Competing and Tournaments Are you allowed to use the middle finger in judo?

Like if they try and do a wrist lock on you but it fails are you allowed to flash them a middle finger or will this get you disqualified. Also like mental games like you lean in to fist bump but then give them a middle finger and surprise attack. I know it's not moral but if you really need to win is it strictly against the rules

Competing and Tournaments Are you allowed to fart on your opponent?

Not like as an intentional submission but instead one of those ways you make life really uncomfortable for your opponent like mothers milk or knuckle in throat torture. Alternatively it could also be used to help finish a triangle choke and realistically the thing is how would they even prove you did it unless it was truly loud. I understand this might sound like a joke but it's no secret a big part of the gameplan is making the opponent as uncomfortable as possible and if you can't prove it who's stopping you. Plus how can you prove it's intentional. I'm just wondering if farting is like an instant DQ or more like a generally frowned upon but surprisingly effective method (sorry!). Of course here I am talking tournament only since although I'm 99% sure it would work it's one of those things you don't do against your teammates. Anyway let me know if this is actually legal or not because on one hand I don't see why it would be if crushing me between your sweaty bollocks isn't but on the other hand it might be to good to be true

Beginner Returning to practice after hitting head

Pretty much the title. During randori I messed up my ukemi and ended up hitting my head on the mat. It was pretty low velocity, and I haven’t been experiencing any concussion symptoms, but was wondering what the protocol should be for something like this

General Training New judo dojo does 0 randori

I joined a new judo dojo after moving and it’s judo + Japanese jiu jitsu dojo and they do 0 randori. It’s all just uchikomis, drilling techniques and that’s it. I told them I’m a green belt in usjf and then they told me that’s orange in usja, so I guess now I’m an orange belt. They then told me to memorize katas and technique names and practice choreograph motions. My old judo gym used to do more randori. Does it make sense to continue at this gym if they don’t do randori? The next dojo is 48 minutes away and I just don’t have the energy to switch dojos now. I don’t think they compete in Shia. I think it’s all katas

Beginner What do you think about this ISN entry? (Combo with Kouchi Makikomi)

Hi guys!

Short story: I want to know that do you guys think about this entry of Ippon Seoi Nage. It's not the traidtional and it's not the koga split hip neither.

Long story:

Im an 86kg yellow belt, two years of experience with 9months of a broken ACL (I was allowed to return in May).

When we do uchi komi our Sensei told us 20 arm throws, 20 ashi waza, 20 etc. I usually focus on Koshi Guruma, Ouchi Gari and Osoto Gari. Can I throw with them in Randori? Almost never.

But it seems like I have a good kouchi makikomi (maybe because of my young years in rugby) black belts told me to use it even more. Kouchi makikomi and right side sasae are the two throws I can confident use in randori.

But I don't want a throw where I end in the floor to be my tokui waza, and also think that a good Ippon Seoi Nage will do a great combo. Especially this variation that you can go either kouchi or ISN until the last minute depending on Uke's reaction (I use kouchi when they stomp with their front foot and tries to shift their weight forward after I make a strong pull).

Thanks.

Competing and Tournaments Tips on competition loss (right video!)

Hi guys,

After some very good feedback on the other video where I mistakenly uploaded the match I won, I ask for your feedback again on the one I actually lost.

I'm white, this is a back-to-back match after the first one and the opponent was clearly superior, but would like to know what I could have done differently to put up a better fight.

Thanks.

General Training Kinda lost on RvR randori

So I have been trying to improve at Randori for a while now and it just isn't getting sny better. I cannot even turn in for throws and am always put into a situation where I have to attempt left side throws/counters or just defend because the opponent is turned into me.

Should I give up and just become a lefty at this point? I feel it's the only way I'll be able to get attacks in lol. I'm fairly decent at Ouchi Gari so I could probably drill left sided Ouchi. If I wasn't so horrible at Uchi mata, I would have probably made the switch already.

I'm starting to get annoyed that I still can't attack after several years and the fact that I'm a browm belt makes it a lot worse :/.

Of course, I'm more used to fighting from right side, but do yoy guys think it's worth switching to left because most people at my gym are righties? I would abandon my morote seoi nage and tai otoshi, but not like I could hit those in randori anyways.

Getting tired of randori sessions where I don't get a single attack in lol

General Training What do you guys do to get your cardio back really fast after getting sick or taking a break?

I've found that doing bodyweight exercises like pullups and dips has helped somehow but want to hear what you guys have to say because this is always a pain point for me.
