The universe is trying to tell you something

u/YTAftershock 22h ago

Not today brother (╯︵╰,)

14

u/YTAftershock 22h ago

To clarify:

  1. I'm in a deload week, so I'm not looking to lift too heavy rn

  2. Apparently I can't be mildly infuriated in r/mildlyinfuriating

6

u/Erick_Brimstone 22h ago

about no 2, yeah this is the problem with this sub.

If it's an actual mildly infuriating thing you'll get downvoted. But you can put "I'm almost died" and get many upvotes.

u/Royal_Stay_6502 22h ago

A deload weekend? Whats that?

2

u/YTAftershock 22h ago

A week where you take it easy after 4-6 weeks of heavy lifting, but don't wanna leave the gym for a week.

Some take it as active recovery, some take it as form correction, some take it as motivation to start heavy again

2

u/boredinbabylon 22h ago

Literally the purpose of this sub. What part do you not understand?

-7

u/Darth_MRM 22h ago

Because there is nothing infuriating here

3

u/YTAftershock 22h ago

I mean, annoyance is a subjective state. You don't think it's mildly infuriating, that's cool man

1

u/boredinbabylon 22h ago

How many times have you been to the gym in the last week?

0

u/Darth_MRM 21h ago

Last week? 4 times 1 cardio 1 leg day and 2 for arms

0

u/boredinbabylon 13h ago

Lol two arm days in a week, no chest, no back, no shoulders?

Hmm

1

u/Darth_MRM 13h ago

No, that's all

6

u/vonseggernc 22h ago

honestly i don't mind doing, becuase it gives me a chance to correct the plate organization.

6

u/MatthewNGBA 22h ago

But… the point of this post is basically about the improper way it’s been organized… so you want it unorganized so u can then organize it🤨. Wouldn’t it be nice if it was just organized properly already

3

u/destuctir 22h ago

Yea I hate when people can’t just put plates back where they belong, it’s lazy and inconsiderate.

6

u/the_onion_k_nigget 22h ago

Bro I Fucking hate when this happens. I’m known for between sets just rearranging all the fucking weight plates on the machines around me including mine and putting my fucking plates away at the end of my workout like a good little fucken boy Fuck

13

u/MikeR_Incredible 22h ago

Okay… So take the others off and grab the 2.5kg plate.

Honestly, OP is MildlyInfuriating

6

u/ptmtobi 22h ago

God forbid people post something mildly infuriating in the mildly infuriating sub

5

u/matthat15 22h ago

Ain’t no way bro lmao, this shit is just bad gym etiquette. Even as a powerlifter this shits me, and some people might not be strong enough to lift 20 or 10kg plates, so doing this screws them over too, poor form

4

u/AwDuck 22h ago

We have quite a few elderly and disabled people at the gym I go to and I get asked to move heavy plates over or twice per month because they simply can’t maneuver them around safely.

Having plates stacked like this is also annoying for me because it makes smaller plates hard to find.

4

u/Rich_Barracuda_796 22h ago

they could be recovering from something that would put them at risk of injury. not to mention many of the elderly that work out might not be able to lift those heavier plates

2

u/ImNotHaunted 22h ago

And what if someone with a disability or just isn’t very strong wants to use a light weight? Now they can’t access them. I’m sure that’ll be mildly infuriating. Don’t assume everyone’s ability

2

u/boredinbabylon 22h ago

Wrong.

MI work out six times (or seven) a week. People who stack weights this way are bozos. On most machines with these pegs, there are SEVERAL pegs: one for 2.5 pound weights, one for 5 pound, one for 29, 25, 35, 45.

People who stack it like this are just fucking lazy and need to take a course in gym etiquette.

Pictured is a smith machine, which absolutely has multiple pegs for different sizes of weights.

2

u/ImNotHaunted 22h ago

So many entitled people in here not even able to imagine that not everyone is physically strong or able enough to lift 20 plates around easily or safely.

The gym is for everyone.

9

u/Necessary-Dish-444 22h ago

then get it? what’s the issue lol

9

u/bismuth17 22h ago

Maybe the person who wants to exercise with a 2.5 is too weak or injured to lift the heavy plates out of the way

17

u/Herb-Anderson 22h ago

That they have to remove two heavier plates obviously. I don’t get it why people can’t put on the heavier plates first.

10

u/Glandtoglandcombat 22h ago

three

4

u/Herb-Anderson 22h ago

Oh wow, didn’t see that, that’s even more annoying

3

u/PrickyBlueEyes 22h ago

50% more annoying, to be exact

-3

u/Precumyumyum 22h ago

Because at lots of machines Most people use at least 1-2 20 plates each Side First. You don’t do legpress with 2.5 kg on each Side

7

u/boredinbabylon 22h ago

Hi! I work out six times (or seven) a week. People who stack weights this way are bozos. On most machines with these pegs, there are SEVERAL pegs: one for 2.5 pound weights, one for 5 pound, one for 29, 25, 35, 45.

Also: this is not a leg press in the photo.

6

u/maltliquorjetski 22h ago

💯 and a lot of people are telling on themselves in the comments rn

6

u/YTAftershock 22h ago

This wasn't on a machine. It was on the rack of the smith machine

-4

u/R34LEGND Corn for some reason 22h ago

Yeah and most people wont use the 2.5 so it gets pushed to the back as usually its still on there when the used weights are returned. Most people dont worry about reordering weights when returning them from a set...

It is what it is, build a bridge

6

u/YTAftershock 22h ago

Yeah I mean, it's not an issue for me, but it is a bit annoying. I thought that's what this sub was for 😭

6

u/destuctir 22h ago

Welcome to r/mildlyinfuriating, where everyone forgets the mildly party and has a go at OPs for raising legit minor grievances.

You’ve used the sub correctly and I agree it is annoying when inconsiderate people bury the small plates behind big ones

-5

u/Top-Average412 22h ago

Ugh, i hate moving weight when working out

5

u/TheDarkNerd 22h ago

I mean, I can imagine moving weights 20x the weight of what you're trying to grab would be mildly infuriating in a lot of circumstances.

3

u/Rich_Barracuda_796 22h ago

I think the toxic gym bros here like being condescending and making fun of people smh

3

u/karmacarmelon 22h ago

You're going to do some lifting anyway so that's just some extra to get to the plate you want.

1

u/BeanStalknJack 22h ago

This can be annoying if you're not strong enough to move the 45s

My wife surprises me every time she helps me stack cause she just lifts the 45s quite easily at 65kg bw. I'd try helping her but she'd give me that look like, "you're trying to mog me bro? Don't steal my gains" and so now I just leave her alone.

Something like this won't bother her and I'm rather thankful for it

1

u/boredinbabylon 22h ago

Nope. I bench 325 and this fucking annoys the shit out of me. It is terrible gum etiquette. Get a clue.

1

u/BeanStalknJack 11h ago

I should get a clue?? From what mate? the fact that you're lazy or weak despite being able to bench 325?
Psssh the audacity! Not even my wife complains about this shit and here you are and she can't even bench 100.
The context you added about being in a deload week would have helped a lot of people understand off-the-bat just how frustrating it is cause yeah, I can relate. It sucks 100% but in general, it's whatever to most people which is how I assume most peope took this post hence the downvotes

1

u/boredinbabylon 8h ago

Stacking weights willy nilly is poor gym etiquette. This sub is called “mildly infuriating,” it exists for people to complain. So yeah, get a clue.

1

u/BeanStalknJack 7h ago

Man you're thick

-2

u/Le_mehawk 22h ago edited 12h ago

Damn ....Lifter has to lift weights before he can lift weights...

3

u/boredinbabylon 22h ago

You are in a sub called “mildly infuriating.” The mildly infuriating part is because lazy people don’t know how to stack weights.

Does that make sense to you?

0

u/Less_Party 22h ago

I thought it was just called that because it's slightly infuriating to read.

0

u/Complex_Age_6848 22h ago

Oh, you mean the plate spacer.

-2

u/_visiblemode_ 22h ago

You’re at the gym. Lift weights.

-1

u/Born-Echidna2770 22h ago

People can see themselves the victim of anything

-3

u/Thy_OSRS 22h ago

2.5 Kg seems like such a pointless weight

3

u/Buller116 22h ago

If you are incredibly strong then yes, but we all got to start somewhere

2

u/YTAftershock 21h ago

Not really. Even if you're strong, 2.5kg is still additional weight.

You're telling me if your absolute maximum weight on a deadlift is 100kg, you can deadlift 102.5kg just as well?

For that reason, even 1.25kg plates exist. Everyone can use it to incrementally improve their strength without having to take large strides and risk injury

2

u/Thy_OSRS 21h ago

I foolishly forgot the /s but I’ll pay for it in my downvotes. I absolutely know that 2.5 is a huge step up on certain isolation movements, especially on the shoulders. I haven’t used them on compounds though.

1

u/YTAftershock 20h ago

Ah lol whoops. They've been pretty helpful for me on compounds, especially when I wanna break through a particular weight!

-10

[deleted]

u/Eth251201 22h ago

I can tell you dont lift weights

-4

u/[deleted] 22h ago

[deleted]

2

u/ImNotHaunted 22h ago

That’s because you’re only thinking of yourself and can’t fathom that some people aren’t able to lift 20 plates easily/safely

-1

u/[deleted] 22h ago

[deleted]

3

u/ImNotHaunted 13h ago

Small and trivial “to you”

3

u/Eth251201 22h ago

mildly. You cant really see how this is not even mildly annoying???

1

u/boredinbabylon 22h ago

You and your five pound dumbbells?

-7

u/Redditplaneter 22h ago

Then get it. It is exercise time.

6

u/WinterRevolutionary6 22h ago

Maybe they’re getting the 2.5 because the bigger plates are too heavy.

-3

u/Redditplaneter 21h ago

Not a big deal to remove the 45s and get the 2.5. It is exercise time.

-5

u/pmitov 22h ago

It's definitely annoying beacuse the previous user was too lazy to set the plates back, BUT... you're in the gym to lift weights. Lift some weights.

-5

u/No_Question_8083 22h ago edited 22h ago

Oh noo I need to pick up a weight in the gym to then load a machine to pick up weights in a slightly different way. Have a little grow up mate 😓

E: mb gang I didn’t see the 2.5, I thought the 20 was the 2.5 and thought the 25 was a 5kg plate holding you back from getting the 2.5

3

u/Rich_Barracuda_796 22h ago

LMAO, thats funny but mean. do bear in mind that some people that workout are still frail, such as the elderly or people recovering from major injuries. they might not be strong enough to remove those weights safely. be a bit more compassionate gym brother

2

u/No_Question_8083 22h ago

I know I also go to the gym, and if this were a 15/20/25kg plate in front of it, fair enough. But a 5kg plate is what’s ruining your day?? Come on…

E: oh shit I only see that 2,5 plate now. I thought the 20kg was the 2.5 and the 25kg was a 5kg plate. Fair enough

2

u/Rich_Barracuda_796 22h ago

its just mildly infuriating, which i agree with. I would be mildly pressed too but for other reasons.

r/mildlyinfuriating seems like the place to be mildly infuriated lol

3

u/boredinbabylon 22h ago

Sounds like someone who doesn’t go to the gym.

-2

u/Shirokami_Lupus 22h ago edited 21h ago

im 90% sure that is actually the correct way the reason being is people are obliviously eventually someone *will* grab the big one and drop the small one *possibly* on their feet

dont have any real source other then i work at a gym and think about things when i do them

it seems dumb but the amount of times ive heard people bitch about sitting or almost sitting on the bowl or in the bowl itself because they didnt use their damn eyes to see the seats up is astounding and somehow their incompetence is the fault of the person leaving it up

edit: well to clarify thatd be the correct way if theres only a few rods, usually theirs 4-5 diff rods for each weight but from a safety standpoint that it the correct way if theirs no other rods imo

-2

u/Financial_Doughnut53 22h ago

first time in the gym?
