DISCUSSION ๐ฌ Nancy Drew escape room?
Iโm getting married at the most Nancy drew venue ever. The reception is very lightly based on the night circus, so itโs black and white and has little tents guests can go into. One of the tents we are hoping to have a game/riddle/puzzle element to either enter the tent, or, ideally, a mini escape room once people are in the tent. We love the Nancy drew games and would love for it to feel like a Nancy drew puzzle. Does anyone have any wild ideas for how to pull something like this off?

#20 RANSOM OF THE SEVEN SHIPS ๐ Invitation to RANt - SPOILERS Requested Spoiler
Okay I have come out of a 10 year ND-less stupor and found my collection of games in my parent's basement on a visit - truly bless their hearts bc if roles were reversed I would have donated them long ago! Warmed my heart and was gagged to find my old sticky notes of puzzle solutions and hints in each DVD case, atrocious handwriting and all. Needless to say I am replaying them in my spare time, and with adult eyes, can I just say these games hit different? I am cackling half of the time at the silly situations and dialogue, and don't think they really struck me as funny as a kid who loved Nancy Drew books and a good whodunnit. ANYWHO back to my original reason for coming to this community - I recently opened my Ransom of the Seven Ships case to find one of my disks split from center to edge ๐ฌ it is alas unplayable, but I was interested to replay it bc though I remember nothing generally about it besides it not being my fave, I read somewhere RAN had a black-face character - is this true?? With all of these games, I remember the general themes and plots, but most of them I don't remember the culprits or minutia, which has been fun to rediscover, but GOOD LORD that was jarring to read because I don't remember this game besides it had a parrot, there was lots of digging and sand and translating, and Bess goes missing but we obvi find her...can someone tell me more about what happens in this seemingly problematic children's computer game?

DISCUSSION ๐ฌ Just want to share an idea and discuss
Hey pals and gals. I watching a Vote 4 Holt video, and I got inspired by their Team Ned devotion. I started writing a short story for fun, and it quickly developed into a game idea. Would any of you ever want to see a Ned centered game? Iโm curious how any of you would handle a Ned storyline.
My idea: Ned and Nancy are on a date at a museum, and catch up with Joanna (who has moved on from Beech Hill). While the 3 are going through the exhibits, Nancy recollects her time at Beech Hill, and says โbut what are the odds of a crime like that happening a second time?โ
Well, it happens a second time. A group of thugs lock down the museum so they can steal some artifacts. Nancy snaps into detective mode and enlists Ned and Joanna to help.
The three tag team like in Alibi using their phones to switch between characters to complete tasks, create distractions, and stop the robbery.
At the end, Nancy has a heart to heart with Ned about how much she appreciated his help. She talks about how she hasnโt been the best girlfriend and realized through their teamwork how much heโs there for her. She says she wants to do better by him, and work on making him a priority.
Nedโฆhas the opposite realization. He talks about that he loves helping Nancy, but this was the first time he felt more like a utility than a teammate. Doing tasks, following orders, just made him realize his place in Nancyโs life: a tool. He says he would like some space, and maybe once Nancy figures out how to balance her work and their relationship, they can try again. Maybe being the key word.
The game ends with a heartfelt goodbye, and Nancy stating: I guess my next case is the mystery of finding balance.

#12 SECRET OF THE OLD CLOCK โฐ I forgot how pushy Nancy is in Secret of the Old Clock
She's just deadass like "Hey man, is your bank broke?" and "So how did this old guy die?" like that's normal information for a banker to share with a random ass girl he's never met ๐คฃ.
I don't remember this game at all basically (I think I only played it once or twice) but WOW Nancy really does fit the 1930s books version of Nancy and her nosey ass well!

RANKING ๐ Numerical Data from Ultimate Nancy Drew Tier Ranking Polls
galleryhello! I wanted to share this in case anyone else might find it interesting. while u/southernfirefly13 has been running their polls ranking the ND games into tiers, I've been inputting the data into a spreadsheet that calculates the average score of each game based on the votes received. each vote for A = 4 points, B = 3, C = 2, D = 1, F = 0. the screenshot of the spreadsheet shows the games in descending order by average score. then I put the games into a tier list and ordered them by score within their tiers. for the S tier on this list, I moved the five highest-scoring games from A tier up into S tier (WAC only lost out to DDI by .01!).
anyway here's some stuff I thought was interesting from the results:
- Secret of the Scarlet Hand ranked into A tier, but ended up with a lower average score than three of the B tier games
- this also happened with The Silent Spy (ranked into B tier, scored lower than two C tier games) and OG Secrets Can Kill (ranked into C tier, scored lower than every D tier game lol)
- OG SCK and Creature of Kapu Cave ended up with the only tied scores (1.61), but CRE technically scored a little bit higher with a 1.608 over SCK's 1.605
- people were the most passionate about showing up to vote for Warnings at Waverly Academy and The Shattered Medallion (they had the highest and second highest total number of votes), with WAC ending up in A and SHAT ending up in F and yes I know what its real abbreviation is
- three games got 0 votes for F: Message in a Haunted Mansion, Ghost Dogs of Moon Lake, and Last Train to Blue Moon Canyon
- only OG SCK got 0 votes for A tier but tbf it did not have its own actual poll, while Midnight in Salem and Mystery of the Seven Keys each only got 1 vote for A
- the most mid game, depending on how you look at it, is:
- the Captive Curse, which ended up with the median score of the series
- or Trail of the Twister, which had the highest total number of votes for C
- or Danger by Design, which had the highest percentage of votes for C
so yeah! this is how the games stacked up by numbers. I created the spreadsheet and interpreted the data myself and I got a D in statistics in college so sorry for any bogus-looking data :~)
thank you so much u/southernfirefly13 for running these polls, they have been really fun and intriguing to follow and I've really enjoyed watching and participating in the voting the last couple months!!! <3

DISCUSSION ๐ฌ Frank Hardy and Nancy Lore
Iโm doing a play through of the games, but just doing it in random order based on vibes so I donโt really have a good cohesive timeline. I just played Midnight in Salem, and picked up on a crush dynamic between frank and Nancy - Ned even commenting that Frank was there and seemed jealous. Is this an underlying storyline in the games? A love triangle between Ned, Frank and Nancy? Iโve never noticed it before. so it feels out of left field and curious of opinions.

DISCUSSION ๐ฌ About HeRโฆ
While I actually love their posts they have been posting but the fictional detective in me is like what are they up to? There was a show that I watched that had the main character spotting something off with his people that he trusted and so he couldnโt help himself being too nosy ๐
Anyone have this feeling? I totally get privacy and respecting the decisions they may be making and being patient and doing other things but Iโm just missing the old days! (I am slowly learning a game engine so who knows what I might make ๐)

#11 CURSE OF BLACKMOOR MANOR ๐บ Curse of Blackmoor Manner is entirely too hard
Seriously guys, I finished it last night and now I remember why I didn't like this game as a kid. I'm 35 and working on a masters degree and I'm not smart enough for that game, how the hell were kids meant to be smart enough for it???
I cheated my ass off to finish it! It took me like 12 hours of gameplay according to Steam before I gave up and started cheating to finish it.
I feel dumb AF after all that, y'all ๐

#14 DANGER BY DESIGN ๐ซ๐ท Weird Background Noises in Danger by Design (SPOILERS) Spoiler
So Iโm replaying Danger by Design right now and in this most recent stretch of the game, I heard some odd background noises.
I just went into the tunnel you can unlock in the park. And when walking through this tunnel, itโs like you can hear faint moaning in the distance the whole time.
Then it was dark by the time I left the park, so I automatically went back to JJโs to sleep.
This is the REALLY WEIRD moment. Nancy walks out into the kitchen in the morning and I swear I heard what sounded like a person being attacked. Like they were screaming outside repeatedly until the screaming turned into a cry and finally what kind of sounded like laughter at the end.
I know this is a sound bite from when Minette throws her first tantrum and you hear her through the door. But THIS didnโt sound like Minette. It also wasnโt the same exact order as she goes in during that part of the game.
Has anyone else heard these or am I going crazy? ๐

TECH HELP โจ๏ธ Playing old games
Hello! I recently purchased a large quantity of the games off facebook marketplace and am so excited to play them all! My husband and I like to work on them together. We noticed that we had a hard time downloading the older ones like #1 and #2 etc. We moved up to Blackmoor manor and that one works, but is there a way to still run the older games? We just use an external hard drive hooked up to our normal laptops. TIA!

RANKING ๐ The Ultimate Nancy Drew Games - FINAL TIER RANKINGS Spoiler
Hey Clue Crew!
No "gotcha!" moment this time!
Over a period of three and a half months, you guys have been voting to decide how YOU, as a collective, would rank all the Nancy Drew games, including a bonus round to rank the top 5 S-Tier games! Voting ending last night before midnight, and now the results are final!
From left to right are the Top 5 S-Tier games, out of 167 ranked choice responses....
1st: The Secret of Shadow Ranch - This game was the clear winner by the end of the very first day of S tier voting. This game received the most votes for first place, being neck and neck at one point with Last Train to Blue Moon Canyon.
2nd: Last Train to Blue Moon Canyon - There was a point this game was neck and neck with Shadow Ranch, but alas, it only received half the first place votes and received more votes for second place.
3rd: Danger on Deception Island - Third place came very close to going to another game: Treasure in the Royal Tower. Deception Island beat it out by six votes.
4th: Warnings at Waverly Academy - 4th place's only competition was Danger on Deception Island, but as that game received more votes for third place. Curse of Blackmoor Manor came close to taking this spot, too, but trailed by a few votes.
5th: Legend of the Crystal Skull - Up until yesterday, Sea of Darkness was leading for 5th.
Thoughts?
