I keep my own movie collection for Kodi/Jellyfin, and over the years the metadata drifted: missing or tiny posters, broken NFO files, IMDb/TMDb IDs that point to the wrong film, genres like "Family/Fantasy" in one tag, ratings with 0 votes. Fixing that folder by folder was not realistic, so I built MediaClinic, a free tool for anyone who keeps their own movie library (Kodi, Jellyfin, Emby, or Plex with NFO files).
What it does:
- Scans a folder-per-movie library (local or NAS) and reads Kodi .nfo and Emby/Jellyfin movie.xml
- Shows every problem in one colour-coded table: red errors, yellow warnings, with the reason for each
- Checks artwork (poster, folder, fanart, backdrops): missing, corrupt, too small, wrong proportions
- Optional FFprobe check: resolution, audio languages, subtitles
- Fixes the common problems: normalise genres, sync ratings from TMDb/OMDb (your own free API keys), fetch artwork from TMDb, and Auto Repair with a dry-run preview (new in 0.19.0)
- Backs up every NFO/XML before writing it, and never touches your video files
- Private by design: no account, no tracking, no server of mine. Your library stays on your computer and I never see anything from it. The only internet connections are to TMDb/OMDb, and only when you use rating sync, artwork download or ID checks, with your own API keys.
Free and open source (MIT licence), for Windows. There's a ready-to-run exe (v0.18.4, not code-signed, so SmartScreen will warn), and the newest version 0.19.0 runs from Python source.
Honest note: I'm not a professional developer. I built it with Claude (Anthropic's AI) as the coding partner, tested every version on my own library, and kept every earlier version on GitHub. An automated test suite runs on every change.

Want to help? I'm looking for:
- Testers: run it on your library and tell me what breaks or confuses you. Large libraries, NAS shares and unusual folder layouts are the most useful. GitHub Issues is best; comments here are fine too.
- Linux or macOS users: try it from source. The automated tests pass on Linux, but I've only used it day to day on Windows.
- Python developers: small pull requests are welcome, see CONTRIBUTING.md.
FYI v.0.19.1 with exe is coming in few days [EDIT: It is already out]
