Abrupt Grounding Rest and Elevate. NSFW

Post image

It completely pisses me off that it's possible to make one wrong movement or put too much stress for too long and be down and out for 3 or more days. It's been 72 hours since the injury flare and I'm improving but still can't put on direct weight.

work on some range of motion, too much rest and you get stiff it does need to be worked a little

Thanks. That's actually some of the best advice I've heard on Reddit about the issue. I'm doing circles with the ankle and calf stretches but I need it to completely heal before I put anything serious behind it.

You can push yourself more than you think you can especially after 72 hours operating within tolerable pain is very important for your recovery

At one point yesterday it was so bad that my body was completely shaking from pain. I didn't feel it that serious, like that, but I could tell it was my body's response to unbearable pain. If that makes sense. Lol

Last time I was shaking hard it turned out to be kidney failure. Take care of yourself ❤️

Like my body was giving out before my brain was. Lol

Shame

Drink more water. I do that all day everyday.

Yeah, tho it's worth noting my kidney failure was caused by a bacterial infection, not dehydration

You'd think enough water would help clear that out.

I broke my ankle last month walking UP the stairs. Didn't quite clear the last step with my left foot, right foot was firmly planted on the step. I fell hard and heard a snap. Just from a slightly wrong step. I feel for ya bud.

I'm guessing you're young. Get used to it. These things happen more often than you might think. Yes it sucks but try to find enjoyment in the down time.

Just turned 40 July. 😆 So it depends on your definition of "young".

Lmao totally thought you were a 20 year old who sprained their ankle for the first time.

I messed up my back a few months ago pretty bad from...sleeping in a recliner for one night. I can relate.

Oh, hell. Sorry to hear that. This is just an extensor tendinitis flare up.

In that case, definitely work on range of motion and active rest

Tell me about it im in week 4 of 8 if not longer after I fell fishing and blew a 4 inch gash in my knee that tore over 50% of my patellar tendon and gave myself a depression fracture to boot if I bend my knee i could blow the rest resulting in a surgical repair. Crazy how something so small effectively cripples us hope it heals fast

You too! Yeah. The original injury was self-induced anyway. I walked 17 miles in a for of Anger a few years ago and literally torn, stretches, bruised, overworked every single bone, muscle and tendon from my knee down. The day after the walk (half barefoot) my calves, ankles and Met were all swollen and my toes were almost purple.

Oof I'm glad you're on the mend. It was super weird not feeling the huge hole in my leg lol the guy who pulled me out of the river was like OH SHIT DUDE YOUR LEG i was pouring blood and algae from the rocks I tore my leg open on. Gotta find that guy and get him a case of beer

Unfortunately, my story is less than that glamorous. I did it loading furniture into a box truck as a Gigworker. Should have kept my mouth shut about the drill a last week.
