I get it

But… as a teacher in a high school Yondr pouches would be so awesome (or just having a school district that mandates zero phone use in school but that’s hard I guess)

I think having a policy that it goes to the office until the end of day is good enough. Locking up someone else's property is not acceptable and not your place to do.

Additionally as a teacher you should know that trying to stop teenagers from doing something only makes them better at hiding it.

They should be able to use their phone during breaks and stuff. How do these work? Are you going to volunteer to spend time in your class unlocking them before the break? What a waste of time and resources.

My school simply took your phone if you were on it during a time where you weren't allowed, and most teachers were capable of using their own critical thinking to determine if they should take it. If you were checking it while the teacher was preparing or If you were doing well and getting your work done and had to check a message, they couldn't care less.
