And you just took those piss jars and left the shop? See I'm not usually one to cause a scene but if I was served THAT for 17$ there would be some discussion to be had
No that’s the exact volume they gave me. I have decent social anxiety and a quick temper. I didn’t want to make a scene or be treated a fool by “not understanding” this is my order without being told that’s how much it yielded if that makes sense. I just grabbed the shit and walked out
So you paid $17 for 24 oz of coffee, they gave you 24 oz of coffee, and you're upset at them? They gave you exactly what you ordered. It's on you for choosing to pay that much for that amount of coffee lol
Where is that, that the prices are not, at least (!) shown on some menu or at the counter somewhere?
I mean 8.50 for a coffee is just ridiculous and, if not shown how much it costs, quite some reason to just walk out. Yes, not the nicest feeling but somewhere, a line has to be drawn…
(Obligatory “or do they put some bourbon in there…?”)
Yeah what the fuck- does that mean they’re buying different beans that vary in price so much that it can’t have a consistent price? Because that’s the only way it would make sense to apply mp to coffee.
I don't know what the situation is in the US, but in Sweden the prices have fluctuated pretty weirdly the last couple of years. Maybe not enough for setting market prices, but still.
No it means they change the beans they have on selection frequently and don’t want to print new menus every-time. And yes prices in specialty coffee do vary a lot.
You're in for a very rude awakening when it comes to coffee prices in the near future. China is becoming a world leader in coffee consumption leading to much less supply worldwide. Prices are going to continue to increase for bean imports.
Not to mention we're coming off the worst year in decades for coffee production, Brazil and Vietnam (2 largest coffee producers) had terrible growing seasons in 2025 due to severe weather.
In 2025 arabica beans were almost 80% more expensive than the previous year, and robusta beans hit a 50+ year high in price.
2026 appears to have been a better growth year, but prices have not lowered significantly to reflect that, and may never.
Do you live under a rock? Chocolate was already on this same trend for years. Chocolate is at an all time high that continues to rise rapidly. Prices in grocery stores are continually raising month by month.
The el Niño weather events devastated chocolate crops for the past 2 seasons.
This is why shrinkflation is happening to bars worldwide, as well as the ever growing "chocolate flavoured' signifier appearing on products everywhere.
One full jar and it isn't the same drink as OP's. I'm sure if OP got milk and foam it would be to the top, but it looks like they just got black coffee. And although the jar is 12 ounces that standard pour for a cup of coffee is between 6-8 ounces. Which they got.
I live here, Amberson coffee is amazing and loved in the community. They have a no tipping policy and pay their employees well above average. Coffee is spectacular but yeah, you can spend some $$ on the specialty stuff. But it’s not like the prices are a secret.
If my mcdonalds looks like garbage I ask for my money back. I dont take it and complain about it when im alone. I also hate spending money on garbage, but thats a personal thing.

I love that they buy it too. They see the price, order and then act like they're forced to pay $17 for 12 Oz of
teathe world's weakest looking coffee
