Game Mod Making a KoA overhaul, v1.2 available
Hi, I'm working in an overhaul of koarr , started with common desires since the announce of the remaster, transmog in gane, set collection and availability, re order of the stash and more , Version 1 3 is coming.
I'm working on a huge bug fixing update .
Companion system.
New textures , sets , and more.
I'd appreciate if people give it a go and track it, updates are coming fairly fast and my understanding not only if Lua but game files , hashes etc is ever growing.
Current and future versions available in nexus, read description and changelog
https://www.nexusmods.com/kingdomsofamalurrereckoning/mods/89
Please make suggestions and help with the game bugs list , there's no really comprehensive list afaik.

I am unreasonably excited for this!
My only request is that if it becomes much bigger you please make a submod for just transmogs. To be clear, I am personally super interested in everything else you listed, especially companions, but I think transmogs are the number one thing everyone wants.

The idea is everything to be modular the stuff that is not uploaded on its own is because it needs set seeker core to function+which is not s big deal) if set seeker remains necessary to access the hub menu (inm hoping to make everything independent) you will only need set seeker + transmog to have transmog. Companions are probably gonna be the next big feature to release , at least in it's beta form (just a couple , no voice lines, etc )

This is the most exciting Amalur news since Re-Reckoning was announced! Let us know if you set up a Patreon or donation page. I'm poor but I could scrounge up something for my favorite RPG ever to get something like this. :)

Thnx a lot , I actually made a Patreon page earlier and never used it , I think is a cool way to let people now where the project is going like devlog or something, and obviously donations are welcome I work on this daily , but never gonna charge or stop because of money , probably helps with the burnout tho lol

Would this work with SteamDeck install?

u/KeyWorker5773 9d ago
Honestly not sure , for the time being I believe it should, if the mod framework is deck friendly, I believe it is

I understand this feeling all too well. So many things are just better on pc

That’s awesome! Idk if this is in scope, but proper ultrawide support would be dope.

I haven't touched KoA in a good while but transmog is like, my one and only true wish for the game (and basically every RPG ever)

What do you mean by set availability, if I may ask? This looks incredible!

u/KeyWorker5773 9d ago
The full mechanism is in the link , but basically, every time you loot you roll chances for a level appropriate set piece , the chances improve with bosses and subbosses , and you get one after many lost rolls , yo never pick te same piece again but once collected itd part of your collection and when you collect a full set you can buy ina menu ,the full set with values adjusted to current level
Set drips are defines by your stats you don't get sets not useful for your build, you're gonna get every set in a full playthrough

Oh!
Okay, so it’s both a storage-inventory fix and a way to help players loot sets they want that they might miss pieces of under the base system?
5
u/KeyWorker5773 9d ago
With the base system completing non set quests is close to impossible and they quickly become useless because of leveling and forged gear this solves both issues. Yes is also storage fix in a way , you can re buy any set you complete and follow your progress regarding your collection, also, the way gear order is stored in the stash has been fixed to have ubiques and set in order instead of the chaos it was before , uniques have also been slightly buffed to be worth it despite forged gear , some kind of beef/rework of some aspects of forged gear is in the cards

Cool!
That was an issue I ran into with my sorcery playthrough a while back. I wanted to get the Children of Erathell set for the drip, but even savescumming wouldn’t make every piece drop.

u/KeyWorker5773 9d ago
Regarding drip , the mod also allow you to give crafted gear the look of any set piece you have collected

I saw you mentioned transmogs! The mod sounds awesome! I’ll have to give it a shot for my next playthrough!

do you have any plans to tweak training? i always felt that if i didn't visit them in time, i was effectively losing out on skill points.

Can you rig it to show an option to skip the tutorial area? Run through the part where you're on the cart, pick your race and appearance and name, dump you in the chute... then give you a prompt to skip all the rest and jump straight to the room where you pick out your gear? The one that's right before the troll fight.
You don't get anything of substance between those two points. The game has an option to suppress the tutorial prompts, but you still have to take the expected actions, it just doesn't tell you what they are.

I really like your mods is awesome and give what was messing in Koa can't to wait to see what next. Idk if you can't do it but a better lock system can be cool
3
u/KeyWorker5773 8d ago
Better like what ,?
1
u/Feisty-Ad9486 3d ago
I don’t know with the engine if it’s possible to decide which target we want to lock, a bit like

u/alkonium 9d ago
You mentioned new menus, and I only see KBM prompts in your screenshots; do these also work with controller?
1
u/KeyWorker5773 9d ago
The hub of the menus open by quickly using two times the center camera key , everything should work with a joystick, I do not use one so I'll like to confirm it , but is supposed to

I haven't really touched the game on PC. now I feel that I should.

u/Scogg33 8d ago
Its worth it even without mods
2
u/XiranRaikou Jack of All Trades 8d ago
Oh I know. I played it on console primarily and sunk hundreds of hours into it. When I got the PC version I kinda left it on the back burner, but seeing the features that this modder is adding, I'll definitely be starting up a new game with the mods and seeing how different it plays.

u/KeyWorker5773 8d ago
There is a tutorial from the start in the nexus page which i believe is correct , remember you need mod framework, don't hesitate to ask if you have specific doubts
