📜Travel Story Had an unexpected medical emergency on an overnight train, and Indian Railways genuinely surprised me with how responsive they were.
I just wanted to share a positive experience with Indian Railways because I honestly didn’t expect things to work out this well.
I am currently travelling on an overnight train (Kaveri express) , the silicone tip of my wireless earbud got stuck inside my left ear. I initially thought I could manage it myself, but I accidentally pushed it further in while trying to remove it. I started experiencing a blocked sensation and mild burning, and naturally, I got worried.
I contacted railway helpline 139 and raised an emergency request. They called me back and asked whether I needed an ambulance. Eventually, railway staff and RPF got involved, and arrangements were made for a doctor to meet my train at Jolarpettai.
The doctor examined my ear and removed the silicone tip effortlessly, without causing any pain. He also checked for bleeding afterwards.
What genuinely surprised me was the responsiveness. I was on a moving train in the middle of the night, worried about and whether I’d have to abandon my journey.
Instead of being left to figure everything out myself, people took my concern seriously and helped coordinate medical assistance.
I’m not saying every experience will be the same, and I’m sure the system has its challenges. But tonight, when I genuinely needed help, the railway staff and medical team came through for me.
We often hear complaints about public services, and many of them may be justified. But I think positive experiences deserve to be shared, too.
And grateful for experience as it was fun but thankfully didn’t turn serious.
