Didn't this poor kid get all of his money fleeced too?

Awful. This sucks.

What? Never heard about that.

Sorry for the copy paste job but it's true :(

RJ Mitte (who played Walter White Jr. on Breaking Bad) did not become wealthy from the show and actually ended up with severe financial losses and debt due to a combination of lower early-season pay, high expenses, and major fraud. [1, 2, 3]

Earnings and Financial Breakdown

  • Per-Episode Pay: Mitte reportedly earned around $8,000 to $25,000 per episode (with estimates ranging up to roughly $30,000 per episode in later seasons), significantly less than adult lead co-stars like Bryan Cranston or Aaron Paul.
  • Reinvestment and Costs: He stated that much of his earnings went into maintaining his team, covering career overhead, and reinvesting in his business operations.
  • Manager Fraud & Tax Debt: A corrupt business manager siphoned off funds meant for IRS tax payments over a five-year period while providing him with fake tax filings. Because taxpayers remain legally responsible for owed taxes despite manager fraud, Mitte accumulated massive back taxes with 17% compound interest—ultimately paying out more in taxes and debt than he netted from the entire run of the series, which took him 10 years to resolve. [1, 2, 3, 4]

I mean, he did way, way way less work that Bryan or Aaron so I feel like that’s not a fair comparison.

Regardless, social safety nets and help should be way better. I’m so so sad thinking about how he must have felt. As someone so low right now I often think of how horrifying it is the feel like this and, well, if this is what people feel before the commit and how I wish I could take away their fear.

He was paid well for what he did, no doubt, but someone took all of his tax money, and our government charged him 17 percent interest.

I would be surprised if this didn't play into his decision to end his life. It's hard, as an actor, to not get type cast. His disability probably put him in a lot of roles that were beneath him as an artist. He had a tough life, despite the breaking bad success.

Yes surely he did. I never understood why someone would react to a shitty situation (like losing a job or money or something) with suicide like, if they had options, if they didn’t ask for help, but now I fear it’s that they are feeling like how I feel, horrified at their perception of reality, and then the shitty straw breaks the shitty back. Still, I know it’s weird but I know they say sometimes before people commit they are actually happy and relieved and high because they know their suffering will end soon and it’s in their control and that makes a lot more sense to me. I don’t even know how bad suicide is anyway but surely I am happier with the thought that someone is relieved by it and not, in the depths of despair. That idea is horrifying and I hate it and I wish we could save each other… that someone would save us.

Yeah. I’ve never been a depressed person, but the last two years have really hurt me. Just everything from money to relationships. I can much easier see how people make the choice to end it.

Not saying I would, I’ve got kids and they’d be devastated. But goddamn it’s clearer to me now.

It hurts huh. The knowing hurts.

2

u/HippoRun23 1d ago

The knowing def hurts. Hang in there, stranger.

That is absolutely fucking horrible.

Men - please don’t go through things alone and call your friends.

Mental health is no joke and it’s the leading cause of death for men.

Sad news.

-4

u/CryCommon975 2d ago

Suicide is not the leading cause of death for men, it's not even in the top 5. It's a serious issue but spreading false information doesn't help.

4

u/Opposite-Peanut-8812 2d ago

It IS the biggest killer for men under the age of 50….!

-3

u/Premodice9911 2d ago

Going thru things alone builds character tho… everybody isnt as weak as this little coward of a man.

Not to turn this into a gender thing, but you kinda started it:

  • Women have a much higher degree of diagnosed mental health issues, as well as a higher degree of suicide attempts.
  • Men are more successful in actually committing suicides, but they're not always due to mental health issues, and not even close to being the leading cause of death - it's still heart attacks and cancer for both genders.

2

u/HippoRun23 2d ago

To point one, is that maybe because women are more likely to seek help?

1

u/TScottFitzgerald 20h ago

It's one factor but I recommend looking more into the research over speculating.

0

u/Opposite-Peanut-8812 2d ago

Women have a higher degree of diagnosed mental health because woman are more likely to speak out and seek help, whereas men do not.

They’re not comparable because nowhere near the same amount of people seek help.

If men sought help then there would be a higher percentage of men diagnosed than women.

It’s important to understand the metrics before using them as evidence toward something…

1

u/TScottFitzgerald 20h ago

Yes, it's important to understand the research which you didn't, you're just speculating. Underdiagnosed mental issues in men is just one factor but there are inherent differences in mental health issues due to biology. This isn't a battle, we should understand both men's and women's issues if we really care.

There's nothing to "go" really, I was just pointing out it affects everyone since narratives are constantly being pushed online. Why is it so hard to just band together and deal with it together?

1

u/therealdev134 1d ago

It’s not. But you don’t have to go out of your way to make it weird.

0

u/TScottFitzgerald 1d ago

...what's weird about pointing out basic statistics that should be non controversial in any normal community?

1

u/therealdev134 1d ago

You should resist the urge to “BUT WHAT ABOUT” when someone is talking about something specific.

0

u/TScottFitzgerald 1d ago

No it wasn't, it was flat out wrong. It's not a whataboutism to correct something that's incorrect. I'm not really engaging with you anymore if you can't bother reading.

2

u/International-Soil73 2d ago

Damn, that's wild.. I started the series..

0

u/Davidx91 2d ago

So it’s your fault… /s

R.I.P Flynn

It probably had to do with society and him being disabled. As someone with a hidden disability many people are just cruel as fuck.

2

u/Frosty_Rule_5408 2d ago

Just speculating but he seemed to be engaged and would post a tribute birthday post to her on her bday. But this month was her bday and he didn’t post anything about her and her social is deleted. Something seems off about that

-2

u/SkyPersonal5642 2d ago

He has been living with that disability for 34 years, I doubt he waited until now to say he had enough...

3

u/MagReg2020 2d ago

This is not a smart thing to say.

0

u/SkyPersonal5642 2d ago

Neither is that he most likely killed himself because of his disability...

3

u/Thagreatone92 2d ago

You have no idea what it means to be truly disabled and i pray you never get the chance to. Its never ending and brutal you live with it day in and day out until you die. Depending on your condition as you age it gets worse for you sometimes both physically and mentally.

3

u/ILike2Argue_ 2d ago

Nor should you be making guesses about a recently deceased guy on what you believe could've been the cause. Let's just pay our respects and wait for more information

1

u/Generally_Confused1 2d ago

Like the joker said in the killing joke, "all it takes is one bad day"

0

u/sevennotsogoodapples 2d ago

Wait are we doing the pain/suffering Olympics now?

0

u/timmyx2times 2d ago

No, it didn’t. One of his financial managers wasn’t taking care of his finances or paying the taxes he was supposed to.

1

u/Opposite-Peanut-8812 2d ago

That happened decades ago…

0

u/timmyx2times 2d ago

Well that still can influence someone’s mental health so I don’t see your point.

1

u/Thagreatone92 2d ago

We are both speculating until we get the answer.

1

u/TomatoSilly1683 2d ago

Yeah but you just made it pretty clear your issue atleast 💀😂

1

u/Decent_Citron_7480 2d ago

Wow. That is sad news. Damn, bothers me to hear this.

1

u/D-redditAvenger 2d ago

So damn tragic. If they had made a series about Walt Jr. I would have watched the hell out of it. Why couldn't the press have amplified that all his money was stolen instead of all the stupid stuff they cover. The support he would have gotten.

1

u/limbogumbo 2d ago

Pity his poor fiancee.

1

u/rndmxcsmmr 2d ago

Am I the only one that wonders how’d they do it when they read “died by suicide”

1

u/Disastrous-Host604 2d ago

Damn bro. I remember he became a meme, the internet is cruel. RIP

2

Too soon bud... Read the room.

0

u/Opposite-Peanut-8812 2d ago

It’s not just too soon. It shouldn’t be ever fucking done in the first place!!!

This is just as bad as racism. Or homophobia.

Why is it okay to abuse disabled people like this? Why isn’t it treated just as bad as racism??

1

u/SkyPersonal5642 2d ago

Who said it was okay to abuse disabled people?

1

u/FindingAwake 2d ago

Dude, come on... I laughed when it came out but they guy just died...

0

u/highfrequencies11 2d ago

I just dont get the humor after such devastating news. Some of yall automatically tap into some low vibrational frequencies. No compassion at all. smh
