Game I just released a chill game about vacuuming

Hi! I'm JosNun, and I released my game Vacuum Simulator on itch.io this week.

It started building this because vacuuming is satisfying. It's one of those few chores where you clearly get to see your progress as you are getting it done. I pitched the idea to my wife and she thought it was a terrible idea, so naturally I built a prototype, which I low-key got addicted to.

In the game, Grandma Dot is retiring and leaves you her cleaning business. You pick jobs off her corkboard and clean people's houses at your own pace, while the cord catches on table legs and the dustbin loses suction as it fills up. Later on you get bigger homes, more vacuums, and a little crew of robot vacuums that bump into everything.

The demo is free and lets you play the first part of the game. You can also download it for Mac, Windows or Linux, and if you decide you want more, you can transfer your progress to the full game.

Web Testing Itch.io Web games

Hey everyone! 👋

I am looking to test some Itch.io games that can be played directly in the browser!

I'll spend around 5–30 minutes playing each game, depending on how fun it is for me, and give you completely honest feedback. I can help identify bugs, gameplay issues, confusing UI, or anything else that could be improved, if you want me to look at anything specific just write it in the comments!

You dont have to test anything in return. Im just happy to help out other developers!

Drop your game link in the comments and I'll check it out when I can! 😊

Edit: Will be testing these games tomorrow, going to sleep in a few minutes

Discussion Any YouTubers or streamers who play and review early indie games on itch.io?

Hey everyone!

Do you know any YouTubers, Twitch streamers, or other content creators who play and review early-stage indie games, alphas, or demos on itch.io?

Have you ever reached out to any of them and actually received feedback or gotten your game featured? If so, I'd love to hear your experiences and recommendations!

As indie developers, we'd love to connect with creators like these to get feedback, introduce our games to new players, and hopefully provide some interesting content for their channels too.

And if you're a content creator who makes this kind of content yourself, feel free to share your channel here as well! We'd love to check it out.

Thanks in advance!

We finally released our little drawing game on itch.io! 🎉

Hey everyone!

We finally released our game OneLiner on itch.io! 🎉

It's a multiplayer drawing and guessing game where you and your friends try to draw and guess words together. The catch is that each player can only draw one continuous line.

As you can imagine, things don't always go as planned 😅

You can play for free right in your browser, on both PC and mobile. There's also a local mode where you can just pass one phone around and play together!

We're really happy to finally share it with you!

If you give it a try, we'd love to hear what you think. Any feedback, ideas, or suggestions would help us make the game better.

Thanks, and hope you have fun! ❤️

🎮 Play on itch.io: https://spalax-interactive.itch.io/oneliner

Questions This is our first game and we have some questions

Post image
• Upvotes

We released a demo for our game in itchio about two months ago. Because it's our first project we don't have anything to compare it to so we'd appreciate perspective from people who have shipped a few games before.

Almost all plays and downloads were concentrated in a three week window. We understand a spike followed by a decay is normal so we are now worried about that part. A few things we are less sure about:

  • We are currently at 644 weekly impressions with a 1.24% CTR. Is that typical for itch? or is it a sign our thumbnail isn’t working or needs to be changed? Our "view to play" rate is around 78%, so the page itself seems fine once people land on it.
  • Has anyone managed a second wave on itch? Did it come from updates, dev logs or outside channels?
  • Browser plays seem to count game loads, not actual playtime. What do you use to measure retention in web builds?
  • We have 42 collections against 17 ratings. Do you treat collections as a meaningful interest signal, or is it noise?

Any benchmarks or experience appreciated. Thanks.

I created my own browser game. Over time, I ended up going for a cozy city-noir pixel art style.

It's a multiplayer life sim where you create your own story. Build a career, start a family, raise children, or take a darker path into crime. It's all up to you!

SneakyNecro - Feedback appreciated

Post image

https://rackhim.itch.io/sneaky-necro (Browser based, no download)

English (Deutsch weiter unten):

https://youtu.be/vrqyXaIAd8Y?si=IvJbtGg6ZGOZRqlF (Trailer english)

Raise zombies, destroy settlements, raise their bodies, too, and destroy even more. All to appease your god. You can walk freely around as a friend in your normal village clothes or change into your necromancer robes, to do sinnister things, like raising undead or backstabbing villagers. You cannot heal, you cannot fight. Always have some trusty zombies at your side.

Find 2 secret endings, raise all the different undead, unlock special upgrades for the next run through soulcrystals.

I created this game to learn about the Godot engine and the graphics are all I can create and are here to stay, for now. If you have any feedback, which is greatly appreciated, please do not jugde the graphics too harshly 😅.

I will add some more systems to complete the gameplay loop in the coming weeks.

Deutsch:

(Das Spiel kann jederzeit mit F2 von Englisch auf Deutsch und umgekehrt gestellt werden)

https://youtu.be/V9U366EWVSo?si=fKyH4wgtBwWBoZMP (Trailer Deutsch)

Habe also immer ein paar deiner Zombies an deiner Seite.

Questions Could anyone please help me get unstuck with learning Playmaker and Unity?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hi everyone,

My name is Felicia. I’m a Black trans aspiring indie game developer, and I’m reaching out to this community because I could really use some perspective and advice.

For a long time, I’ve found myself pulled back and forth between making short films and developing video games. While I love storytelling, game development feels like the medium I truly want to focus on it’s more affordable, accessible, and gives me the independence to create without constantly needing to coordinate huge production teams or ask for outside help.

However, I’ve hit a real roadblock with the actual development process. Right now, I’m using Unity paired with the Playmaker plugin. Because I haven't gone through a structured, end-to-end learning process for Playmaker, I’ve been diving straight into building specific mechanics as they pop into my head. I’ll try to use AI or ask around for step-by-step instructions on how to do one very specific thing (@"How do I make X do Y when Z happens?").

My mind tends to focus on building one single specific mechanic or feature at a time rather than looking at the broader system. Because I’m jumping straight into implementation without fully understanding how Playmaker’s state machines work under the hood, I keep getting stuck or feeling lost.

My friend and mentor, Terry Vellmann (developer of Sludge Life), gave me great initial advice about Playmaker's potential, but I realized I was constantly coming back to him asking for hyper-specific step-by-step fixes rather than building foundational knowledge. I don't want to burn out my mentor or bug him with endless quick-fix questions, but I genuinely love this medium and want to get unstuck.

My questions for the group:

  1. How did you move from asking "How do I build this one specific feature?" to actually understanding how your engine/visual scripting tools work as a complete system?

  2. Are there specific Playmaker tutorials, courses, or mental frameworks that helped you learn how to think in State Machines rather than just copying steps?

  3. How do you structure your learning when your brain wants to dive straight into making features instead of doing "boring" tutorials?

I’m really eager to learn and grow, and any advice, resource recommendations, or words of wisdom would mean the world to me. Thank you so much for reading!

Thanks!.
Felicia

P.s.

The video that you see attached to this post is of me documenting myself attempting to make a very micro basic game titled “Too Much Traffic Cones, Not Enough Time”.It’s about a man trying to see how many cones can he collect while running from the cops while also being on a timer. Btw the main character is a drawing of me in my early 20s.

OS-Z Version 1.8.1 Released: A New Hardware Chapter for Jean-Héon

Post image
• Upvotes

OS-Z version 1.8.1 marks a major turning point in the history of Jean-Héon. For the very first time, software from our company is expanding to support three new hardware architectures on Linux: RISC-V, LoongArch, and PowerPC.

This update represents far more than a mere technical evolution. It signals our commitment to exploring new hardware horizons and preparing for a future beyond the currently dominant x86 and ARM architectures.

🌐 RISC-V: Paving the Way for the Post-x86 and Post-ARM Era

OS-Z becomes the first Jean-Héon software to support the RISC-V architecture. RISC-V is to hardware what Linux is to operating systems: an open instruction set architecture that represents a promising path for the future of computing.

We undertook the porting of OS-Z to this architecture with a long-term perspective: to explore the possibilities offered by alternative platforms and to help prepare for a computing future less dependent on the x86 and ARM ecosystems.

There is still a long road ahead, but we believe that architectural diversification is a sound approach for the years to come.

🇨🇳 LoongArch: Opening Up New Horizons

We have also ported OS-Z to LoongArch64, an architecture associated with the Chinese computing ecosystem.

This initiative broadens the hardware horizons of OS-Z and allows us to explore an additional architectural environment, moving beyond the platforms traditionally favored by the industry.

🖥️ PowerPC: Because You Never Know! 🤷‍♂️

Finally, OS-Z is arriving on Linux for the PowerPC 64 (ppc64) architecture.

Why? Because you never know!

After all, maybe one day MrBeast will decide to test our games and software in a video titled:"Gaming on a $50,000 IBM server!"*

MrBeast, if you're reading this, we actually have a PowerPC port for you to test! 👀

Okay, fair enough we admit that’s not exactly the most likely scenario. 😂

But who knows? Computing sometimes holds surprises, and we prefer to keep the door open to the most unexpected possibilities!

🔭 Jean-Héon: A bright future

With version 1.8.1 of OS-Z, Jean-Héon takes another step forward in its commitment to hardware openness.

RISC-V, LoongArch, and PowerPC represent three new avenues for our software to explore. This evolution reflects our desire not to limit our horizons to a single processor type or computing ecosystem.

The post-x86 and post-ARM eras won't be built overnight. However, we want to start exploring these possibilities today.

The future of computing could be more diverse, more open, and more surprising than we imagine.

And at Jean-Héon, we fully intend to explore that future one architecture at a time.

TO INFINITY AND BEYOND! 🚀
