PSA: There are people walking around downtown and other places in JC recording you in your visual blindspots.

People are learning on tik tok and youtube to watch peoples necks and eyeballs to record them while they arent looking. Its not just when your back is turned, they will get close and time raising their phone to record you to the movements of your pupils and neck. They will also run small tests to check the range of your peripheral vision to know what you range of sight. If you look around quickly and notice someone with their phone slightly raised in your direction chances are they were tracking your eyeballs and/or neck to record you without you seeing them.

🚴 🚙 food delivery 🚴 🚗 Why doesn’t Jersey City have Amazon Groceries

We used to have the Amazon Groceries available that is included in Amazon Prime membership, where we could buy groceries like fresh veggies, dairy, meat, delivered same day for free. But they are no longer available now and are only available in Whole Foods which requires an additional subscription fee to get free delivery. When I tried changing my addresses to other cities, I found that Amazon Groceries are still available in all those places I checked. We rely on food delivery a lot and have to pay the additional WH subscription fee. Any idea why Prime Groceries no longer works?

NJ transit buses SUCK!!!

Every morning the 80s bus comes down west side around 6:19-6:23am. I waited and waited the stop I'd said unavailable "no surprise" 15 buses go the opposite way up west side avenue three buses right behind each other one bus was completely empty... After finally walking to work and arriving late I counted sixteen busses mostly 80s and maybe one or two no.9 buses. Nothing going down west side to where I needed to go at all....am I the only person that noticed they've gotten much worse lately? There should be a Bus every 10 minutes minimum.....

Nighttime Yard Work

This is hyper-specific and really just venting, but someone on my block is having a full yard cleaning done right now at 8:30pm…I can hear/smell a mower, weed whacker and leaf blower all going at once. Not the end of the world but weird! No one even has that big of a yard.

🕵🏻‍♂️News 🕵🏻‍♂️ Everton grand opening is today

Following the Shoprite opening, Everton is now fully open. And the Modcop location opening is aiming for mid 2027. Not sure about the Japanese restaurant.

(also yes I know the rent prices are high, but these are market rates for new "luxury" buildings downtown, and no you cannot find similar amenities for these prices in Manhattan. Brooklyn/LIC yes).

Where does everyone order genuinely good bar be cue. Hamilton pork has always been a disappointment and I’m craving some good bar be cue for the evening. Not really sure where else to look for stuff that’s not just slapped together with heavy candy sweet sauce. Any recs are appreciated!

Disputing speeding ticket

Hi guys, I'd appreciate some help here. I got a $106 ticket for driving 41mph in a 25mph zone and another $86 ticket for careless driving. I was going downhill and didn't realise how fast I was going.

I told the officer I was surprised I got pulled over. He relayed to me why. He gave me my tickets and advised me to plead "not guilty."

I don't want the extra points. For those of you that have been to court for speeding tickets in Jersey City, what would you advise?

Hey everyone! I’m looking to move to the Heights near Summit Ave (near Dulce de Leche!) but I’m worried about parking in this area… can anyone provide insight? I read about Municipal Lot 3 and 49 but is it difficult to find parking there?

How much has JSQ changed since 2022-2023

Hi everyone, I used to live in Journal Square from 2022-2023 around Newkirk St. Living there wasn't really the best experience for me our apartment was terrible managed, there were homeless people everywhere that would just nag you, ambulances would come almost every night around my area so I wouldn't be able to sleep cause of the sirens, it's just everytime I would go out there something would just happen that would ruin my day, my roommate got SA'd there.... So yeah living there sucked and I ended up moving back home

But I wanna move back out to Jersey City again in the coming months, and while I wanna move downtown part of me is still considering JSQ again. I just feel like the area has changed a lot since I last lived there even from what i've seen in the few instances that i've been there. But i'm not entirely sold on it tbh.

What do you guys think? Can anyone that's familiar with JSQ offer any insight? I'd really appreciate it.

Downtown Dads Group

Hi everyone, my wife and I live in Paulus Hook and are expecting our first child in just a few weeks. I’m hoping to make friends with other young dads/families in the area. Are there any local dad groups for this?

I’ve seen the drama around JC mom groups. Are there any new ones local to downtown?

Anyone living in a south-facing apartment at Sable? How’s the construction noise?

I toured Sable and really liked the building and views. I’m considering a south-facing 1BR, but the construction on that side is my biggest concern, especially since I work from home.
For anyone living there: how noticeable is it inside with the windows closed? What time does it usually start, and is it mostly noise or do you feel vibrations too? Would love to hear what floor you’re on and whether you’d choose the same exposure again.

Recommendations Newport Rentals - PSW/PSE

Hi All,

I am moving to JC as I stay in Princeton for easy commute to work in NYC. I am looking for apartment recommendations at Newport Rentals especially PSW or PSE as they seem to be in budget.

Any recent update on how is the roach isssue? Is there any referral or offer that can help me bring down the rent?
Should I prefer top floor apartments to avoid roach issue or it’s the same on all floors

Would appreciate any advice or recommendation current residents can share? Please help this friend in need 🙏

Morris Canal Park Dogs

As a dog owner myself, I love seeing so many dogs enjoying the wonderful park we’re lucky to have in our neighborhood. However, over the past couple of weeks, it’s become increasingly difficult to walk my leashed dog due to the growing number of off-leash dogs. My dog loves other dogs, but after some scary experiences with off-leash dogs, we no longer allow him to interact with unfamiliar dogs in public. Having unleashed dogs throughout the park that do not have reliable recall has really impacted our ability to enjoy the park and I have noticed it with other leashed dogs/owners as well.

By no means do I want to prevent dogs from meeting up with their doggy friends and I enjoy seeing other dogs play together. In the past this has not been an issue as many off-leash dogs and their owners gathered toward the top of the park, which allowed me to comfortably walk my dog along the perimeter and give us space.

Just a friendly reminder to please be considerate of those walking leashed dogs and anyone who may be uncomfortable with unfamiliar dogs approaching them. We all want to enjoy our beloved park, and being mindful of one another helps keep it a safe and welcoming space for everyone.
