That or this one are my go-tos. I work in coolers and freezers a lot.

16

u/Ourcollectivetime 16h ago

This is the real answer to these problems. People don’t know how amazing this stuff it. Norwegian formula is ordered in 6 packs every so often in my home 😂

30

u/ApprehensiveDiver539 16h ago

I can attest to the effectiveness of this - a previous partner would sit on the edge of the bed every night after I had gone to sleep and would spend about 10 minutes working that hand cream into his hands. He would vigorously do this every night and the movement always woke me up so now this cream is nothing but a bad memory thanks for that jk!

2

u/Charming-djynns4197 14h ago

I misread that as he was massaging your hands with the cream lol

5

u/ApprehensiveDiver539 14h ago

That woulda REALLY woke me up

🤣🤣🤣

Neutrogena’s hand cream is great. Recently I found that Vanicream Daily Facial Moisturizer works even better. It has a lot of glycerin like the Neutrogena, but also squalane, hyaluronic acid, and ceramides. It’s much more resilient to hand washing than other moisturizers, I think because of the squalane. I’ve had fewer hand eczema flares since I started using it.

4

u/alvl5abra 15h ago

This is my go too, a little more expensive but it gets absorbed quick so you dont have so smudgy hands.

8

u/RambosNachbar 16h ago

hate how they advertise with norway all around while having nothing to do with it at all

9

u/Lopsided_Tiger_0296 14h ago

Makes people think it’s common in Norway which is a notoriously cold country. Seems like dry hands becomes a problem during the winter

3

u/OkWinner4004 15h ago

Have used this Neutrogena hand cream for half of my life and I haven’t found anything better than that!!

1

u/FrannieP23 14h ago

I have been using this for 50 years, maybe a pea-size blob every night. My hands used to chap so badly they'd bleed. Sometimes I had a bandaid on every finger.

1

u/elektric_eel 14h ago

I love the fragrance version it smells so good

1

u/omiimonster 1h ago

this is the best.

Yep. Never leaves my sight in winter.

OP, wash up your hands real well, apply hydrocortisone, let it dry for 30 min and put this on over it. Itll lock in the cortisone. GL

478

u/swoopwoopdoop 16h ago

Be careful about using corticosteroid creams long-term. Talk to your doctor about it first.

150

u/RDZed72 16h ago

Thanks. Yeah, I dont pound it. Just when it gets bad and for maybe 3 days and then its straight O'Keeffe. Been doing it like that for 30 years.

76

u/Sathandi 14h ago

This. Drug-induced Cushing's disease is very much a thing.

9

u/sleepyonion 8h ago

This is the first I've heard of this! Thank you for posting

17

u/dirt-thirt 13h ago

This cream made my hands extra dry and itchy. Did I use it wrong or something?

17

u/RDZed72 13h ago

Soak your hands in warm water for 10 min, pat them dry and apply the cream. Makes a huge difference. It seals in the moisture.

17

u/VocePoetica 11h ago

Also, make sure you aren’t having an allergic reaction to it. Might not be that cream for you.

5

u/Yoyochan 10h ago

This stuff is my favorite and I try to apply it at least nightly to keep my hands in good shape, but in the dead of winter after a ton of hand-washing and wind burn my hands can get chapped, it STINGS when I put it on. It eventually settles down after about 10 mins, but I think when there’re cracks in the skin then the urea content can be irritating.

As long as I keep up with it and sometimes use the overnight treatment, then top it with an occlusive like Vaseline or Bag Balm, then that mostly avoids that stinging/burning issue.

3

u/NorgesTaff 6h ago

No, it doesn’t help me either unfortunately.

35

u/oliviasmommy19 17h ago

This stuff is amazing. I keep it on me like ChapStick. They finally have a body lotion now, too!

2

u/axescentedcandles 15h ago

Their lip balm is also really good

0

u/StarChild083 14h ago

Came to say this!!! 🧴

87

u/kiwidust 19h ago

Seconded. Shit works!

51

u/SchatzisMaus 19h ago

Thirded. Moved from tropical climate to Germany and this stuff was a savior

9

u/SergeantShithead33 17h ago

Shit i might look into this as well i hate having cheese-grated hands ever since I moved to Germany lol

4

u/SchatzisMaus 17h ago

Do it! Another thing that helped was getting a filter for my sink faucet for the hard water.

1

u/Petermitnemmeter 14h ago

Und was mach ich gegen die 39°C Sommertage? ;-;

1

u/SchatzisMaus 13h ago

PortaSplit but buy it in winter and have to make sure your house rules don’t consider it “changing the view from outside” 🫠

1

u/Petermitnemmeter 13h ago

Thank you

Won't have to worry about house rules luckily

1

u/Rouge_means_red 11h ago

Personally I wouldn't smear shit on my hands but you do you

67

u/Gobbyer 18h ago

I usually get so bad cracks to my hands in winter, that they literally rip open like volcanic fissures if they stretch. And this shit still works lol.

70

u/_Steven_Seagal_ 17h ago

This stuff works against this? Holy crap, I need that!

36

u/creamersrealm 17h ago

Working Hands will fix that in about 2-3 days flat. It happens to me every winter.

3

u/_Steven_Seagal_ 17h ago

Already ordered it haha

2

u/Gazebu 14h ago

My hands get this bad and worse every winter. It also helps to apply moisturizer, then Vaseline, then put cotton gloves on at night before bed to keep everything on. The Vaseline helps seal in moisture. I can't use working hands but if you can still find it, my favorite moisturizer was the udder cream with the cow print bottle. I don't remember the name off hand.

1

u/Secret_Beekeeper 5h ago

Youre gonna be amazed at how quickly your hands are healed by this cream.

1

u/May_of_Teck 9h ago

WHY doesn’t it work for me?? We have it out on the counter at work. My hands cracked and bled all through the summer 😭

37

u/Celitha11 15h ago

Be warned, don't put it on your bare dry hands. What I had to do is get my hands damp with water and THEN put this on. What it does is trap in the moisture. If you use it on already dry and chapped skin it will make it worse. Speaking from experience lol.

10

u/Gazebu 14h ago

Is it not just me that it burns horribly when my skin is cracked?

6

u/NeedsItRough 11h ago

Yes!! I just commented about this!

I think I'm allergic to an ingredient or something because it did absolutely nothing positive for my hands, only made them bright red and burning on top of the already dry, cracked, and bleeding skin

2

u/Gazebu 11h ago

It causes the same thing for me!

3

u/Self-described 12h ago

It stings so bad!

1

u/Celitha11 9h ago

Try the water trick next time, it helps so much!

7

u/ImaginationPlus3808 16h ago

Wear gloves outside, as much as you can. Don’t need to be big thick ski gloves. But something to protect from the dry air, elements.

8

u/Viitori 16h ago

This was what my hand looked like at work on monday. Bought a new jar of the stuff, applied it twice at work, a couple times yesterday. All healed today.

2

u/PenLegitimate7064 16h ago

My hands looked like that when I was a nurse and washing my hands many, many, many times a day. Working hands is the only thing that helped.

1

u/cybah 16h ago

Definitely this. This is similar to my knucks in the winter. Working hands is the only thing that works well AND overnight. I slather some on an hour or so before bed. Tap it off with some tissue to get the big chunks and go to bed. I'll wake up in the morning with it all smooth.

Also second the comment about trying not to be outside in cold weather without gloves. I notice this gets far worse when I do that than if I wear gloves all the time.

1

u/_Steven_Seagal_ 16h ago

Yeah, I already try to wear gloves, but even then it's awful. Already ordered the ointment, so hope it fixes it.

1

u/NeedsItRough 11h ago

Obviously it varies from person to person, I must have some sort of allergy to one of the ingredients because it only made my hands worse.

Went from dry, cracked, and bleeding to bright red, painful, dry, cracked, and bleeding.

Seems to work for everyone else in the world though 😂

7

u/RDZed72 17h ago

Same I get the bleeding grand canyons on the inner side of my thumb knuckles. Its already starting to happen. Yay Dry Air! 😞

17

u/Used-Salad-3772 18h ago

My hands get so dry they crack and bleed in winter. This saved my skin literally.

17

u/RandoDando10 18h ago

European/UK version is Nuage Active Hands. Same exact thing just with an orange top. One of those lil tubs can last me like 3+ months of daily use with how strong it is, tiniest little dollop is enough to cover both hands lmao

8

u/New_Vegetable_3173 18h ago

Ohmigod and if you live in Yorkshire it's even way cheaper - £2.49!!!

https://www.yorkshiretrading.com/products/nuage-active-hands-tough-hand-cream-150g

2

u/RandoDando10 11h ago

Yup same one, I get it for £3 in most stores hygiene sections. Doesn't have any kind of strong smell or anything either, just a normal moisturiser

7

u/DoobiGirl_19 16h ago

I've tried this product a couple of times, and it gave me an awful, itchy, stinging red rash like 20 minutes after using it. I have extremely sensitive skin and it was a no-go for me. Just a heads up for people very sensitive to skin products.

26

u/Nazgog-Morgob 14h ago

The only people say this doesn't work are people that used it once and their problem wasn't solved within 3 seconds

15

u/TacetAbbadon 14h ago

If this legitimately doesn't work you should be going to a doctor because your hands are proper fucked

3

u/frogwombat110 12h ago

as someone with properly fucked hands, it does not work well. I'm aggressively
pro washing hands, leaving slightly moist, and applying a (very) thin layer of aquaphor. then I use lanolin at night.

1

u/_-DirtyMike-_ 14h ago

Yep, this is me unfortunately. Gloves help the best.

1

u/Ok-Manufacturer27 13h ago

Doesn't help me and yes the doctors agree my hands are fucked. I can basically pick 1 of 3 terrible symptoms but can't have normal hands

1

u/JakeQV RED 13h ago

Have you tried Glysomed? This stuff never worked for me but Glysomed pretty much fixed my hands overnight, it was weird.

16

u/mperseids 18h ago

Excellent but Warning ⚠️: will burn your hands if they're really bad

11

u/CasualGlam87 16h ago

Yeah tried it once and the burning was so bad I had to wash it off. Use this one now as it's the only cream I've found that isn't painful to use and actually helps my skin

19

u/RDZed72 17h ago

Its a "Good Burn" though.

10

u/Fortehlulz33 GREEN 17h ago

The burn means it's working.

2

u/RandmbbyBadder 16h ago

Hmmm.. That’s what my gf said 🤔

2

u/RDZed72 16h ago

Sometimes I go full psychopath and do a Epsom Salt soak before O'keeffs. Now thats a 🔥. 🤣

1

u/mperseids 16h ago

it's a reminder that I'm an idiot for always letting it get that bad

2

u/Gazebu 13h ago

It makes me shake the burn is so bad with how my hands get. Not worth it imo 😭

11

u/EPZO 13h ago

1

u/MutaitoSensei 6h ago

Your hand looks way too soft to need that (lucky! 😭)

5

u/sunday_cumquat 18h ago

This shit is magic. I coat my hands before bed. Within a few days your skin is back to normal.

9

u/Ok-Ocelot-3454 18h ago

this shit is actually made of magic or something its so good

4

u/Smoked_Carp 17h ago

This is the only stuff that has ever worked consistently. I give these as Christmas stocking stuffers. 🙏🥳🫡

3

u/randompossum 18h ago

My Wife lives on this stuff. I should buy stock in it.

4

u/pseudomike 18h ago

Works like a charm

4

u/New_Vegetable_3173 18h ago

This is what I wrote to OP elsewhere to use.

It is the cheapest of the good quality really strong /thick hand creams (as long as you shop around and buy it at around £6 not £9)

5

u/maazpervez 18h ago

Is that just moisturizer? Or something different?

5

u/Fortehlulz33 GREEN 17h ago

It's got glycerin in it, which helps form a protective barrier over your skin and moisturizers. Highly recommend for anyone who gets bad skin damage and/or works with their hands.

1

u/somuchstrange 17h ago

It's something you put on over moisturizer of any kind like lotion, Vaseline, etc, and it's like a barrier for your skin

5

u/The_Mr_Yeah 17h ago

This or corn huskers. I watched corn huskers fix the worst hands and feet ive ever seen

2

u/Travel8095 16h ago

Pro tip...they also make one for feet l!

O'Keefes Healthy Feet (in blue container)

1

u/TopicalBuilder 15h ago

I swear by the blue one, but I have to ask myself: is it the same stuff in those containers?

2

u/GetMeMAXPATRICK 14h ago

Came here to recommend this

2

u/WorkerPrestigious960 16h ago

That shit made me break out like crazy

2

u/mypetmonsterlalalala 14h ago

We have a junk drawer one, a truck one, and a washroom

1

u/Comfortable-Ad7287 18h ago

Yep

2

u/Lostinwendysmaze 18h ago

Work outside for a living and when skin cracks, this is the best thing to repair them.

1

u/SeokjminMatcha 17h ago

Wearing this bad boy overnight (when you’re not washing your hands) is a game changer!

1

u/gijo57 16h ago

I’ve hyped this up for years to friends and family and my wife started suspecting they’re paying me 😂 It hands down (no pun intended) the best hand cream I’ve ever had

1

u/LJChao3473 16h ago

Does it work if my hands/feet gets really cold, kinda inflamed and then dry + crack?

1

u/Eyewiggle 16h ago

Although this is great (lush hand creams might even be better).
I believe op had something going on and is maybe having a reaction to something like a chemical use, eg: contact dermatitis.

1

u/Fit_Stable3081 15h ago

I work in an industrial kitchen and I bought this and idk I just don't see it working much, I apply it every night and my hands are still dry and the skin above my fingernails still keeps tearing

1

u/allgreeneveryday 15h ago

This shit leaves my hands sticky. I dont like it personally

1

u/GrapplerKrys 14h ago

Didn't help me at all

1

u/Paleodraco 14h ago

Seconding the O'Keefes, but also what soap do you use? I find my hands get like this when I was my hands too frequently or wash the dishes. Dish soap seems to make it worse, so maybe using a milder soap.

0

u/TacetAbbadon 14h ago

My guy don't wash your hands with dish soap, that stuff is formulated to rip through oils and grease. It's astringent as fuck. Use actual hand soap, preferably one that is moisturising with aloe or some such.

1

u/Paleodraco 14h ago

I didn't say I did, just that washing the dishes, maybe a few times in a day, could be the cause because of the dish soap.

1

u/Goetic_King_Paimon 14h ago

this is such a magical and necessary substance when the cold temps arrive.. absolute game changer

1

u/Elpemex91 14h ago

This is what I use in winter . My knuckles get chapped horribly

1

u/that_cottagecoregirl 14h ago

This is the answer! I've worked most of my life in food service and/or childcare. It's the only moisturizer that's worked for frequent hand washing for me.

1

u/MrLoronzo 14h ago

Yep! This or Duke’s Bloody Knuckles

1

u/TheCaptainOfMistakes 12h ago

Does that shit work on any other part of the body? Does it help with eczema?

1

u/nordicthundercock 11h ago

This shit. Moisturising. NON GREASY. I can’t stand greasy hands, can’t even touch paper. This stuff is with me all year. I hate dry hands.

1

u/ArtisanGerard 9h ago

This applied at night and then sleep with cotton gloves on. Sure you’ll feel like Mickey Mouse for a hot minute but you’ll never have cracking or “winter hands” as long as you do it every like 3 days.

1

u/Fratzenfresse 9h ago

A lot of comments mentioned this. I will definitely try it out!

1

u/zerohan87 8h ago

I will forever be upset the lip balm isn't called "Working Lips"

1

u/mommylilmnstrhasasd 8h ago

That stuff sucks, never works for me always burns the heck out of my hands

1

u/BobaFifiuwu 7h ago

Yup, my dad uses this especially when the weather starts to get colder. Works like a charm!

1

u/LoudCandleLight 5h ago

1000% and its fragrance free too!

1

u/Fabulous_Broad_115 4h ago

You know it's the good shit when the local macho man car mechanic recommends it, which is how I learned of it.

1

u/Denimdenimdenim 1h ago

They sell a version of this at Dollar Tree!

0

u/yourlocaltouya 17h ago

It's unfortunate but it didn't do anything for me. My skin in general has a very hard time accepting any kind of moisture :')

0

u/GordonRamsMe55 17h ago

Same. I have working hands and I don't see the big deal around it

0

u/InstantSarcasm321 16h ago

Seems I'm the only one that finds this stuff to be of no use at all. And believe me I've tried, religiously: several consecutive work-from-home days of applying the stuff every hour or so, but very little to no results.
