My parents, my sister and I go on a little roadtrip every year for thanksgiving. This year we’re thinking about Muskogee (we live in OKC). I’ve only ever been to the castle for the medieval fair. I know they start the christmas lights that weekend, but I was wondering what other activities or restaurants there are in or near Muskogee that locals enjoy.

I currently just got promoted and didn’t realize the promotion meant I had to move states … any way I am in Muskogee Oklahoma for the near future now and want to find things to do here. I’m 32 athletic and love the outdoors. Big anime and gaming need. Also I do smoke so smoking buddies would always be cool.

Muskogee City Fire Marshal announced a city burn ban today, effective immediately and running for at least 7 days.

🚫 ALL OUTDOOR OPEN-FLAME BURNING IS PROHIBITED AT THIS TIME.

This includes, but is not limited to:

• ❌ Burn pits

• ❌ Outdoor recreational fires

• ❌ Brush or trash burning

• ❌ Outdoor open-flame fires

• ❌ Any other type of open burning

This burn ban will remain in effect for a minimum of 7 days. Conditions will continue to be monitored, and additional information will be provided if the ban needs to be extended.

The county announced a similar ban today as well. Cherokee, Sequoyah, and Haskell counties are likewise, and I expect Wagoner, Okmulgee, and McIntosh to follow suit soon.

I fostered 4 kittens and am now looking for homes for 2 of them! They are all black males, about 13 weeks old. They are really sweet, gentle babies and good with kiddos and other cats. They've been dewormed and had flea meds, but aren't fixed yet. (My vet said 5 to 6 months old) Willing to meet if the drive isn't too far! Please DM if you or someone you know is interested! Don't forget to go to the polls as important State Questions are on the ballots. SQ846 is about requiring new voter IDs (we already have licenses, passports and state IDs); SQ 844 Gives lawmakers the power to change how tax reimbursement money is divided and how much local entities receive IF any. ETA important info about SQ 844 The state gives tax exemptions to some businesses. Those taxes would go to local schools, etc. in those counties. So the state also reimburses those counties for the tax money they have been "deprived" because of the exemptions. SQ844 would let the state stop reimbursing counties but continue to give businesses those tax exemptions.

Was taking a look at the Comprehensive housing study on the city's site, and it appears that we need private investors and builders to be willing to accept more housing. I also believe that instead of focusing on other projects i.e., the data centers that are popping up like daisies, the city could really focus on maintaining the walkways, line of sight at stop signs and crossroads, etc. Would be nice if we had our own version of SB mowing!!
And honestly a humane trap-and-release program for strays (cats and dogs) would be great to keep the populations in control; people are building cat colonies out here like it's their job. Some of us like birds! lol

They are free of course. They were born in May so they're only a few months old, their mom is a beagle and their dad is a mixed chorkie/basset/jack russell? They come to what we call them( Lady Lou, Chance, and Big Boy) but of course you can change their name to whatever you want. I think Big Boy deserves a real name.
