Question Got extremely powerful daggers just after the intro from a chest, this seems probably not normal?

Post image

I got these daggers almost immediately after leaving the intro. Not from the chest of super-items in town, it was just a random chest, or maybe it was one of the loot pools in the water?

Now, 9 levels later, I still haven't found anything remotely close to as powerful. Is this a known loot scaling issue or did I just hit the jackpot early?

Probably just got lucky with the item roll, if you want you can get your Blacksmithing up so when you do need to upgrade you can just scrap them over and over until you get the part that does all that lightning damage

I tend to enjoy the "use what you find" approach without any heavy crafting. I'm slotting gems into empty sockets but I'm mostly in detect hidden, mercantile, dispelling, and stealth.

I bought this game at release (I was at the GameStop release in MA with Schilling and RA Salvatore) but this is my first time playing since probably 2013. It's so ridiculously fun.

Yeah I'm taking all the non-crafting skills. I think that's the move.

I wouldn’t recommend save scumming the parts. That’s a path to getting too overpowered to the point the game becomes a bore since nothing can hurt you and you deal ridiculous damage.

Yeah I'm with you. I really like to just go with the flow.

Try not using weapons. Hand to hand the game if you think your invincible

Been a while since I played but pretty sure it’d be the same, most resistance are on armour slots and with my endgame set I literally could only take physical damage and even then had maxed armour (there’s a cap where additional armour does nothing). It would just take forever to kill anything.

That optional mine after the tutorial area? In the hidden treasure spot, I found a health regeneration item. 2.5 hp regeneration with a bonus 50 hp amulet. And I was level 2.

You just got lucky; I got a couple uniques that were better than my mastercrafted weapons from gravehal keep via ship wrecks when I was between level 29-30

The 37/20 lightning just seems nuts for a weapon with no level reqs.

Yeah, Ferria Salt, an Adessa vender, sells a similar, better weapon

I’ve found a lot of really decent gear in the little area just after the intro. Stuff with +3 to all sorcery skills, or +120 to mana or health, or +25% single element damage.

I think the area might just be bugged at a higher progression.

This seems likely. I scour every corner and nothing has come close to this.

I've gotten that, helps a lot

Loot should scale to your lvl afaik. Do you have Detect Hidden? That might do it.

7

u/OctagonTrail Jan 08 '26

I'm the race that starts with detect hidden, and this was probably after I took an extra point. After way more detect hidden points, still nothing better. But I'll take it! Daggers have been super fun.

I got those daggers at level 2 in my last playthrough.

1

u/OctagonTrail Jan 08 '26

Ok so is it just the secondary effect that has insane potential? I haven't seen anything close even 10 levels later. Everything else seems super linear based on level.

1

u/Tatoes91 Jan 08 '26

It seems that way and all the other items are linear. I didn't find a better weapon till around level 15/16.

1

u/OctagonTrail Jan 08 '26

Yeah I was worried it was totally endgame stuff, but I'm starting to at least approach this power at level 13. Should be able to swap them out soon.

If you play on Very Hard difficulty you have a better chance of getting good loot earlier because they essentially just increased enemy and zone levels with Very Hard. Which is why I really enjoy Very Hard difficulty, loot and combat both much more exciting.

there is a developer dagger with i kinda forget around 300 damage and there is no level limit.

1

u/One_Ad8315 Jan 26 '26

Where?

1

u/Soggy-Werewolf-9833 Jan 29 '26

with this one because it can't be access normally and it's the 2012 reckoning not he re-reckoning.

The Gorhart chest is supposed to be like that.

You equip the gear that you want and sell the rest so you can buy the backpack on one of the town’s merchants. The gear you choose is great for that first area. Have fun!

In this case you found something the RNG gods smiled upon. Enjoy!

u/OctagonTrail Jan 08 '26

This was not the Gorhart chest. This was before Gorhart. And the Gorhart chest has pre-set equipment, not this.

u/Deletedtopic Jan 08 '26

Who's gorhart?

2

u/OctagonTrail Jan 08 '26

Gorhart is the first town.

1

u/Deletedtopic Jan 09 '26

I thought the first town was the gnome tower underground being attacked

Those aren't even close to extremely powerful.

7

u/OctagonTrail Jan 08 '26

They were about 5x as strong as anything else I found when I found them, and at level 10 they're still about 50% stronger than anything else I've found. That lightning damage is ridiculous compared to everything else I've seen on any weapon.

4

u/vhalember Jan 08 '26

They are for level 2.

-4

u/Titansdragon Finesse/Might Jan 08 '26

I disagree.

Enjoyed the game, but wtf are you doing playing it in 2026? There are so many better options.

3

u/OctagonTrail Jan 09 '26

Get a life. This is scratching an itch no other game can quite reach.

Why play chess? It's so old.

2

u/Scrollsy Jan 11 '26

Its a good game with stylized graphics and good writing.... not many better optiona with all the modern "AAA" video games.

Why do YOU play the games YOU choose to play? I'm assuming to have fun right?

Out of curiosity... list a few that you're actually playing.
