Frenchie is a licker

I've never had to muzzle a dog, but I may need to. One of my two frenchies has an ear infection that needs topical ointment. The other frenchie licks it off and may have cause or exacerbated the infection with prior licking. I realize it's too late for the current issue, but do you have suggestions for muzzle type and how to train her?

Fit Check! Checking fit for Charlie!

Brand is Big Snoof. Asking for opinions on Charlie’s new muzzle. She will be wearing it for outings/walks and occasionally inside the house.

Pic 1 is the first try - I think it’s too short with the tip of her nose just touching the wire. She didn’t seem bothered but I would worry about her nose rubbing too much.

Pice 2 is a notch looser on the head strap. She can still reach treats and the muzzle doesn’t move around much. She seemed unbothered the whole time she did her training (except when a treat fell on the floor and she tried to reach it, then she noticed something was on her face), so I think it’s okay.

The pant room is definitely enough, mostly just asking for the length and where it’s supposed to sit on her nose.

Last 2 pics are my other pup Stella. Including them just cause she’s cute 🥰 but she is definitely not sitting still enough for me to get a good photo yet.

Question! Muzzle for a smaller dog

Post image

because miss maple here has a bite on record she needs to get a muzzle to comply with city ordinance. She currently has a baskerville classic size 3 for nail trims and vet appointments, but it’s not big enough for her to pant so she can only where it for short bursts.
I was wondering if anyone has any recommendations for a smaller dogs, preferably metal? i see a lot of recommendations for big snoof and muzzle movement but from what i can tell they are more geared towards large dogs.

Maple is about 25 pounds, her muzzle length is about 3 inches long and 4.5 inches around. Any recs?

General Yoshi is looking for his forever couch!

We’ve muzzle trained our sweet foster guy (full transparency, the man loves to eat grass) using advice from this group and have also been through the same “shit, Baskerville muzzles don’t fit AT ALL” cycle as most of the folks here. Hoping you can share our sweet muzzled guy with your networks, let’s get this guy a home!!

Location: Chicago, IL - open to out of state adopters but must be willing to travel to Chicago to meet Yoshi

To learn lots about his personality - TikTok/Instagram: @caccbugs

Yoshi has been in foster with Dark Horse Dogs for 8 months! His adoption fee is WAIVED! Yoshi is NOT a blank slate - he has been poured into and has super strong foundational training.

Needs to be an only animal for now - not aggressive, but very confused/under socialized around other dogs. Working to socialize him and he improves every day!

Quite the decent fit for a standard muzzle! She could use a tiny bit more pant room (what's pictured is not her full pant, as we weren't doing extensive exercise), but not bad at all! The muzzle fits her cheeks just fine, although it may look tighter due to her having thick fur :)

General Updated recommendations for Amazon muzzle?

It's been over a year since the last thread, so I'm wondering what muzzles from Amazon you'd recommend! We are ordering a custom one from Big Snoof, but it won't be here before we go out of town and she'll be boarded with our trainer.

Large breed - Black Russian Terrier

Question! Brand Suggestions?

I’ve got a lab puppy and a 40lb Miniature American Shepherd. They’re not aggressive, reactive, or eating things they shouldn’t. I just think it’s a good idea to train them to wear muzzles in case they ever have to.

What brands are comfortable for most dogs but a reasonable price for dogs that may not need to use them?

Help! desperately seeking durable muzzle.

100 pound medium large dog. thick neck, big wide head, long snout. Destroyer of straps, and clasps.

I think the muzzle that has the vertical forehead strap would be helpful to keep him focused on walks. He does not currently wear any muzzle, and he only walks in my back yard tethered to a ground anchor for lessons.

I don't need the muzzle for barking, i need it to keep everyone and everything safe.

every part of the muzzle has to be durable and Houndini proof for my escape artist.

currently i own a cheap mesh muzzle. The last time he wore it was a year ago for a drive up vet visit. He destroyed so many muzzles that i gave up. Then I found this sub.

Any advice is appreciated.

Hi, I'm new to this sub and to muzzles!

I'm looking for a muzzle for my reactive Bull Mastiff.

I've just bought a size 6 Baskerville muzzle but after looking through some posts here, I'm not sure it fits ☹️

He only needs to wear it during his daily walks.

Is there a brand I should look into suited to larger breeds?

Day 5 or something today groot wasn't in his crate nearly at all but that means we took precautions of muzzles again. We still have talk fights but since their original scuffle a week ago we haven't been taking chances.

I’m worried that the corner where it meets his cheek is going to rub. Can I do anything about it? We’re rocking the Taz size from Themuzzlemovement.
I’ve been so excited to get this on him and really want it to be successful. What do we think?
He’s a hyper boy so pics are hard to get 😂 there’s one more in the comments. Ill work on better ones asap

Week one of the Dekus muzzle

While wearing this muzzle he tried destroying some stuff, but gave up. He also tried to get the yummy smelling trash from me, but realized he couldn't. I took him on several walks when no one was around. He saw a few people, but decided to leave them alone. For some reason he loves wearing it so he doesn't try to take it off. It doesn't rub against his skin or fur too much. The hardwear did rust a bit, but sandpaper and mineral oil can fix that. His Big Snoof muzzle should be here either today or by Monday.

Muzzle movement to Big Snoof sizing advice

Thumbnail

Wish I'd come here sooner - my huge head XL has been wearing a muzzle movement for a few months now and had no issues to start with BUT I think it obscures her sight (which I've now read up on here as being common for this type of plastic) and so shes been rubbing her face on things causing painful looking sores on her nose and above her eye.

Currently not wearing one at all to let it all heal up properly, and taking the advice here to get a big snoofs - however she wont let me near her nose to measure atm, its hard enough getting antiseptic cream on the sore 😭 what size big snoofs would you all recommend until I can get measurements for a custom please? (As they require more measurements than the 3x MM measurements I already took)

Her MM is a size Mitzy, but im confused with the Snoof sizing as the pant room is more** on the s66 (pant 8inch) than the 70 (pant 6.5inch)?

ETA shes 52kg so ~110lbs (Im Aussie, its hard enough doing cm to inches coversions for sizes 😅)

Thanks!!

Help with fitting this muzzle properly

New Muzzle Movement muzzle just arrived and the fit is much better than the Baskerville we were using, however, his nose should be poking slightly out the top / the treat hatch isn’t aligned with his mouth.

I’m wondering if this is salvageable with adjustments?

Pic 1 is my dog, pic 2 is from website to show how it should fit

Advice? Help with fitting muzzle

Hello, we have a reactive foster dog to other dogs. We have a plan in place with him seeing a trainer but they request he gets comfortable with a muzzle before training begins. While our dog is comfortable taking treats, walking, and drinking with the muzzle, I don’t like how it is close to his eyes. Any advice on reshaping the muzzle or like how ineffective would it be if I cut near the bottom of the eyes? I tried reshaping it once and I think it is better than before. Thank you so much!

Hello I have a 45lb euro hound (pointer husky greyhound). I want to get her a bite proof (or mostly bite proof) muzzle. I tried a barkerville ultra size 4 and 5, but her nose touched the end of 4 too much and 5 went up on her eyes. There was also too much room on the under jaw area and sides. Do yall have any recommendations for basket muzzles I can get for her in America. Thanks.! I don’t think sight hound muzzles will work because her snout isn’t quite as narrow as theirs?

Update! Day 3 of grootie being here

Post image

Groot is the instigator usually so both him and bigs are muzzled bear has not been trying to play yet today so she doesn't have hers on. Yesterday we did have a talk fest between bigs and groot but no muzzle fighting. I ended up swapping the head strap to be a chin strap actually because they were super uncomfortable and it wouldn't even tighten enough to keep it on. They all settle eventually with their muzzles on and it's a heck of alot better than keeping one dog crated constantly. They are slowly getting more and more comfortable with their muzzles and the behavioral training is going good so far.

Lookin for some extra muzzle options to look into for my gsd and border collie. I know of muzzle movement and bully billows. The rest all look like a generic muzzle to me😂. So just curious on other brands that you guys have experience with. Ive read through some other posts and been adding those to the list to look into. My wife and I are expecting a baby in about 6 months and we want to get ahead of things now as the BC likes to herd and the Gsd has never been around small children so we want to be cautious obviously and get them trained in advance. TIA
