Missed connection at the grocery store

• Upvotes

Tonight at like 10:30, you were the cute moustachio'd man who walked past me in the frozen food aisle and, in my mind, gave me a flirty smile. When I saw you were checking out at the same time as me, I checked out across from you (while checking you out) and then smiled at you when we made eye contact as you walked away to the north, me to the parking lot.

This is not an Airplane Noise Complaint post

We live directly below one of the main flight paths on the near east side and it’s very typical for us to practically be able to wave hello to pilots from our yard. Tonight two incredibly loud helicopters flew over….(did anyone else hear that?!)….and it shook our house and peaked my interest. Does anyone know what that was about? It was outside the usual jet noise.

Recommendations for a good finish/trim carpenter?

Reddit has helped me find a fantastic mechanic, a washing machine repairman, and someone to fix our roof, so I’m back again hoping you wonderful people can work your magic. 😂

We’re looking for a finish carpenter to install baseboards, door and window trim, and some stair trim.

We had someone come out today to give us an estimate, and I genuinely don’t know if he was having the worst day of his life or just has absolutely no filter. 🤣

He was rude, rushed, and as he walked around taking measurements, he kept muttering things OUT LOUD like, “These fucking people…” and “This fucking door…” He also informed us that he refuses to do stair trim because it’s too much work.

Soooo… needless to say, we’re going to keep looking. 😂

Looking for new tattoo artist

Post image
6 Upvotes

I got this tattoo done at Iron Quill about four and a half years ago and I just found out today that they're now closed. I don't remember the name of the artist, and she didn't regularly work at Iron Will Quill either, from what I remember, so I don't really have a way to find her.

I've gotten another cat since getting this done and wanted to add his paw print in the same style-with watercolor behind it to match his eye color. Does anyone have any recommendations for artists that could emulate this style while maintaining accuracy for the ink paw print?

Anyone looking to do some multi-day backpacking?

I'm looking at doing some multi-day trips before the snow falls. Given it's more fun to skip out-and-backs, and loops are sometimes hard to come by, is anyone interested in coordinating? Either multiple cars with a swap or carpool and drop one group and take opposite routes, crossing in the middle.

I was thinking bits of the Superior Hiking Trail or anything in the UP - open to ideas.

Not opposed to company, either. I'm moderately experienced and wouldn't want a breakneck pace, but I would want to cover some distance.

New OBGYN search

Hello,

Looking for recommendations for a new OBGYN through Dean/SSM Health. I would prefer one with no ties to religion despite working for a catholic organization. Having to find a new OB three months into pregnancy after our employer switched. SOS!

Thank you!

Common Council VP Defends Interim Police Monitor’s Bad Behavior

Thumbnail facebook.com

You’d expect this kind of defense from a layperson, but not a member of the Common Council’s leadership team. Defending a city employee that’s willfully violating the state’s open records law is certainly a choice. The Medical Examiner has been waiting four months for the Monitor to turn over her evidence. Also, posting on Facebook is fine, but this communication belongs on Alder Glenn’s official blog as well.

Specialist for hypermobility/mast cell

I'm moving to Madison and need to get started with new doctors. Wondering if anyone has experience with

- a physical therapist for hypermobility

- someone who can do genetic testing for EDS

- a doctor that treats mast cell problems

I've been diagnosed with MCAS and some kind of hypermobility but wasn't able to get in for genetic testing before my move. I will have Dean or Quartz insurance through Epic (haven't picked yet).

Thanks!

Memorial Ideas

I'm planning ahead (I have stage 4 cancer but I'm doing okay and likely have several more years left if not longer, so don't fret!), BUT, I'm looking for ideas for a physical memorial item/area/thing I can arrange ahead of time [maybe most people's friends/family arrange, but it will help me to know what it is and pay for it]. I will probably purchase a plot in one of the catholic cemeteries where my family is buried, but I'm an atheist, so I'd like a spot people can go to remember me that is more in line with how I lived (as a heathen lol). I would love something associated with the lakes/water or animals (OR I do love UW and sports, but they kind of already have enough of my money lol). Thanks!

Why are there so many wrecks along the Monona section of the beltline?

I recently took a job that entails a daily commute to Monona. I’ve noticed that traffic always seems to slow down at this section of the beltline, and there are frequent wrecks. Does anyone know why this is the case? Does it have to do with road design? Or are wrecks in this section as frequent as other sections and I’m just noticing this more?

Short-Notice Massage

Are there any places in town that consistently offer more short notice appointments and are actually legit?

Ideally, I would be able to plan ahead more, but my schedule tends to be unpredictable and it’s also hard to know in advance that a particular day might be a really good one to get a massage.

The problem is that I’ve tried a few places and it becomes clear that the back/neck massage is not exactly the focus. I wasn’t aware of how crazy prominent this sort of thing is.

I conceptionally don’t mind if consenting adults are doing this sort of thing (I would worry about massage workers being exploited, however). But this kind of thing is not what I’m looking for. I’ve tried redirecting the sort of thing back to the actual massage, and while that does work, the massages themselves aren’t very good.

I understand the ideal answer is probably “just plan ahead”. But sort of hoping that someone might know of a place or two in town that is really good and might work for getting in same-day.

EDIT: thanks everybody for the recommendations, I was able to find a place that can get me in today! Hopefully my schedule gets more predictable, but it’s nice to have all of these recommendations for now.

Experience as Marriage therapist/counselor

Hi! I'm hoping to connect with marriage therapists/counselors in the Madison area to hear about their experience in the field and working with couples. I'm a senior at UW-Madison, and I'm starting to think about what route I want to take after graduation and whether being a therapist, social worker, or counselor would be a good fit for me :)
