Discussion My Personal Studio Album Tier List (and reasons for placements)
Masterpieces:
- Brave New World: My first Maiden album, consistently brilliant all the way through, maybe a slight falter at Mercenary. My standouts for this album are: The Wicker Man, Brave New World, Dream of Mirrors, and Out of the Silent Planet.
- Somewhere In Time: I really like the distinctive sound this one has, feeling particularly energetic compared to other albums... except for Alexander the Great, which is my personal low point for the album. My standouts for this album are: Caught Somewhere In Time, Wasted Years, Heaven Can Wait, and Deja Vu.
Great Albums: (everything between Powerslave and Virtual XI could be in any order)
- Powerslave: Nothing against it, just not as good as BNW and SIT, although I find that some of the latter half can blend together a bit, and I'm not too keen on Losfer Words. My standouts for this album are: Aces High, Two Minutes To Midnight, Powerslave, and Rime of the Ancient Mariner (very unique, I know)
- Iron Maiden: Another energetic one, feeling similar, yet so different to later albums, my main issue here is that most of it isn't all to memorable to me, but the memorable stuff is really memorable. My standouts for this album are: Prowler, Running Free, Phantom of the Opera, and Iron Maiden.
- Number of the Beast: Bruce's first album, the one that really put them on the map, I see this one in a similar vein to Powerslave: I enjoy it, just not as much as BNW and SIT. My low point here is 22 Acacia Avenue, just because I'm not all to fond of the themeing. My standouts for this album are: Childeren of the Damned, Number of the Beast, Run to the Hills, and Hallowed Be Thy Name (again, very original)
- Book of Souls: The big boy, this album often tends to lean towards the operatic side of Bruce's voice, making it very distinctive. My main issue here is that the songs often feel a bit too long, and that there are fewer I specifically seek out to listen to. My standouts for this album are: Speed of Light, Book of Souls, Death or Glory, and Empire of the Clouds.
- A Matter of Life and Death: My second Maiden album, it has some really high highs, but it can tend to drag on at times, and some songs feel like they have a lot more potential. My standouts for this album are: Different World, These Colours Don't Run, Lord of Light, and For the Greater Good of God.
- Seventh Son of a Seventh Son: I'm aware this is a favourite of many, but I find that it also falls foul of blending together for me. My standouts for this album are: The Evil That Men Do, Can I Play With Madness, Seventh Son of a Seventh Son, and Only the Good Die Young.
- Virtual XI: I'm sure this is a very atypical placement, and it would've been ranked higher if not for one key issue: the lyrics on this album are very repetetive, which means I couldn't justify ranking it any higher, even though its the signature of the album. My low point here is Como Estais Amigos, a song that just doesn't really fit with the rest. My standouts for this album are: The Angel and the Gambler, Lightining Strikes Twice, When Two Worlds Collide, and Don't Look to the Eyes of a Stranger.
Good:
- Dance of Death: This one hurt, as one of my top-5 all timers is on this album, but even though the first half is absolutely amazing, it takes a nosedive after the title track, with the low point being Age of Innocence, a song that I just plain old don't like. My standouts for this album are: Wildest Dreams, Rainmaker, No More Lies, and Dance of Death (the afforementioned all-timer)
- Fear of the Dark: This one is very black and white for me; I remember my standouts very well, but I remember basically nothing about the rest of the album, so I don't really have a definitive low point for this one. My standouts for this album are: Be Quick or Be Dead, Afraid to Shoot Strangers, Wasting Love, and Fear of the Dark.
- Senjutsu: This placement is subject to change, as I haven't listened through this one much, but I find it to be a bit too drawn out, but again, the good bits are really good. My standouts for this album are: The Writing on the Wall, Stratego, and The Time Machine (I don't have a 4th standout here due to sheer unfamiliarity with the album)
There's better:
- No Prayer For the Dying: Similar situation to FotD, but there's fewer songs I remember, so it must logically be worse. My standouts for this album are: Holy Smoke, Hooks In You, and Bring Your Daughter to the Slaughter.
- The Final Frontier: This one's interesting, as even though there are good bits in all of the songs, I'd say that most of the songs are not good enough to stand on their own (apart from my standouts), and the whole album is kind of a slog to get through. My standouts for this album are: El Dorado and The Man Who Would Be King.
Meh:
- Killers: Despite listening through this album multiple times throughout the last month, I don't remember a single thing about it, and I think that speaks for itself. I have no feelings for or against this album, purely neutral. No standouts here.
- Piece of Mind: Now I know this placement is a hot take, but I really don't like Piece of Mind, because I find it gets boring and is actually difficult to get all the way through. Realistically, this and Killers can be either way round, as I actually have standouts for this one. My standouts for this album are: Revelations, Flight of Icarus, and The Trooper.
- X Factor: Hoooo boy... X Factor, I only liked one song on this album (and I really like it), the rest of the album I actively disliked to the point where I had to take breaks while listening to this album to listen to other songs. The standout from this album?: Man on the Edge.
P.S. This list is heavily based on my opinion, if you disagree, that's fine, because if everyone agreed on everything, the world would be a boring place.

Make a great setlist using only Reunion era material.
Kinda like most of the 2010 leg of the Final Frontier tour.

Discussion The Final Frontier is as close to an A+ as a modern Maiden can get.
I'm always really surprised that I don't see this album loved more.
I truly think it's one of their best albums in their entire discography.
It's got a great mix of different types of songs and it feels highly inspired throughout.
It never outstays its welcome for me and the whole thing just feels inspired.
Plus I think it has the best sonics of any of the reunion albums by far, aside from AMOLAD. It actually sounds good.
Isle of Avalon
El Dorado
Starblind
The Talisman
The Man Who Would Be King
Where the Wild Wind Blows
Man, those are some KILLER tracks. A number of them actually give me '80s Maiden vibes for real, meaning I could hear them slotted into, say, Powerslave or something
I just wanted to spread some love for this album because I feel like it is always looked over and I'm never sure why.
El Dorado, shit that should be a setlist staple.....

Just saw iron maiden live at Bogota and they exceeded all of my expectations
Im in my thirties and as someone born on the late 90s the first metal bands that i heard where linkin park, wich is my favourite, SOAD, Static X, etc. and even thought i heard the classic like maiden, sabbath and judast priest i just knew some of their songs and never sat trough a whole album.
I live in venezuela so i never thought of actually going to a concert in my lifetime however i was lucky enough to see system and linkin park last year, 2 of my favourite bands then i saw that maiden was going to bogota this year, and thought about my favourite songs, hallowed be thy name, wasted years, The number of the beast and fear of the dark, saw that they will probably play all of them and decided to buy a VIP ticket.
My god, how did i slept on this band for so long?, i cannot believe bruce dickinson has 68 years the energy he has is incredible, the concert was so amazing, i now want to listen to all of maiden albums to know wich other geams i have missed out, the best concert i have seen in my life and i hope i get the chance to see them live again

Blaze at Bristol Exchange
Seeing Blaze tonight at the Bristol Exhange, was just passing the venue as I was on the way to get something to eat before the gig and he was stood at the bar in the window! Went in for a quick picture and chat.

Paris/Eddfest recording
Anyone know when the video and album is dropping? How long had the wait been on earlier live albums? Really eager for it

Fan Artwork Free hand
Drew this when I was 20. Tacked my "Killers" shirt on the wall and drew it out free hand. Still one of my favorites.
