Politics 2026 Election Research Guide- Candidates, Referendums, donations, election information, polling sites,
I've seen a lot of people asking for this information, so I'm stickying it so more people can find it.
Here are some helpful websites to research candidates, donations, election information, websites, polling locations, etc.:
| Website Link | Website Information |
|---|---|
| www.ballotpedia.org | Gives candidates' bio, current/past elections, opponents, campaign themes, finance summary (past elections), website themes, overviews, etc. |
| www.opensecrets.org | Covers past elections and donors, but can be useful for seeing past issues for current candidates |
| www.commoncause.org/find-your-representative | Find your districts' candidates with your address |
| www.pluralpolicy.com/open | find your current legislators |
| www.vote411.org/kansas | election/voting information, deadlines, polling place, upcoming debates, district races built around your address. Shows each candidate by race and party affiliation (Dem/GOP/All candidates for political office, etc). Vote411 is run by the League of Women Voters, so it's super ultra legit. |
| www.bluevoterguide.org/state/kansas | Lists each candidate, provides official endorsements, recommendations, positions, etc. |
| www.sos.ks.gov/elections/county_election_officers.aspx | Official List of Kansas Secretary of State County Election Offices |
| www.fec.gov/data/elections/?cycle=2026&state=KS | Lists Finance Campaign Data on the Federal Election Commission website. Gives information on reviews, donations, loans, individual/party contributions, disbursements, PACs, statistics, disclosure reports, etc. |
Many Kansas county party offices also provide information for their own candidates and local referendums.
One trick is that groups like Americans for Prosperity and similar rightwing organizations will publish their own "scorecards" for each candidate along with their positions and leanings. Generally, the higher the score, the more conservative they tend to be. The lower the score, the more liberal.
Also many candidates have youtube videos and shorts floating around as well - Townhalls, speeches, quick little monologues, discussion points, ads, etc. That can also be helpful in hearing what they say directly.

News On this day in 1964, US civil rights leader Dr Martin Luther King Jnr was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for helping to combat racial inequality through non-violence. King’s dream was that all US citizens would be judged by their personal qualities and not by the colour of their skin.

Douglas County, it’s time.
Early voting starts today in Douglas County. Check your county for their early voting schedule and locations.
I have never seen an early vote this busy, even when I worked as a poll worker in 2020.

Best smalltown Kansas cafes for a weekend road trip?
i spend most weekends driving around Kansas looking for the kind of places that make you want to pull over even if you aren't hungry yet. the last one I found was this little spot in Lindsborg where the owner still handrolls her cinnamon rolls at 5 AM. i drove two hours back the next weekend just to get there before they sold out

Politics Trump Event in Wichita: if you can or cannot go, you can sign up! Freedom! Please join us in the MAGA fling
Most people who get tickets to these events have Trump as their president. Some even worship him. It is said that they just have the right in general to reserve free tickets to see the people who rule over them. And perhaps just maybe, some will not attend even though they have tickets in hand. If you sign up your pet, maybe they don’t allow pets, or aliens from space. We really don’t know what we are supposed to believe day to day.
If you can go, there maybe options to ask questions or voice your opinions to politicians who usually run away from Kansas voters. Trump will be there, Marshall and probably corruption, I mean child/minority abductions, I mean well anyway he will use words to tell his audience: things. And those things may not make any sense, but it will feel so good.
It’s the new way for a lot of us to learn how someone can deface the constitution and not be apprehended by police. Only one person is above the law, and we love that he makes billions off of the office of president. It’s ok because we are poor, and we are rewarded in the next life if we vote for someone as rich as Trump.
According to the GOP, no pedophiles will be present. But many Kansans believe otherwise. Healthcare solutions will not be present as well, nor ideas of a balanced budget. Cheaper prices are for those who don’t vote for Trump! Hah! Take that. “Those” people were wanting cheaper prices and a country heading in a good direction: those ideas will be absent as well at this rally. Cirkjergs speeches are only allowed.
This is why we need real Kansans to be present, so that new ideas can be elected into power.
Good luck and god speed. “America—- fffff yeah!!” 🇺🇸

Discussion Is Wichita really more right leaning than Manhattan, Topeka, Lawrence and KC?
With KS being in the news a lot more for being a toss up state, I've seen several maps now showing Manhattan, Topeka, Lawrence and KC area as blue as usual, but I was surprised to see Wichita is still red. Is the population really that much more conservative there? I lived there for 4 years during college but that was over 10 years ago.
