Sain baitsgaana uu r/mongolia!

For some context, I’m (27F) Mongolian who is married to a non-Mongolian (28M). We were looking for some resources so my husband can learn Mongolian, and we realized there weren’t that many apps that are user-friendly or easy to stick with. It got me thinking about all the 2nd gen kids I've met who don't know Mongolian, and whether my kids in the future would be able to speak Mongolian if I’m the only one teaching it. It lowkey got me scared that our language might die in my family line in the next generation or two, which just adds to my pre-existing guilt of feeling not Mongolian enough and blah blah blah blah.

So to combat this, my husband and I have been working on “Mongolingo”, a beginner-friendly gamified language learning app to teach Mongolian. So far I only made the lessons for Unit 1 and 2 because I wanted to get YOUR inputs on whether I’m going too fast, too slow, if the lessons I’m teaching make sense in general or if I should take a completely different approach instead.

I would GREATLY appreciate any and all feedback from native Mongolian speakers, "Monglish" speakers, and people who don't know any Mongolian! I want this to be something that anyone can use if they have any curiosity about our language, and in the future add more and more advanced sections.

Please leave feedback in the comments below! And please no hate comments lol

Download app here: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/mongolingo/id6774407866 or just look up Mongolingo (its the one with the bear mascot)

Edit: THANK YOU SO MUCH for the support and comments! We have written down any and all feedback so far onto our to-dos so expect these in our next update, as well as more lessons. We will also be reaching out to some Mongolian schools and communities in the states to get some feedback on our lessons. We are so so grateful for being added to the posts highlight and being given this user flare, shout out mods! Yostoiii ih bayarlalaa manaihaan.

Pinned A Note of Precaution on Meeting Strangers via Reddit

UPDATE: All underage users posting or commenting to meet new people will be deleted for their safety.

Due to recent posts by teen and adolescent redditors in this sub, we mods want to say this one thing.

It's okay to be bored and want to meet new people for whatever reason, but please exercise some caution and use common sense. Especially if you're under 18.

Always tell a parent and/or friend about any meetings you're going to have with a stranger.

Tell them the location of your meetings and ask them to check in after certain amount of time.

Also, use common sense in giving out your personal information, like name, D.O.B, address, etc.

And you probably don't need us to tell you how scary things can get if someone gets a hold of embarrassing data about you. Right?

We're sure most people in this subreddit are good and cool, but just want you to use common sense.

What else is there to add?

Am I the only one getting pissed how my taxes are being spent?

Feels like the people around me are headless chickens, when every day they are walking on the dusty ass unfinished pavement they removed this summer but was rennovated last summer using our freaking taxes. Everybody knows every step of govt work is corrupt as shit, working on new ways to eat at our daily livelyhood and society but we just keep sitting and doing nothing. When will we start demanding actual results, when are we going to oust these corrupt fuckers leaching off our taxes.

Does nobody else get mad at this? Feels like people are so used to getting corrupt PP's shoved down their throats that they dont even have a voice anymore. I get so pissed at this. Only me?

made a little pixel game about temüjin before he was chinggis khan

you play as young Temüjin, from surviving by the Onon River to becoming Genghis Khan in 1206.

it's a 2D action RPG with sword fights, bows, bosses, and companions like Bo'orchu, Jelme, and Subutai. Tried to keep it historically accurate.

free to play, browser + Mac/Windows/Linux:

got assets generated by openai api, if you find bugs, historical mistakes, or have ideas for v2, lmk. would love some feedback

Guess which Asian country’s government pays little attention despite being especially vulnerable to severe weather, while hosting a performative obscure UN conference?

Discussion | Хэлэлцүүлэг Is anyone willing to adopt a stray kitten?

Hey, guys. We found a little female kitten nearby our apartment. She was shivering and screaming for help. We couldn't just leave her to die so we took her to our flat. She must have been starving too, she ate all the cat food we bought for her.

The thing is that I'm an expat teacher and I don't know how ling I'll be here so unfortunately, we can't adopt her so I'm asking if anyone' wants to take her in. She's a very sweet and gentle girl too so I think it'll be very easy to take care of her.

Thank you very much, everyone!

Please DM me if you want to adopt her.

P.S We live in Yarmag, Ulanbaatar.

Need Advice | Зөвлөгөө авъя Is gap year worth it

Hello I’m 12th grade student and I’m really busy to prepare for EYSH as of right now due to personal and family problems. I was planning to study for both SAT and EYSH and try for Cybersecurity in SHUTIS but with my current schedule it is really hard to do so until mid to late winter and I fear it might be too late by then. So I don’t know if I should take a gap year and do things I won’t be able to do if I get into university while exploring myself and researching more career options for my future. My parents can afford it and I am also planning to make more money if I do take a gap year.

Those millenials and boomers whom are protesting should get a job 🥀

Politics | Улс төр We built a Fantasy Parliament game for Mongolia's 126 MPs. What do you think?

Hey r/mongolia!

I'm one of the co-founders of TenGer TV, and our team has been working on something a little unusual.

We just launched TenGer Parliament, (https://parliament.tngr.tv) a platform where you can explore the activities of Mongolia's 126 MPs and even create your own fantasy parliamentary faction.

The idea came from our experience organizing parliamentary election debates in 2024. We realized that while there's a plenty of political information out there, it's surprisingly difficult to compare what our elected representatives actually do after the elections.

So we built two things.

1. Power Ranking 📊

We use publicly available parliamentary data to compare MPs across four categories: attendance, participation, legislative initiatives, and activity.

It's not meant to tell you who's the best or worst politician. It's simply another way to look at measurable parliamentary activities beyond headlines and social media arguments.

2. Fantasy Parliament 🎮

This is the fun part.

Think Fantasy Premier League or Fantasy NBA, but instead of footballers, you draft MPs.

You get a budget of 60 tokens to select seven MPs for your faction. Your team earns points based on what those MPs actually do in Parliament.

So yes, you might find yourself checking whether your MP attended a session or introduced legislation because your fantasy team needs points. 😅

The first season starts on October 26, but you can build your faction to familiarize with the game mechanics.

Try it here: https://parliament.tngr.tv/

I'm here and happy to answer any questions, hear your suggestions, and take your feedback.

We're still learning and improving. We just want to get this right and make it better, with your help!

Question | Асуулт Mongolian Calligraphy Tattoo

Post image
31 Upvotes

Hi, I come from Poland with roots coming back to the Tatars and eventually to Mongolia. Our family tradition for centuries is to have Tatar/Mongolian second names and mine happens to be Subedej/Сүбээдэй. I wanted to get it tattooed (Сүбэдэй баатар) in traditional mongolian, and asked a calligraphy master to write it for me. I would like to tattoo the finer part (on the left). Just wanted to get a second opinion whether everything is correct before I get it done. Thanks.
