Is a mandatory % fee on all meals, every day, no matter the type of payment legal?

Doesn't this contravene the law, or am I misunderstanding something?

For clarity, the image says "A 1.2% hospitality service charge applies to all accounts. This charge contributes towards the costs associated with providing our hospitality services."

There's also a 10% surcharge but that's explicitly only for Sundays and public holidays, and that's in line with guidelines. However, the 1.2% charge applies every day, to all payment methods, and my understanding is that is not permissible.

Beautiful weekend alert!

It's supposed to a be a beautiful, warm, blue sky weekend. Hobart at its best!

What's the best thing to do in Hobart and surrounds when the weather is great?

I'm thinking maybe a drive up the east coast with my family, but would love to hear other suggestions!

Question for the over-60s of Hobart: What’s dating and romance like later in life?

This is something I’ve been genuinely curious about, and I’d love to hear from people aged 60+ who are comfortable sharing their experiences.

For those who are single, recently divorced, widowed, or have found themselves back in the dating world later in life, what’s it actually like out there?

A few things I’ve wondered about:
Dating and romance: Is it still relatively easy to meet people, develop feelings and find a new partner in your 60s, 70s or beyond?

Casual relationships: Is there much of a casual dating or hookup scene for older people, or does it tend to be more focused on finding a long-term partner?

Sex and intimacy: If someone is single but still wants sex, physical intimacy or companionship without necessarily wanting another serious relationship, are there opportunities to find that?

Meeting people: How do people actually meet nowadays? Dating apps, social groups, friends, pubs, or just by chance?

Starting over: If you’ve lost a partner, been widowed, or come out of a long marriage, what has your experience been like trying to find romance or intimacy again?

I’m particularly interested in hearing from people here as I imagine the dating scene here might be a little different from that in a larger city.

I’m not trying to be disrespectful or make assumptions about anyone’s life. I’m genuinely interested in what romance, attraction and intimacy look like as we get older here, because I think people don’t talk about this side of ageing very openly.

Whether your experience has been positive, disappointing, surprising or somewhere in between, I’d be interested to hear it. And if you’re happy to share your perspective as someone who is single and over 60, I’d love to hear from you.
