Screenshot Incredible Atmosphere

This game has such a warm, magical, whimsical and high fantasy vibe that is still not matched by games today. Can’t get enough of exploring this world.

Especially since the only similar games, that i have found atmosphere wise, are a MMO I dont play: WoW, and the old Fable Trilogy. And clearly the new Fable doesn’t like that so far as we have seen.

strange, I didn't feel like WOW has similar atmosphere. I saw several platformers though.

As for Fable - well, I need to play that someday

Maybe atmosphere is the wrong word. The artists who did the backgrounds and character designs (besides the guy behind the Marvel comic book character Spawn) were partially inspired by WOW and Fable 1. Plus Amalur was originally supposed to get a MMO (internal name of Project Capernicus) but decided to do a single player game (KOA) first to get more money for said MMO.

Amalur was originally supposed to get a MMO

though looking at the screenshots it appears that the MMO would have been like WOW, not the action combat from Reckoning.

But looking at the Copernicus map it's quite obvious they took inspiration from WOW. You can clearly see "Oh this is Durotar" "This is Felwood" "This is Darkshore" "This is Dun Morogh" "This is Duskwood" "This is the Barrens" "This is Stranglethorn Vale"

My favorite places in the game are The Sidhe and Alabastra! They’re gorgeous and they feel so alive.

KOA is glorious. The artistic accents and fluidity are admirable.

In before you hard lock yourself by killing someone before you were supposed to.

The art director worked on TES games and also Dragon Age. It really shows nicely

Hey, two-legs!

I think I played too much if I recognise the location by just looking at the minimap
