Question First playtrough ever. I am going for a stealth/assassin build and I might also include a bit of magic. What divine blessing should I choose?

You mean the patron god? I usually go godless, I believe

I have no clue my friend because every time I play that game no matter what I tell myself I’m gonna be I always end up swinging that glorious hammer for everything I’m worth. Embrace the blunt force trauma. That game has the greatest animations for just beating the shit out of people lol. Edit to say I literally play stealth archers or assassins or rogue types in every other game except this one lol. It’s the one exception to the rule for me.

Hell yeah! Giant club team here! Unga bunga swings, enemies sent flying, and last but not less, the sweet chin music! This weapon has a sweet chin músic super kick! I have a recording with me sending someone flying with a sweet chin music

Dude Kingdoms of Amalur has the complete opposite combat system as Skyrim or Oblivion or any of those and this is not a dis or knock on them at all. But where those games lack the “thud” or “pow” in combat, this game excels at it. When you swing a weapon in Amalur and connect with an enemy, you fuckin connect with that enemy

I go back and forth between Skyrim and this for this very reason.

I mean, on very hard difficulty its just impossible to play any melee weapon except hammer, I really like Illidan blades though, pretty exotic stuff

Lol, for me I keep thinking I'll be sneaky or use swords and cool looking heavy armor..

Then I'm roaming round looking like a dork with my hood cos "That Magic buff tho" with my Chakrams in primary and a Staff in secondary, rolling around like crazy inbetween biffing my attacks from a distance 😆🫠

I LIKE DISTANCE AND ELEMENTAL ATTACKS OKAY?? 😤

Man that sounds exactly like my best friend, when I found out how he played that game I was like whaaaaaat lol. Never even crossed my mind. I was wreck it Ralph

Lol truuue, I might have to try the hammer sometime soon. But yeah the moment I picked up the Chakrams again it was like "Uh... yeah no I'm probably not gonna put these down again, am I?" It's probably the diamond shape of long distance damage you do, plus all Chakrams having elemental damage. If you get a pair that have high enough damage you can make an enemy go night night before they even get close enough to swing at you. Sometimes before anyone in a group take even take a swing lol.

(Sorry for the late response, I always forget that I put reddit on mute then forget I said anything on here 😅😂)

Same I prefer the godless option for the extra exp

Death, always Death. It's just the objective best blessing. 1% 8% crit damage even if you aren't wearing light armor its still the best blessing.

u/Danmartor Sep 25 '25

This, if you'll be using stealth then belén is your deity

3

u/Spraguenator Sep 25 '25

Even if your not no one else has anything that compares to Death. You can run a pure mage and I'd still recommend Death.

Belen, god of death. Critical hit damage is the hardest stat to buff.

And I like to play as Varani for the early +1 Detect Hidden (access hidden stashes for lots more loot at rank 2), eventually you can buy a title that when you enter the room in certain places, they announce you, "Presenting her eminence, Death's Cryptic Hand." They just go really well together.

As far as bonus XP goes, godless makes you level a little bit faster but once you hit the cap of 40, this becomes moot whereas extra damage is always useful. You'll find enough "experience booster" potions that if you just time them right during fights, expecially if you pair with Fateshifting (the key feature of this game) you can more than double your experience from that encounter (much more than a constant passive boost).

When you reach the city of Rathir, go to the Temple of Lyria. There is a pimgrimage quest that gives you "the orison" an always active blessing that I vaguely remember being similar to the patron god bonus from Lyria in character creation. I think its the only such blessing besides those you can turn on and off with the fate cards AKA Destinies.

I remember finding a few Accessories pretty early on that grant bonuses similar to the patron blessing from Mitharu (I think Jottun War Beads +phys damage and +phys resistance and I seem to find them every play through). Including experience boost.

PRO TIP: Hold on to any standard-looking rings or necklaces that boost damage type resistance, I think they start at 5% and cap at 20%. You'll fight a lot of enemies that specialize in a certain damage type, and being able to swap that piece of equipment perceptively takes the edge off. Replace it as you find or buy better stuff (have 1 ring that does 5% poison resist then find a new ring that has 7%, sell the old ring). I'm not sure if resistances stack.

Depends on what you plan to build bro, if you’re gonna be a mage, no point really picking Thyrdon as your patron.

As someone else here said, I normally just snag the exp buff lol picking anything don’t really insanely tip the scales so exp always seems the best, adds up over a good playthrough.

u/DarthAsh18 Sep 25 '25

Not sure what blessing might akd a stealth build but if you’re including magic I suggest Lyria. It cuts down magic cost and gives you a small amount of passive magic regen for the whole game

Godless is always good, but Belen would be your best bet for the increased crit chance/crit damage.

3

u/walksintwilightX1 Finesse/Sorcery Sep 25 '25

Belen is the best for Finesse builds. I chose Lyria for Finesse/Sorcery, but that's because I wanted to be using a lot of magic.

u/BohemianGamer Sep 25 '25

Belen, God of Death is my go to as crit is a hard stat to buff,

Have fun, play around with your build, there really isn’t a perfect way build and most combinations are playable, try different strategies and weapons until you find what feels right for you, don’t worry about trying to be “optimum” its about having fun.

My favorite is Finnise build with just a little magic at the end. I love one shotting creatures with assassination

2

u/WizG1 Sep 25 '25

I usually go godless, its a 10% up boost

Universalist

Thyrdon's Charge

u/Inevitable_Yak4106 Sep 25 '25

Godless for the exp. Ooooh you're gonna have some fun. The assassination animations are fantastic. While you're leveling your stealth, remember to level Detect Hidden, blacksmithing, and sage crafting. You can make some CRAZY powerful weapons. I always liked ice + lightning daggers, then put on envenomed edge, then honed edge. BROKEN combo

2

u/KatheryneBois Sep 25 '25

If you’re really choosing to play as a Stealth Assassin, Belen is the best choice, as with stealth, you have to assure yourself to do the maximum damage possible to 1HKO them, and Belen focus on boosting your crits, so it’s the only logical choice if you really want to commit 100% fully as a Stealth Assassin

u/big-fluffy-giant Sep 25 '25

I always go for godless, because that's what i am, i don't believe in gods

1

u/Dsible663 Sep 25 '25

Stealth/assassin you say? Can't go wrong with the Universalist destiny.

1

u/Winter2k21 Sep 25 '25

Hows might & sorc setups out there?

1

u/ErikFlytalker Sep 25 '25

Go Godless for extra exp.

1

u/PretendRelation7924 Sep 25 '25

My last playthrough I did a shadowcaster (finesse/sorcery) build with faeblades and chakrams and it was awesome. I've gone with a couple different patrons but I usually pick Lyria or Mitharu.

1

u/Kithkanen Sep 25 '25

Just a heads up: Storm Bolt is a spell available in the first tier of Sorcery that benefits from Finesse's Assassin's Art. Sneak attacks from medium to long range. While not necessarily an insta-kill per se, with more points in Assassin's Art and Storm Bolt, the combo is capable of enormous amounts of damage.

EDIT to undo some auto corrections.

It’s been so long since I’ve graced myself with this glory of a game.

If I remember right the XP or Crit buffs (my preferences there)

I usually play a Glass Cannon (Mage) so most of the buffs don’t really “apply” to me

I always go godless for the early xp boost. If you're going assassin though pick the poison boost. Trolls don't like poison

u/matjes003 Sep 25 '25

I don't recommend using daggers. When you chain charge attacks the whole screen flickers white.
