Deposits are effective.

When I lived in LA my recycling never made it to the truck because homeless dumped all the recycling all the ground to grab some of it for deposit. Deposits made that city so much dirtier

Different deposit. These are deposits where you yourself go to the store and return the item’s packaging. You are talking about the recycling program.

What you say is not true. Recycling is not all over the street, people that deposit are generally respectful and clean that shit up. I live in LA, and recycling gets to the truck just fine.

Maybe if you made it easy for people by leaving a bag of bottles, or participating in the program yourself, you wouldn’t have that problem with your local “homeless person”.

Both your experiences could be true or you could both be lying. The latter would be hilarious.

What likely happened to them is there was ONE disrespectful motherfucker that left trash everywhere.

Most of the people collecting bottles in LA make quite a business of it. $200 gmc sierra filled to the brim is a common sight.

Also very possible bro just hates immigrants.

So are the check-in discounts. I downloaded Aliexpress to get some screenshots to prove a point.

Got curious about the discounts. Did the coin thing and got $5 credit immediately. Then I’m like F it let me search my current Amazon cart and see if it’s cheaper.

Went from $80 with Prime, to $21 with Aliexpress.

I obviously ordered. The thing is, apparently they do that to everyone. Save your first order with them something obscure, cause you only get the crazy deal first order. Mine was two cool flashlights I’d been wanting.

There was a bar near us that required a $12 deposit on any Mule drinks served in a copper cup.

It was a real pain in the ass stealing a cup off my neighbors table so I didn't get charged for it 😂😂

Went to a music festival where they did this. It worked amazingly well. You’d get a 2 euro refund for returning your cups/bottes. I doubt Americans could be trusted with such responsibilities though (this was in Germany).

We've had deposits in the US my entire life. I have memories of returning Ale8 bottles to the grocery store with my grandfather who died when I was 5.

0

u/Santa_Klausing Sep 10 '26

I was speaking only to doing this at music festivals. Of course there are bottle deposits all over the US lol

u/HotSalt3 Sep 10 '26

I'd be shocked if concert goers anywhere wouldn't want to save a little money. It's been years since I've been to one (my wife gets migraines triggered by loud sounds,) but the price of drinks was always absurdly high.

Bro it’s crazy in the states now. My wife went to one recently where a 20 oz modelo was $19. At the festival we did in Germany 16 oz was 6 euro

And they sell shots now for like $15 each in single use plastic. I agree with you. This wouldn't happen in America.

Oh you went to douche festivals no wonder you think this

1

u/Santa_Klausing Sep 10 '26

Douche festivals? Which festivals in the US don’t have issues with garbage on the ground after each night ends? Look at any major insomniac festival and that’s the status quo. We aren’t as bad as the British at least.

1

u/sexytokeburgerz Sep 10 '26

Insomniac has a massively douchey crowd. Haha if that’s your example of “not douchey” that’s crazy. It’s almost as bad as HARD.

I was just at LiB and the stages were well picked up. Eclipse is the same way. Northern Nights is the same way. Desert Hearts is far better with trash than anything I have seen. Cleaner than Japan. What the Fest? was like this as well. RIP.

1

u/Santa_Klausing Sep 10 '26

I have no doubt desert hearts would be good. I used to run with that crew back in 2017. I’ve been to LIB and the end of the nights look similar to insomniac fests. Lib should honestly try out the refund scheme many euro festivals do to limit single use plastics

Every festival in the US with a trash problem seems to do this.

Funny you say americans can’t be trusted, because the “transformational festivals” like eclipse, lib, deaert hearts, do not have a bottle deposit or a trash problem. People just pick up their trash.

1

u/Santa_Klausing Sep 10 '26

Americans can’t be trusted. Look at the dance floors when people leave festivals. Even lib gets trashy on the grounds after the end of each night. It’s disgusting walking out of almost any insomniac festival besides Dreamstate

1

u/sexytokeburgerz Sep 10 '26

I was just at lib and the stages are really clean outside of the pit where people cannot help it.

1

u/Santa_Klausing Sep 10 '26

That’s the issue. People can help it, they just choose to be lazy. It’s why a glass bottle deposit scheme would never work here cuz Americans would just end up dropping them on the ground and leaving them.

1

u/sexytokeburgerz Sep 10 '26

Try getting 10 feet through zeds dead and get back to me haha

1

u/aliie_627 Sep 10 '26

Plenty of states do deposits.

0

u/Santa_Klausing Sep 10 '26

Yes but not at music festivals in the US

1

u/sexytokeburgerz Sep 10 '26

Absolutely not true. Insomniac has deposit programs and they fucking RUN the massive rave scene.

1

u/Santa_Klausing Sep 10 '26

Weird every insomniac festival I’ve been to sold me drinks in plastic and I’d just have to put it in a recycling bin. Which festivals have they done the deposit setup for drink purchases?

1

u/sexytokeburgerz Sep 10 '26

Oof i may have dated myself (i dont go to mainstream edm festivals much anymore as theyre full of douchebags)

…about 10-15 years ago they had a program. They may still have this, you can check at guest services.

1

u/Santa_Klausing Sep 10 '26

I stopped going to anything insomniac run awhile back once I found out the owner is a lowkey maga dude 😂. I wish there were more smaller east coast festivals with more newer styles that are popping off in Europe. But america is always a few years behind Europe.

1

u/sexytokeburgerz Sep 10 '26

You have big dub and elements which i hear are nice

1

u/aliie_627 Sep 10 '26

I guess. Have you ever tried it?

1

u/Santa_Klausing Sep 10 '26

I experienced it at a festival in Germany and another in Croatia. It worked very well! But Europeans don’t seem to get as messed up as the Americans do at festivals. I just imagine smashed glass all over the place 😂

1

u/aliie_627 Sep 10 '26

Oooh is that what you are getting at? It read to me that you are saying we wouldn't be capable? I have heard that people in Europe do handle their alcohol much better. Good point.

So i can't judge that part but burning man goers are pretty good at taking all their trash with then dumping all their trash in Reno(nearest big city to burning man). I so I would think we are capable but some people are assholes lol.

1

u/Santa_Klausing Sep 10 '26

There’s a reason Europeans call British people the Americans of Europe 😂 burning man is a rare example. It also has a much more mature crowd with an entire CULTure built around it haha

1

u/sexytokeburgerz Sep 10 '26

They’re talking out of their ass.

0

u/hatescarrots Sep 10 '26

”haha suckers, This is mine now”

0

u/SickeningPink Sep 10 '26

The local brewery to me in Pennsylvania does this. A case of returnable bottles is the same price as a case of non-returnables, but you get a $7 discount if you bring back a full case of empties

0

u/Santa_Klausing Sep 10 '26

Yeah I do it with milk bottles! I was mainly referring to the fact that they did it at a festival I went to. I couldn’t imagine this working at an American festival

-1

u/hooli-ceo Sep 10 '26

Well, that's just rude to 350 million people... and half of them are just children for God's sake!
