I've been trying to hire one good person in Nagpur, and honestly, it's turning out to be far more difficult than I expected.
Everywhere I look, I see graduates complaining about unemployment, limited opportunities, low salaries, and companies demanding experience from freshers.
And I understand many of those frustrations.
But here's the other side of the story from someone actually trying to hire.
Where are the people who genuinely want to learn, develop skills, take ownership and build a career?
I'm not looking for someone with 5 years of experience. I'm not demanding an IIT/IIM degree. I'm not expecting a fresher to know everything on day one.
But is it unreasonable to expect someone to:
- Communicate professionally and responsibly?
- Know the basics of Excel or Google Sheets, or be willing to learn?
- Follow up on assigned work without constant reminders?
- Take initiative instead of waiting for instructions for every little thing?
- Be genuinely interested in developing skills rather than just collecting a monthly salary?
I don't expect perfection. Mistakes are fine. Questions are welcome. Training can be provided.
What I find difficult to train is the willingness to take responsibility.
And before someone says, "Pay peanuts, get monkeys"! Fair enough, compensation matters.
We're a growing educational organisation in Nagpur, offering ₹18,000–₹25,000 per month for an entry-level position, depending on skills and experience.
We're not advertising a ₹20K job while secretly expecting an experienced operations head.
What we're looking for is someone who can start with basic responsibilities and gradually grow into a bigger role as the organisation expands.
So here's the actual job opening.
Organisation: Navexa Quest
Position: Growth & Operations Associate
Location: Nagpur (Hybrid, Full-Time)
Salary: ₹18,000–₹25,000/month (fixed)
Experience: 0–2 years; capable freshers welcome
What you'll initially handle:
- Student and parent enquiries, counselling coordination and admissions follow-ups.
- Lead management, demo scheduling and student records.
- Excel/Google Sheets-based tracking and daily reporting.
- Coordination of digital marketing campaigns.
- Administrative tasks and improving day-to-day processes.
We're particularly interested in graduates or MBA candidates with good communication skills, organisational ability, basic digital proficiency and a willingness to learn.
Experience in education, counselling, sales or operations would be useful, but it's not mandatory.
What's the longer-term opportunity?
As Navexa Quest grows and moves towards expanding its offline educational operations in Nagpur, the right person could gradually take on larger responsibilities in operations, marketing coordination, administration and eventually team management.
This is an opportunity to grow with a developing organisation, not a promise of an automatic promotion.
If you're someone who believes you have more to offer than your resume currently demonstrates, I'd genuinely like to hear from you.
Apply: DM me with a short introduction, or send your CV, salary expectations and availability through the contact details on www.navexaquest.com.
And even if you're not applying, I'd love to hear both sides:
Employers: Are you also finding it difficult to hire people with genuine ownership and initiative?
Job seekers: What do you think employers are getting wrong when hiring freshers?
Maybe the problem isn't simply a shortage of jobs or candidates. Maybe there's a growing mismatch between expectations, skills and attitudes on both sides.
