and then another mic in order to talk to my twitch chat and or discord?

And then if there's any other suggestions on the whole setup that would be very helpful I just don't want to buy a bunch of equipment if I don't necessarily need to I've been looking into getting elgato equipment so I'm okay if I need to spend a bit of money to get into it.

If there is another thread that explains everything I'm trying to do then please let me know. Thanks!

Help OBS not capturing desktop audio after latest update

Pretty much what it says in the title. After updating my OBS to the latest version, suddenly it refuses to capture my desktop audio. The audio source isn't muted, and I've tried switching between default, headphones and monitor in the "global audio devices" setting (while making sure my desired audio is outputting through each respective device) and still nothing. Any ideas on what's going on or how to fix this?

Question Are there any plugins that can auto clip CS2 highlights with customization?

I know its a very specific question, but I've been using medal for the past year but its customization for the webcam isn't very good, you cant move it, resize it, or clear the green screen. so i was wondering if there was a plugin that's basically medal but built into OBS that can be customized to clips specific highlights (ex. 3k's 4k's Aces), and ive been trying replay buffer, but for me half the time im too invested in the moment to remember to use it.

Any help is appreciated thanks!

Help Having an issue with game capture and desktop audio fused into one spot

Hello decided to try and get my game audio to play through my headphones, but I also wanted to hear things on discord as well as listen to youtube in the background. I have the chat link cable and everything hooked up but when I go to talk on discord or listen to youtube videos on stream it overlaps in the capture card for some reason. I've tried separating the audio in the mixer but that just gives me more desktop sound as well.

Answered My audio tracks don't want to work correctly anymore.

So i had an issue where my desktop audio wouldn't be captured and only would capture on the 6th track despite it being unchecked in output settings.

Which i managed to fix for a slight moment until i realized i didn't fix jackshit.

Now, for whatever reason, it only captures audio from only one audio source at a time, if my microphone is unmuted it will capture only from that even though desktop audio is also unmuted.

It will only capture desktop audio if my microphone is muted.

Solved: I fixed it by completely deleting obs file setting
