Hey everyone! I’ve been working on PKTool, a homebrew save editor for the Nintendo DS/DSi. You drop the .nds on your flashcart, and it finds your Pokémon saves on the SD card and lets you edit them right on the console, offline.

What it does:

• Edit any Pokémon: species, level, nature, shiny, ability (including Gen V hidden abilities), moves, IVs/EVs, OT, met data, ribbons and more
• Legality checker with a LEGAL / CHECK / ILLEGAL badge, plus a one-button LEGALIZE that fixes what it can without changing what you picked
• Create new Pokémon, import Showdown sets, or redeem built-in Wonder Cards and Gen III events
• A shared Bank on the SD card, with Pal Park and Poké Transfer to move Pokémon up between generations
• Trainer card and bag editor
• Automatic backup before every write, so your original save is safe

Supported games: Red/Blue/Yellow through Black 2/White 2. Gen I/II support is still experimental: I’ve only tested it with synthetic saves so far, so reports from real carts are very welcome.

It’s open source (C++17, GPLv3) and builds on the work of PKHeX, PKSM and PKForge.

Got this star wars ds game cart from my local library but for some reason things like the chairs and doors dont glow blue and I cant use the force on them. I tried rebooting, cleaning the pins, other save files, nothing. Though it might just be me not knowing how to play the game.

anyone ever get this far? i'm pretty sure you're meant to stop at around 20 in-game years but i'm nearly at 100 and an in-game milionaire. the game also uses 99 as a stack so idk if i will mess up my save if i keep going.

I know it's quite hard to see but there is an area of this screen that is brighter than the rest. This screen is from a donor DS Lite that I'm using to fix the broken top screen on mine. Is there any way to fix this?

Also, comparing the old (left) and new (right) screens together they look different, in the photo it's not the clearest but it's more noticeable in person. the new screen seems dimmer, is this something to do with the screen or will it match the brightness of the old one if I fit it to my DS?

In my DSi, before I sold it, was not easy but I had my share of moments when I got it right the first time. I bought a 2DS, played the game, and I notice the "puffs of smoke" advice is harder on this system than in the DSi, the latter being smoother than the former.

Any tips or advice?

I want something that will last for a while to get enjoyment out of DS and 3ds Pokemon games I recently purchased. See, I had a DSIxl and played Pokemon platinum, heart gold and white when I was a kid. I recently repurchased those games and I want a solid device that I can use for years to come. I’ve looked online and I’m just worried about fake devices or getting something that won’t work. Any ideas? Just a guy trying to get back into games played in his childhood- can ya help a guy out?

A while ago I was digging through my old stuff and realised my old flash cart wasn’t working on my personal dsi xl anymore (i thought it was actually dead as it was old as heck) I posted about what cart to get then many of you recommended to either mod or get a DSpico. I got the pico and another DS because I never experienced having a smaller one. I was just excited to replay my favourite DS games and other games I never got to play back then. I randomly put the old cart and was shocked that it works on this DS!! Won’t be using it though I’ll just keep it for the nostalgia. But I think I got that flash-cart with my dsi xl in 2010. Funny that I didn’t bother to update the year back then. I want to hug my younger self.

Basically what my comment says, I want to get into rebuilding and modding DS's, but I want to know if people would be interested in buying them if I were to make ones similar to this "Frutiger Aero" build.

I’ve been working on Readmanna, a fork of ds-mangaman that turns the DSi into a portable reader for manga, comics, and books. The idea is to make it feel a little like carrying a tiny Kindle in your pocket.

The original ds-mangaman was a great starting point, but its workflow had some limits: processing PDFs could take a long time, and the finished book was bundled into a single ROM. With a book around 300 pages, starting up could take as long as 10 minutes.

Regardless ds-mangaman is a great! homebrew and im glad that the creator made it public.

Readmanna changes that workflow. Convert a PDF or a folder of page images on your computer, then copy the prepared book to your SD card. The reader app and your books are separate, so you keep one Readmanna ROM and can add or change books without rebuilding the app. The finished books are ready to open from the DSi’s book selector.

It also has seven zoom levels, so you can fit a whole page across both screens or zoom in to read smaller text. Rotate pages to read upright or sideways, then pan with the stylus or D-pad. There’s a page selector for jumping ahead, and Readmanna remembers your position, zoom, and rotation for each book.

Also you can go to any page you want by pressing B) showing a menu for going anywhere you want

Rendering is faster because page images are prepared on the computer before they reach the DSi. That lets the reader use prepared images at common zoom levels instead of doing all the resizing itself. There’s also a compact 256-color export option. Depending on the source and export settings, I’ve seen books shrink from around 300 MB to 80 MB compared with ds-mangaman.

PDF conversion happens on your computer; the finished books are what you read on the DSi. The project is open source, and I’d love to hear what people think or what features you’d like to see next:

Beating the Final Fantasy characters in Tourney Mode again is going to be a blast!.

I bought this from the value village the other day and it seemed to not work. I then noticed that some of the pins looked a little burnt so I tried to clean it anyway. Still nothing, I feel that it’s cooked but does anyone have suggestions?

i cut up some panels from the kingdom hearts 2 manga and made my own dsi skin using decalgirl. i really like how it came out! the last picture is the inside skin, but im not sure if i should apply it or keep it sleek and black on the inside like how it is. what do you think? should i use the inside skin too?

I have a DSI XL/"LL" (Japanese model), that I want to fully redesign into a special edition Shaymin one. What that would need in my eyes: custom pink buttons, top bezel/bottom bezel in pink, the lime green shell like the one for the smaller DSI. But the thing is I can't find any cases like that out there, there's a good chance they aren't made anywhere but maybe and so I ask on here.

Hi everyone,

I recently bought a used Nintendo DSi, but whenever I try to open any app, I get an error message telling me to turn the system off. This happens with every app I've tried.

I contacted the seller about the issue, and they replied:

"It works perfectly what are you talking about?"

"I used to play with it and it worked perfectly"

"I even modded it and it worked perfectly"

There was no SD card included when I bought it.

I've tried holding the power button for 10–15 seconds to hard reset it and holding ABXY while turning it on to enter maintenance mode, but neither worked.

Has anyone experienced this issue before? Could it be related to the system being modded, or is it more likely to be a hardware problem? Any advice on how to diagnose or fix it would be appreciated.

Hi! So I recently came into possession of my sibling's old DS Lite, and I've noticed some issues with the shell and hinges.
There is no resistance or clicking when I open it up, so I assume the hinges are bad and need to be replaced, but I'm not sure if the shell also needs to be replaced as well?
I did find a seller that does individual oem parts, so I can get away with a partial replacement, but I don't want to buy and replace parts if I don't need to.

I also kind of want to replace the lens on the bottom screen (it's pretty scratched up), but I worry I won't be able to find a replacement that matches the right border color :/

But any advice/replacement recommendations would be appreciated.

Was browsing amazon.es again and found this new 2008 hard case from Logitech (1€ + 14€ shipping 😅). Overhaul it's a hard sturdy case for transportation, featuring an rubber inside and the option to use those 2 plastic stencils to cut out pictures and customize the top and bottom of the case (real 2008 vibes there). And yes, it's possible to play while the case it's on.
