It isn't hypocritical at all. The students are there to learn. The teacher is there to teach. Students using AI hinders learning. Teachers using AI may enhance teaching (if only by giving the teacher more time to focus on other things).
When my kid comes home asking why the teacher can use something she can’t, I can try explaining that to her. I know I used to get pissed when the teacher wouldn’t show her work but made me. I saw it as unfair and even after having it explained to me it still pissed me off until I got older. It’s a principle expectation of equality. Seeing the teacher is doing something they are banning you from should be avoided. Sure use AI as a tool wherever but avoid doing it in front of students you’re banning from using. I feel like hypocrisy isn’t the right word.
Using your logic, that’s like saying students cant use calculators on their math test, but it would be hypocritical for a teacher to check their work using a calculator, lmao.
It’s not hypocritical at all. The stance isn’t to not use AI completely, it’s that they cannot use ai for just this specific assignment.
You’re literally wrong, and are part of the bandwagon who can’t articulate why AI is bad. It’s not hypocritical for a teacher to use AI and to forbid students to use AI on assignments or tests. A teacher is not a student; they already know the material, they do not need to learn it themselves or prove they know it.
A student is different. They need to learn the material themselves and show they can do their homework or tests without the use of AI.
Maybe this is a sign people should start using AI to help understand concepts if they are this willfully ignorant in life.
I absolutely COULD give you the pros and cons of machine learning. I don’t need to as this conversation has little to do with it and more to do with the hypocrisy nuances perceived by students. You are technically wrong. The worst kind of wrong.

So...the teacher should have drawn a picture of a racoon on a traffic light?
