I'm in Ardwick M13
So for context:
I'm an international student, I came to the UK a month ago to study a foundation course to them progress to Uni.
I applied for my bank account a month ago as well from HSBC as well, and after a month of back and forth it ended up expiring.
I've got no money at this point, I came to the UK with 500£ and ended up spending on it, which was so fucking stupid of me to spend everyday on store brought foods and fastfood since the first 2 weeks were spent in the le ville hotel.
I'm in my accomodation now and have been relying on Olio for the past 2 weeks now, it's been such a great help honestly, but it's so hard to get hands on food as it sells out quickly and my shitty sleep schedule due to insomnia has changed my schedule many times.
These past days I've been eating bread loaves and baguettes and trying to keep them to last longer, yes they are expired and a lot of them got moldy after a few days but I'm still trying to make them last longer and safer to eat.
I can't even use my kitchen since I don't have cooking equipment and cooking supplies.
And I can't even go more than 2km from my place since I don't have a car and would have to walk.
Please is there anyway to get food from somewhere else as well? Thank you if you do contribute and help me out.

Looking for a local bakery to provide a big vegan cake (to feed 24 people) or possibly cupcakes this weekend. This is obviously a bit of a tight turnaround since most places require you to order a week or more before
At the moment I’m looking at Hey Little Cupcake as the most likely option, if anyone has experience w them or knows another option it’d be appreciated!

Hello a bit random but does anyone know if the pedestrian crossing outside the John Rylands Library enforces red light offences, as in driving through while the light is red for vehicles.

Hi everyone,
I’ll be in Manchester from 23–27 October and I’ve just found out that I need to work remotely on Tuesday 27th before flying home. I’m staying around St Lawrence Street / M15 4DY. My plan is to start work from my Airbnb in the morning, but I may have to check out before I finish work. I’ve asked the host if I can stay until around 2pm, but I’m looking for a backup option just in case. Ideally, I’m looking for somewhere within about 30 minutes of St Lawrence Street, so I could move there during a work break and continue working straight away.
I’d need somewhere suitable for several hours of remote work with:
-reliable Wi-Fi,
- a proper table/desk,
- somewhere reasonably quiet,
- the possibility of taking an occasional quiet call,
- no issue with sitting there and working for a few hours (3-4),
A coworking space with a day pass would probably be ideal, but I’d also be happy with a laptop-friendly café, hotel lobby/business lounge, library, or anything similar.
I need to work until around 2:00pm local time, and my flight from Manchester Airport is at 4:55pm, so somewhere with a reasonably easy connection to the airport afterwards would be a big advantage.
Does anyone know a good place around M15, Oxford Road, Deansgate, Piccadilly or nearby that would work for this?
I’d really appreciate any recommendations!!

Just being nosy 🧐 walked past new Islington tram stop at about 4pm and wondering if anyone knows what all the police vans and bikes where for?

Don't know the Manchester skyline well enough to be sure. This is viewed from Manchester city centre, so would be looking at the East stand of the stadium if it is

Hi,
I was recently stopped by police over a traffic offence. Provided them with my license information and they informed me they'd be in touch.
I've been waiting for my fpn for few weeks now and nothing. I read online a few people have had theirs lost in mail and got summoned to court.
Out of curiosity, does anyone know if GMP send out reminder for fpn to ensure the mail got delivered?

Hi all!
Since the closing of Napoleons and a few other spots in Chinatown, we've been struggling finding a good Karaoke alternative in Manchester. Does anyone have any gotos that have good Chinese food and is relatively cheap? (Anywhere that isn't K2)
Thanks!

I've just been to see a flat that has a parking space included, but when I got there the letting agent said it was tandem parking, so the building management have a copy of everyone's keys and can let people out when they need their car.
Does anyone have any experience with this? It sounds like a massive headache to have to wait for someone else to move their car every time I want to leave.
I need my car for work 5 days a week so just wanting to see if anyone has done this before and thinks it's doable.

HI everyone,
I know this question probably comes up a lot, but I'd love to get an honest take on student life at Manchester Metropolitan uni-specifically regarding nightlife, social scene, and off-campus (activities).
I'm an exchange student from France (fluent in three languages) and love meeting new people, so socializing isn't an issue for me.
Since this is the only exchange semester of my degree, I want to make sure I pick a location where I can truly make the most of the experience.
How would you rate the overall social dynamic on and around campus?

Hi everyone,
I’ve received a job offer for £53,000 a year and am considering relocating to Manchester or somewhere nearby, possibly Wilmslow, with my partner.
We’d be living on my salary initially, so I’m trying to understand whether £53k would be enough for a couple to live comfortably, rent a decent 1–2 bedroom flat, cover bills, groceries and transport, and still have some money left to save each month.
I’d really appreciate some honest advice from people currently living in the area.
- What would be a realistic monthly budget for a couple?
- Which areas would you recommend for reasonable rent and a good quality of life?
-Would £53k be comfortable on one income, or would it feel tight?
- Is Wilmslow or outside of city centre is worth considering, or would we be better off elsewhere around Greater Manchester?
Thanks in advance!

Where do you go for tasting events in the city or outside of it?

Apologies for the supremely boring post but…I’m travelling to Manchester tomorrow and need to work out logistics.
We are driving from the Midlands and going to the city centre (near Piccadilly station). I have assumed this will be a nightmare to drive around and best avoided but please tell me if that’s not the case.
If we would be better off using a park and ride scenario, which are recommended and which are best avoided? We’d be coming in from south/east of the city - Hazel Grove P&R seems to be the closest to us driving wise.
Please share your local dull travel knowledge!! Thank you 🙏🐝

The boards of Southway Housing Trust and Wythenshawe Community Housing Group approved their merger, and the new group will be the largest housing association in Greater Manchester. They’ll service more than 47k residents and 21k homes.
The new organisation will be called Southway Wythenshawe Homes until they work on a long-term name and brand. The new organisation aims to build 3,200 new social homes within the next 5 years.

Hi all, I am looking at buying a flat in Albion Works in New Islington and interested in an issues owners may have found with the building. We’ve had issues with the windows in our current building so really interested to know how quickly issues are dealt with and what general opinions of the development. Thanks
