Already others have commented so let me elaborate it further
• Laminar flow is a fluid motion regime where a liquid or gas moves in smooth, parallel layers with little to no mixing or cross-currents
• Laminar flow happens at low velocities, in small channels, or with high-viscosity fluids where viscous forces dominate over inertial forces. For pipes, flow is typically laminar when Re < 2000 to 2100
• Smooth Layers: Fluid particles travel along clean, predictable, non-crossing paths (streamlines)
• Parabolic Profile: In a pipe, fluid at the center moves the fastest, while fluid touching the walls remains stationary
• Glassy Appearance: Water moving in a laminar stream often looks completely still, smooth, or frozen
The viral "frozen water" illusion seen online happens because a laminar water column's spatial form is entirely constant over time. Every molecule of water follows the exact path of the molecule before it with millimeter precision. Because the outer shape of the stream never fluctuates or wavers, the human eye cannot detect the motion, making the flowing water look like a solid piece of curved ice or glass until someone touches it
Interesting facts about it:-
A WWII Fighter Jet Pioneered It in Aviation
During World War II, engineers sought to reduce "aerodynamic drag" to make planes faster and more fuel-efficient. The P-51 Mustang became the first aircraft intentionally designed with a laminar flow airfoil. The wing was sculpted to keep the air flowing in smooth, parallel layers over a vast portion of the wing surface rather than turning turbulent. This gave the P-51 the extreme speed and extended range it needed to escort Allied bombers deep into Germany
If i get more upvotes then I'll reply with more facts
