Discussion HOLY SHI this game is so friggin good!
from the combat to the story to the music to the colorful world...this game is just so good. every single character interested me, the armor sets and weapons look cool as hell. holy man, i wish there were more options for character creation but otherwise this game is near perfect...i can see doing a replay just to try other build and playstyles and i never do that. i mean, R.A. Salvatore is involved so couldnt expect any less...but seriously, big names aside, this is so much better than Skyrim...which tbh i dont really like for whatever reason. I'm hooked.
I hope whoever got the IP continues to expand the universe...if not it'd be such a pity.

Fun facts along with R.A Salvore involvement
The lead designer of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, Ken Rolston, served as the exclusive designer for Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning
Todd McFarlane was the executive art director
Grant Kirkhope did the soundtrack. Some of his prior work was on 007 golden eye, perfect dark, killer instinct 2 i think, conker, star fox, banjo, donkey kong i forget which one atm and a number of other classics of yesterday and today
All these heavy hitters coming together and created a pretty damn cool experience

im expecting KOA to get a sequel sooner or later, im looking forward to the THQ Nordic show this Aug 7. man honest tho, i hate to be a downer but knowing all these heavy hitters got together just makes me worry about the sequel. nowhere but down kinda situation. i hope if we get a sequel ever, at least Salvatore and Ken Rolston will return, or at least others with their level of pedigree.
that being said, Rolston being involved just makes sense. oblivion was such a charming game to me. i played it (not the remaster, i played both in 2011) at the same time i played skyrim and despite being a graphics kind of person, ive always liked oblivion so much better than skyrim.

Been so many years Will most likely never get a KOA 2 or any kind like it sadly tho if there would be one i would even pay 100€ for it whitout hesitation if it would be even half as good as the first one the one they were planning on way back was never made tho sadly had art made for it and all

I've also just discovered this game and I'm hooked with the side quest loop same as I was with Skyrim but with a combat system that feels more like a character action game than an RPG, amazing.

I think it’s the fastest a game has ever gone from “never heard of it” to “one of my all time faves.” SO much fun to play!

this game has always been on my radar, just that for some reason i didnt expect to like it. but i really really do. i love that the vibe and story is fun like wow but it can be deep too. and im a wow veteran but i cant play it rn bc i dont wanna pay the subscription only for my guild to tell me i suck so i cant come along on the raid lmao. i dont suck, i look up youtube vids on raid bosses mechanics i just dont have the time to grind for good enough gear.
it just really reminds me of lotr and i am a huge lotr fan. its like lotro story and character-wise but with wow's colorful vibrant vibe, i could go on and on but ill stop haha. (sorry im so psyched about this game, it is just, its really really hard for me to find things i like).

Totally understand! It really is this kind of magical balance of elements that all come together perfectly.

Agreed! A fellow newcomer, I was trying Dragons Dogma 1 and hated it so bad I needed something to wash the taste out of my mouth. Gave this a try and Im in love.
Was a classic WoW player back in the day and it scratches that same itch. Love the side quests so far and class building, just colorful and fun.
Had actually never heard of it, the development was interesting to learn about; I'm already hooked enough that Im praying for them to do anything continuing the IP!

It really was ahead of its time and under rated.
It was a really good game. Gorgeous to play.
It unfortunately didn’t do well when it came out. But if people actually gave it a chance, they would love it.

Haven’t played in the last couple of years, but KOAR is still in my collection. I bought the original and later upgraded to Re-reckoning expansion because I wanted to see the franchise expand.
Getting more people playing and talking about it could make something happen. The company that currently has the rights to sell it was exploring expansion but may have been disappointed with how Re-reckoning sold.

Yeah this is either bait or someone who doesn't play enough video games. Extremely outdated graphics even from 2012 standards, emotionless NPCs that talk like they're wikipedia and literally none of them are interesting or memorable, generic fantasy armour/weapon designs that feel like they're made by a 12-year old, mind-numbingly boring story... oh you're the chosen one, here are some fetch quests for you... so cool. Nothing about this game is above 4/10 except for gameplay and character progression. I admit it feels good gearing your character.
And calling this mediocre game better than Skyrim... LOL. Cmon OP, I know it's your opinion, but a very bad one.

Some valid points, though personally find the game really enjoyable if not a bit too many side quests, id say critically it's at least a 6, but id probably personally rate it closer to 7.5-8 as it's a pretty fun game, combat looks great especially with chakrams and the spells are really satisfying

Imagine showing up to someone's fan club and saying "C'mon, it's not THAT good!" What a strange way to force your OPINION on other people in a sub specifically to talk about THIS game and how people enjoy it. I hope someone tells you soon that something you love is "Meh" just so you understand why this take is asinine.

Welcome to Amalur! It's easily one of my favorite games in the genre. Has a super interesting (sad) development history too.
Glad to see a new fan!
