He was, and is, the owner of Kiyomura Corporation, which runs the Sushi Zanmai chain across Japan. In Tokyo he is known as the Tuna King, because every January he buys the most expensive fish at the first auction of the year at the central market.

Widely dubbed as the "Asia's loneliest redwood tree", hidden in Tangmarg, Kashmir, stands a giant sequoia — a tree native to California, thousands of miles away from the Himalayas.
It's located at Yarikha field station of CSIR-IIIM, near the road to Gulmarg. It has been documented in botanical literature since at least 1975, and is widely described as Asia’s lone giant sequoia. The tree is estimated to be 80-90 years old and is thought to be planted in British colonial times, possibly by British officials. It's claimed to be the only Sequoia tree in whole of Asia.
Giant sequoias are among the most massive trees on Earth. In their native California, some have survived for thousands of years and grown to astonishing sizes. This one, far from its natural habitat, stands roughly 20–25 metres tall.
What makes its story even more interesting is that, despite producing cones, attempts to grow new trees from it have reportedly struggled. For all we know, this solitary specimen may be a remnant of a planting experiment whose original story has been lost to time.
