just stupid Reddit is the one few places on the internet where saying that calling women whores is bad and how somehow it’s controversial

I have no words for how what I am about to show y’all, I am just beyond disappointed.

Especially the idiotic people who think calling a man an incel for displaying asshole behaviour is somehow the same as calling a women a wore for sports wear clothing that they think is revealing

Quality Post Have people on Reddit always been this mean or has it gotten worse over the last few years?

I recently made a post on another sub about how I reactivated my facebook account after 15 years and i've really been enjoying it because my feed is much more positive than it is on reddit and people just overall, seem much nicer.

Theres almost nothing about politics or how we are all doomed or how hard life is in my FB feed and its all millennial nostalgia, stuff about my hobbies, and silly sketch comedy videos.

My post was up for 35 minutes before it was taken down, it received 90 comments. Over half of the comments were "something something, bot farm is back up and running", id say 10-15% telling me that im right-wing (untrue) and to leave (my favorite was, "if you like it so much over there, why dont you fuck off and never come back?"), and the other 20% telling me that I was stupid and that my experience was invalid and telling me what my experience *actually* is.

I received exactly 2 positive comments.

Man, I just dont remember Reddit being this hostile, I feel like its always had its fair-share of assholes but its so much worse now.

Am I crazy? Or has it fundamentally changed and become much more hostile over the last few years?

just stupid Why people on bigger subreddits so devoided of whimsy

I've been to a bunch of subs, and people are pretty decent.

But every time i check on a larger sub, i'm met with the "average redditor". Focussing on technicalities and taking something silly way too seriously.

"It's too unrealistic" "It breaks the art-style" "epileptic people" "It looks silly" AND IT'S A FUCKING MINECRAFT MOD! I kid you not

Reddit is frustrating

I go through this loop. First, I’ll Google something on my phone, then I’ll find a good Reddit thread but I’ll keep getting a message to download the app. Then I download the app and get shown all kinds of posts, mostly rage bait or cringey content. I’ll scroll for way too much time, rolling my eyes at a lot of it and then, because of the stupidity, I find myself making shitty comments in response. On threads where I give a more nuanced response, I get nothing but those shitty comments get more engagement. I’ll then delete the app…that is until I find a good thread on Google and the whole cycle starts over.

Why post stuff you KNOW is gonna be removed

Like it's so annoying. The posts that go "I know this will be taken down by the mods BUT...". But what? Why even post it then? You are no less annoying than the kid in class who disobeys his teacher and makes a scene, or a customer who comes in the store to yell at the manager. If you don't like the rules of a place online especially then you have the ability to willfully not be in it. In society people are expected to follow rules. You're not exempt from the expectations of society.

A friendly reminder that most Redditors are terminally online people in their early 20s who haven't had much real world experience. They are the quiet, antisocial weirdo you see on a college campus

So don't let it get to you when a smug reddit mod or an echo chamber subreddit dopiles on you for having a point of view that don't align with theirs, and for not vomiting out their exact talking points verbatim to fit their biases.

Banned from r/Parenting because people claim that general questioning is the same as shaming.

This is petty but I personally believe that I should not have been permanently banned and muted from r/mildlyinfuriating for responding to someone being an unnecessarily smug asshole like this

By the time I got banned the guy deleted his comment so I couldn’t include it in the screenshot. Dude was being unnecessarily rude in response to someone saying “my order that I placed weeks ago got canceled and now the item is listed at 2x the price” (it was an order for RAM sticks) I swear I’m not normally this aggro but this particular phenomenon gets under my skin hard as fuck.

People on reddit have no lives

I joined Reddit four years ago for god knows what, probably random questions about drugs or online shops. I’ve now come back because the snark accounts are FUNNYYY and I want to share experiences/ warnings with other people in certain situations. I’ve learned from this that people on Reddit have no lives. I can confidently say I’m one of those people though so like no judgement, but holy shit it’s sad that we as a society have come to choosing to argue with people on an app instead of speaking to other people in real life. This app has only ever helped me with certain specific questions, but it is so obvious some people are on it weekly or even daily just arguing with whoever they disagree with. Join a debate team yall! It’d benefit you a lot more.

Guys i wasnt literally telling to end their life. Anyone who understands rhetorical arguments would immediately understand I was not literally telling them this. Oh well, not like I used that subreddit much anymore either, it's practically all AI at this point LOL.

Reddit in a nutshell

Conservative redditors and spaces constantly claim they don't exist. I guess they're just working by Cartesianism philosophy and are denying the antecedent of "I think, therefor I am".

factual Why is everyone on Reddit either super rude or overly understanding??

I haven’t had Reddit very long and this place just seems like an absolute cesspool of people on top of soap boxes. Everyone on here talks like they’re the smartest person that’s ever lived. Are there actually normal people on here???

copy pasting an old post I found complaining about Reddit, it’s a little dramatic but sooo accurate

The way people here talk is so obnoxious. It's like they all think they're in a James Gunn film. Every word drips with this passive-aggressive, pseudo-intellectual snark that you'd think would only come from some kid named Melvin who wears oversized glasses and a full business suit to school.

The phrases they use are so annoying. "Yikes." "Nothingburger." "Who hurt you?" So is their non-stop therapy speak. Everyone is a "narcissist" or a "gaslighter" or some other buzzword they've read about in a psychology textbook.

The fact that they're losers isn't even as bad as the fact that they don't think they are. They genuinely see themselves as misunderstood geniuses who know everything there is to know and could solve all the world's problems. At least 4chan and similar sites have a degree of self-awareness. While they act like they're more accepting than the "EVIL CHUDS!!!1"redditors are extremely judgmental and will act like they have a better understanding of people's personal lives than they do themselves.

They're also absolute snobs. They expect everyone to know every dumb pop culture reference they make. If someone asks a genuine question about literally anything, they get downvoted to oblivion.

In addition to this, they LOVE to turn everything into a debate. It's like if you trained an AI using only Ben Shapiro videos. Every discussion devolves into a "AHA! I got you now! Tsk tsk, ACKSHUALLY, you are wrong because-"

Finally, they are so much of a hive mind that I'm convinced they are bots. There's 0 diversity, just the same opinions being parroted 24/7. There was even a study that showed that if a post gets upvoted right way, it will gain more upvotes, and vice-versa. Literal Borg.

this guy completely put my feelings into words about this app 😫 https://www.reddit.com/r/TrueUnpopularOpinion/s/XuTYitdURw

factual Mod has banned me from Multiple Subreddits because he can, even though it was my first time interacting in those subs.

What can I say? It started with a political sub in which he and I disagreed on something, he banned me, and then replied to my comments. 🤣

Now today he has banned me from two other subs because he could. And r/reddithelp says now I should go through the ModList of every sub before posting there. Like, does even that make sense?

I just don't know what to do. Reddit admins should have something for situations like these.

Why are Reddit moderators making it so difficult for patients to share negative experiences with plastic surgeons?

Thumbnail gallery
36 Upvotes

I’ve had two really frustrating experiences with Reddit moderators recently, and I’m wondering if anyone else has dealt with something similar.

I had a traumatic experience during plastic surgery earlier this year and have been trying to share what happened and get advice, including recommendations for medical malpractice attorneys.

First, I posted in [r/plasticsurgery](r/plasticsurgery). The moderator removed my post and initially gave me different explanations for why. First, he said it was because I hadn’t provided enough evidence, and then he described my post as a “mental health rant” and told me not to discuss mental health. When I asked which rule I had actually violated, he eventually said it was because of the lack of evidence.

I explained that I had documentation supporting my experience and offered to send it to him privately, but he insisted that I had to post it publicly. So I did, because he told me it was a requirement.

Afterward, I realized that some of the screenshots contained sensitive personal and medical information about me, even though my name wasn’t included. I became concerned about having that information publicly available, especially because I’m considering legal action.

I removed the information and asked whether I could repost my experience without the documentation. Instead, he told me I’d already had my chance and that I was now banned from posting in the community.

What really bothered me was that he kept saying things like “no more exceptions will be made,” as if I was asking for some kind of special treatment. I wasn’t asking for an exception. I was asking why I had to publicly share sensitive medical records and private emails just to talk about my own experience. I only posted that information because he told me it was required, and once I realized it could affect my privacy and potential legal case, I wanted to remove it. I don’t understand why that was treated like I’d done something wrong.

The entire interaction felt really dismissive and rude. He repeatedly characterized my experience as a mental health issue rather than addressing what I was actually trying to discuss. I’ll attach screenshots of the conversation so people can see how it was handled.

Then I tried posting about my experience in another subreddit. That post was also removed. When I asked why, the moderators accused me of doxxing the surgeon because I had mentioned his name.

I was confused because I thought doxxing meant exposing someone’s private identifying information, not discussing your own medical experience with a doctor whose professional name is already publicly available. I had checked the community’s rules and hadn’t seen anything specifically prohibiting naming doctors.

Also, I don’t think the screenshots show this, but the plastic surgery moderator banned me after my last response to him. And now I’ve been muted for 28 days by the moderators of r/self just for asking why my post was removed. It’s honestly ridiculous that I can’t even ask questions about their decisions without being shut down.

For some context, I paid approximately $21,000 to go to a highly regarded plastic surgeon because I thought I could trust that I’d be in good hands. Instead, I was kept awake during surgery after repeatedly telling them I wanted to be fully asleep. The experience was extremely traumatic and has seriously affected my mental health.

The surgeon has been dismissive of my concerns from the beginning, and the way his office has handled everything afterward has made things even worse. We requested a refund, and after a lot of back and forth, the only amount they were willing to offer was $1,000. I never received that money, and we eventually told them we were no longer interested in accepting it.

Now that I’m trying to share my experience publicly, his office is pressuring me to take down my reviews and videos. They actually emailed me acknowledging that they’d seen my posts and told me I had until 4 p.m. that day to remove them or they wouldn’t continue discussing a refund. The way they’ve handled this has been disgusting.

So I know the surgeon’s office is aware of what I’m sharing, and given everything that’s happened, I can’t help wondering whether they’re also mass reporting my posts to get them removed. I’ve noticed unusual negative engagement and downvoting as well, although I don’t know who’s responsible.

People deserve to know about experiences like mine, especially when they’re choosing a surgeon and trusting that person with their body. I should be allowed to talk about what happened to me without being pressured into silence.

And what I really don’t understand is why the Reddit moderators are making this so difficult too. I’ve had nothing but problems trying to share my experience. One moderator demanded that I publicly post sensitive personal evidence and then banned me when I wanted to repost without it. The other accused me of doxxing simply for naming the surgeon.

Are these actually legitimate reasons to remove my posts under Reddit’s rules? Because from what I’ve seen, these decisions seem completely unfair. I don’t understand why it feels like the moderators are more concerned about protecting the surgeon than allowing patients to speak about their experiences.

Has anyone else experienced something similar with Reddit moderators, particularly when discussing negative experiences with doctors or surgeons?

Quality Post reddit sucks as a platform

The people are bad, the app is so divided that it just fuels hate and polarization. It also fuels nsfw and spreads addiction to young people. It also has a bunch of incels and femcels that teach other people to follow their path as well. I’ve never seen somebody with adequate social skills use this app outside of the sporadic search for an issue.
