Which is why a lot of students retaliate by using AI. It's a full circle of spite.

Hell, AI doesn't even have to invent the Matrix, just put some little Ipads in these pods and people now a days would be willing to just crawl on in.

The difference is, for developing minds, you need to actually use your brain and challenge yourself to be more capable thinker for the future. If you use AI tools to do your thinking, you will be dumb

Kids learn by copying. If the adults don't care, then they won't either. Stay away from AI.

I don’t think kids are learning how to grade assignments from teachers.

So...the teacher should have drawn a picture of a racoon on a traffic light?

u/magistermaks 11h ago

yeah?? why do you think this is an issue? or they could have just not used any image.

Imagine thinking the that’s the only way graphic design is possible.

Imagine caring what tool a teacher uses to get the point across that AI usage is not allowed

It’s hypocritical and teaches that hypocrisy is ok as long as I’m in authority.

It isn't hypocritical at all. The students are there to learn. The teacher is there to teach. Students using AI hinders learning. Teachers using AI may enhance teaching (if only by giving the teacher more time to focus on other things).

When my kid comes home asking why the teacher can use something she can’t, I can try explaining that to her. I know I used to get pissed when the teacher wouldn’t show her work but made me. I saw it as unfair and even after having it explained to me it still pissed me off until I got older. It’s a principle expectation of equality. Seeing the teacher is doing something they are banning you from should be avoided. Sure use AI as a tool wherever but avoid doing it in front of students you’re banning from using. I feel like hypocrisy isn’t the right word.

You've got a real chip on your shoulder about authority if that's your point of contention here. It's a picture of a racoon on a traffic light ffs.

8

u/FecalDUI 10h ago

The real problem of society right here. Ignoring principle. It’s not about the raccoon ffs

Using your logic, that’s like saying students cant use calculators on their math test, but it would be hypocritical for a teacher to check their work using a calculator, lmao.

It’s not hypocritical at all. The stance isn’t to not use AI completely, it’s that they cannot use ai for just this specific assignment.

u/FecalDUI 10h ago

You’re manipulating my logic to fit your argument.

-3

u/Crabbing 10h ago

feel free to give any more of this logic to explain why you’re right

If they couldnt make one, they shouldnt have done any image for gods sake, and if they were that desperate to use an image they shoulve found one online

Kids aren’t paid nor are teachers. But teachers work

10

u/worthlesswormhag 12h ago

that is the ultimate goal. abolish critical thinking.

Using genAI as an adult actively makes you stupider.

The only difference is did you already understand something, or have you allowed yourself to forget?

Neither is good, but it’s stupid adults making themselves stupider that teach kids to use those same tools.

Ha, please, there's no "sticking it to the man" here. They're just lazy and don't want to do the work.

"I'm going to get back at my teacher by not learning anything"

1

u/HistoricalRoad1755 2h ago

You are an idiot if you think this is the reason students use AI

Teachers aren't learning how to grade. They don't lose anything by having ai grade simple things anymore than when they used scantrons to grade things.
